at least they have got some real world comparisons, like a bike is more fun than a car and is 8 seconds faster on the track and yet you pay nearly twice as much for the car as u do the bike cars are a complete rip off

Thats becos the cars heavier then the car, but the car does well considering the other one is a bike!!! And the cars not a rip off becos you have luxery and racing at the same time, and considering the civic type r is a gti beater and is quicker! Reason being a standard typr r does 0-60 in 6.5sec and a top speed of 147mph! Now that is a hot hatch!

mmmmmm my chipped BMW 330 DIESEL.....yes DIESEL does 0-6 faster & over 150 MPH. I raced my m8 in his Civic type R & constantly pulled away from him. My car has amazing economy (up to 55 mpg & around 40 round town) & also he span out on a round about ! I know you are going to say its the driver blah blah....yet another hot sctratch dispatched by a quality Diesel lol.

Think you'll find the 2.2 diesel civic will also outdo the new Type R when it's ECU is remapped. They have to restrict it at the plant because otherwise the torque produced has been known to twist the chassis. So yes, a quality diesel can out do a petrol car. As proven by the Skoda Fabia VRS several years ago.

yep.....my m8 has the new civic 2.2 diesel...even without the remap its fast & has loads of torque. My other m8 has a 1.9 a4 TDI quattro sport...remapped its fast (180bhp but the handling is amazing ...even in the wet. As for the car bike thing....I am not bike fan but I agree, get real ! It would have been much better to do old civic v new civic to validate any improvements. Still old or new they are great cars really.

Thats not really relevant, modify the petrol and it will always be faster than a similarly modified diesel. Diesels are mainly for buses, tractors and stationary engines, if you want to go fast, you but a petrol engine.

Oh right... so that's why Audi and Peugeot are winning Le Mans each year with diesel engines... because they're that much slower than petrol... wow, didn't know that. Fact of the matter is, diesel engines are miles better for torque and these days they are damn quick if made well and tuned. It's EASIER to modify a petrol engine than it is a diesel purely because the tech has been there since day 1. Unfortunately diesel is the future - I'm a petrol head personally, but even I can see that.

Of course the fastest motor racing on the planet is Formula one, if this diesel technology was so great then Formula one would be littered with class winning diesel cars, which it isn't because they are way too slow.

Also there are no diesel cars in World rallying because they are far too slow, also there are no diesel motor bikes on the motogp because they are far too slow - can you spot the theme here? Oh yes, Diesel = slow, save it for the generators, buses and trains.

The calorific value of the fuel is lower for diesel compared to petrol, diesels engines are more efficient, but this efficiency improvement is not enough to make up for the lack of energy in the fuel.

In short, a diesel engine will always perform less compared to a similar spec petrol engine, thats why diesels have to be garnished with turbos and have huge displacement to get the power.
