@Mrjoecreeper , what makes you think that these commercials of today aren't stupid? I guess the 70s commercials do seem stupid to you because you were probably born in the 90s and not into seeing fun commercials but instead, you'd rather see commercials about weight loss, seeing someones dirty food stained teeth, feminine itch and yeast infection commercials and alot of other disgusting stuff. Those are the stupid commercials in my opinion!!
@greewdew Consider you could get a cheeseburger for .40 cents and candy bars were .10 cents. Gas cost about .40 cents per gallon depending on where you lived. That might help put things in perspective.
this is false advertising damn it i tried to call that number and it dosent work i dont care its from the 70's i want my sluh mug !!! i want it !!!!i want it !!!!i want it !!!!i want it !!!!i want it !!!!
Lol I just got this from Vat19. It works & it's delicious. But I really thought that I was ordering something new, cool, and revolutionary.... and it's 39 years old. :D
If you seen a lot of these commercials in '71 when you were a kid, you'd think that every female in America was forced to wear short hemmed dresses and skirts.
@dfagnani If you're only 20 years old, I hardly think you are in a position to make definitive statements about the 1970's. For example, you point to the war in Vietnam as an example to support your postion that the 70's sucked. You obviously don't realize that our involvement in Vietnam ended in 1973. Sure there were some bad things back in the 70's. But inflation, disco, pet rocks, bad color schemes and horrible fashion are like a walk in the park compared to the garbage going on today.
I had one of these and liked it. I think they may have been pulled from the market at one point when it was discovered the freezer cylinders often leaked after being cleaned and dryed in the dishwasher.
lol.i used to have the red one.and that cool looking bicycle at the begining of this video.if you didn't have a banana seat.and sissy bar and the chopper handlebars you weren't cool
I begged for a pair of those goofy striped bell bottom slacks. Oh,I gotta pair alright........ about three inches too short! Can U say "High Waters"! I wore'm anyway.
OMG! I had one of these in the early seventies as well... One was for me and we had another one for my younger brother. I used it several times and then the novelty wore off I guess....
I was the age of those kids, and must say this is the most accurate looking vignette of the era...for middle-class suburban kids. The clothing, bikes, haircuts..although maybe my Dad wasn't quite as dorky!
My guess would be the "Slush mug and cell phone holder". It's not just a refreshing drink, but a handy holding device for any cell phone manufactured in China.
I know you're kidding, but it was during the 70s that the public really started influencing the government to enact environmental legislation, including against asbestos. I'd even say that the US public was far more environmentally conscious during the 70s than they are today; it was before Reagan changed the national tone by mocking environmental concerns and enacting an explicitly anti-environmental agenda that is still the norm in the US today.
i grew up in the 80s and my sister and i had slush mugs! it sure did take a LOT of stirring and waiting for the drink to 'slush'! this brought back memories. i MUST find another one! thanks for posting.
Is it me or did it take an inordinate amount of stirring to get to the slush? I may have been an impatient kid but it still seemed to take a lot of work to get to the Slush payoff! 70's were sweeeet!
This makes me nostalgic for the 70's. My parents would make us slush and Jiffy Pop popcorn while we watched the Wonderful World of Disney on TV. Being a kid in the 70's was great. Thanks for your posts.
I remember that we would end up burning what seemed like half the Jiffy pop. What I remember fondly is Saturday nights making Chef Boyardee pizzas and then watching Dance Fever!
I got hooked on that stuff when I was 11... it started with Passover and kiddush, havdala... and one night, I found myself guzzling in situtations where... let's just say no blessing was being made... suddenly, you've resparked the urge after 30 years of sobriety - - Yes... or what about a kedem slushy ?
We had these as well in the late 70's early 80's. I rememeber trying to put whatever beverage I could find in the mugs like chocolate milk and stuff. They were so cool!
My grandmother in Memphis had these. My sister and I loved making A&W Rootbeer and Coke slushes when we visited. This would have been around '73 or so.
I like just noticing it had that little tag/slide bit at the end telling you where to get these at. Too often I'm reminded of simular items and the number of places and logos shown on the screen for where to pick them up at (like Krazy Glue).
