When I was 16, this was one of my favourite songs. I always played both sides of my 45's and found a few great song that way.
This is the "B" side of Ode to Billie Joe. The "B" side of Indian Giver is Pow Wow, and if you spin the record backwards, you will it singing normally, singing Howdy Doody Time!
@kinkybeatle I think Capitol Records released this song as the A-side. However, the other side of the record put Bobbie Gentry (born in Chickasaw County, MS, raised in Greenwood, MS and then Los Angeles were she graduated from high school and attended UCLA) on the map-Ode to Billie Joe. Bobbie Gentry is proof you can take the girl out of the Mississippi Delta but you can't take it out of her.
this takes me back to the days of long hot summers and my mums record box, thank god she had good taste and i can still listen to these tunes with such joy
Ive been into music since I could walk.Everything from delta blues, doo wop, acid, and southern rock,to heavy metal.Outside of "Ode to Billie Joe"Ive never heard anything else by her.Im truly blown away. She is incredible!!!!!
this remnd me my elementary days, when there is a school program it was played with agogo dancers entertain us wearing boots, mini skirts and we felt amused. very good sound beat hope somebody can post "GRIND GRIND'" I dont know who is the singer but it hits also together with this song.
I've got the 45, and came here hoping for some footage to match. But glad to find this posted, just the same. How about those Muscle Shoals session players? Hot arrangement.

Researched the lyrics (could never understand all of them). Does anyone know the origins of this? "One-ree-o-ree-ee-reeanni

@bethanycat I believe it has roots in an old southern voodoo hex.
