The figure of 80% Nepali are Hindus are from 1990's census. But as of today you are correct that only 35%-45% are Hindus as Nepalese are leaving Brahmanical religion (Hindusim). The dalits are becoming Christians, while Gurungs, Thakalis, Tamangs are predominately Buddhist. And certainly Rai, Limbu, Magar, Hayu, Jirel, Dhimal, Sunuwar, Yakkha, Tharu are going back to their ancient faith.

If I see something that is wrong and I speak up it is a judgment? People have wrong idea about judging people, discernment is different. Tradition, culture and material does not make God happy, doing what God wants does. Not all religions are good at all. I understand both sides ~ the importance of traditions vs. human rights. I see the need for a support network of psychologits and teachers to surround the retired Kumari girls, in order to provide them with the skills they need to survive outside the palace. Just as soldiers coming from battle may need a lot of support, so do these young ladies... and their families as well. One thing is for sure, change is inevitable. So, I have great hope for these girls, if given the extra care they need.

I'll readily agree that this tradition is unfair to the girls, but it's not quite so horrible as this video would have it seem. Former Kumaris receive a pension from the state of 6000 rupees per month ($80). This is around twice the official minimum wage and around four times the average income in this poverty-stricken country. Also, all of the living former Kumaris with exception of the youngest ones have married.

In the end of the my movie there is another small Kumari, but I'm realy not sure is this same as said on yahoo. I took this movie few weeks ago from National Geografic.
