the two bases with the scorpie green look kind off moss/swamp-ish so could be usefull, any idea on if your glowing runes work in the gauged out sections of the resin? and thanks for the reply to my last comment question thing. keep up the experimenting so i can use what works :p
I never tried your ice-technique myself (but I plan on doing so) and I am most certainly not an expert on pigments and colours and all that stuff, but I think you might want to try mixing the resin with Formula P3 paint from privateer press. I never actually used them myself, but they advertise them to be consisting of liquid pigments that never seperate... So I guess the technique you used with the first base might work.
I thought the bases looked kind of cool. Definitely be some uses for them. I also wouldn't consider it a fail. Everything you try teaches you something and that is what is important. Good work!
man i was hunting about thru some figs here and i have a really old ork war buggy .its the first one they brought out back the the very late 80`s i think .its in a shocking state but i may just fire it over to you since its something you done see every day .
Using one hand to support the other is one that I have seen the air-brush community advocating. Definitely creates a stable platform.
The magnetising on the marine is sweet.
I liked the failed base. It may not fit for Necrons, but it looks very much like pond skum and thus could be used if you need that effect for say a Lizardman or Catachan army.
how can i find you on google+??? i used to be on ventrillo with you guys and you all moved to google+ but i dont really understand how it works and i cant find you guys....
nice tips in the vid :) i think that if i wanted to go for that glow for necrons i would kind of do it as they paint their vehicles... smaller cracks to make it more forgiving
Did you tried to use ink, instead of paint. Inks are able to be delutet down to infinity without single Pigments to seperating like in washes or paint.
Cool yay found the bike. Such a fast update! Looking good bud and love the torso rotation! Maybe the arms can be pinned and rotate up and down? Hey with those bases try food coloring, half a drop, mix to find your color, the more drops the more opaque.
Well, I still liked the solid pigment with the light green accents, but I am also seeing that lava base casting up some great opportunity to paint OSL on the lower figure...Thanks for sharing the steps on the Necron bases...again, I can see great opportunities for OSL on the lower parts of the model...Jim.

Great idea for the bike Cat. I only have built the metal version, so conversion was not a real option. I will have to get some plastic bikes.
Thanks for mentioning the Big Winter Competition too! ;)

I think you'd still be able to turn the gun on the rail if it was magnetized via the arms

Nice work on the bike and some great tips there thanks.
The first of the Necron test bases looks like duckweed to me. It would work well with some fantasy type minis I think.

Hey Cat, the "failed" Necron bases would make a good industrial waste base. Looks like toxic ooze to me.

Could do the trick, but not that sure.

Trying and failing is now I learn but they look good for a first try. There has 2b a way to clean them up
