It wasn't actually tuned - I remember driving it around for the week we had it in the office. The GT2 was as you could buy as a customer, the Scuderia was an actual customer car and the LP560-4 was supplied by Lamborghini. We had driven many other examples of each model and there was nothing unusual about the cars in this test.

Outstanding!!! At the 1:25 rolling start the advantage goes to the 4wd lambo but check out the ferrari match it with sheer acceleration! That's a high rev flat plane crank V8 engine showing it's brutality but then the 560-4 opens up and starts to pull ahead of both scuderia and the gt2 --which at 1:44 starts to creep up. Raw power from the teutonic sewing machine!! Porsche start to hit the aerodynamic wall at 1:52 and the slippery lambo pulls slightly ahead. WOW...I love it!!

The lambo has a naturally aspirated V10 which has more low end torque and also AWD wheres the porshe has twin turbo and rear wheel drive which means off the line the GT2 is at a disadvantage because it doesnt quite have the traction of the AWD Gallardo nor the low end torque but once those turbos get spooling its a few cars that can dice with that Zuffenhausen beast!

@minimacooper - yes it was in race mode, so as to switch all traction control systems off.

One thing to bear in mind is that the Scuderia belonged to a private owner, whereas both GT2 and LP560-4 were press cars provided by their respective manufacturers. So we were a little more 'careful' with the 430.

But it never felt as fundamentally fast as the other two cars, especially the GT2 which just felt other-worldly..

@minimacooper - No problems. By the way, CitizenSlide is 'Steve Davies' (i.e. founder of DR & SkiddMark). Not an astounding revelation, and nowhere near as significant as Michael Schumacher removing revealing himself (jokingly) as the Stig on Top Gear, but worth pointing out anyway.

I haven't driven the 458 Italia, but everyone who has done describes it as being noticeably quicker than the 430, so a re-match with the new more powerful GT2 would be cool..

Drove an LP560-4 after an AMV8 on a track day last weekend. The Aston was nice but the brutal acceleration of the LP560 just knocks the shit out of you. They are all great cars but having done a few laps in the Lambo, I'd have to betray the British blood and go Italian. Girlfriend thinks the Aston is prettier, but she was all smiles after a few laps in the LP :-)

Drivers Republic rated the Porsche the best out of all of them as a drivers car because it was the most involving for the driver. The three cars are all pretty close technically. The Lamborghini and the Porsche had the exact same time around the Top Gear test track down to the tenth of a second.

Don't think so mate. The LP640 is quicker to 200mph than the Enzo. The Enzo has a top speed of 219mph and although the LP640 says it has a 211mph top speed. Its been proven the LP640 can do 219mph. Look for the Video on Youtube.

The Enzo has a dip in the power at higher revs at 170mph and that's where the LP640 passes it. The official top speed of the LP640 is 211mph but it has topped 219mph if you watch the test video on youtube. Yes the LP640 is heavier but the dip in the power on top of the rev range losses the Enzo's lead.

You numb skull, its not at speed but after certain Revs. If you look at dyno's you''ll see that power is made at a peak point. After peak point the power is less than peak.

Example would be my cosworth making 441bhp at 5500rpm and 386.2 at 7500rpm. Power lessens after its peak point on any engine.

And I know what you are talking about, but still, the one driving the Enzo shouldnt shift when the power is loosing, so if both drivers are good and shift at peak power then the Enzo should be faster.

You are not supposed to shift up at the peak power.

E.g.

5000rpm 200bhp

6000rpm 225bhp

7000rpm 250bhp (peak power)

8000rpm 225bhp (rev limit)

Assuming space between each gear is 2000rpm. If u shift at peak power you would fall to 5000rpm and only have 200bhp. If you continue to the limiter u would shift up and fall to 225bhp.

Of course this does depend on the power curve. I don't have the time to work out the figures for those cars.. But I'd always shift after , not at peak.

Yes, that is correct. There is no fucking way you would shift up at 7800rpm in an Enzo when the red line at 8000rpm limiter is past 8200rpm.

The Ferrari has just 510 and the GT2 530 but just with turbo. Gallardo has 560 but with 5,2 ltr. I think on track the Scuderia beats them, cause it has the most advanced technique off all. But they are all three really good cars. Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo are the best sportscars in the world.

Correction it's how they build them. Porsche could built a flat-6 just like Ferrari builds their V-8's. Porsche just wants to keep the tradition of the Turbo being the higher HP model and the GT2 the mix of the GT3 and Turbo. Also looking into motorsports history Porsche's race cars perform much better then the Ferrari's.

It is very easy to have the same engine for 1000 years. And ofcourse turbo IS the easy solution. Porsche always give the same easy recipie. Ferrari and lambo gives somethig special to the driver. Something that you want to drive. I believe that porsche cant be connected with the word passion. For me it isnt a super car at all. It is souper fast undoubtedly. But it cant give you the plessure of a real souper car. (Porsche Carrera GT is the big exception here :P). Anyway it is big discussion...

I was lucky enough to drive a Ferrari F430, a Lambo LP640 and a Cayman and 911 turbo on a track and you can't compare the fun and excitment of the italian cars with the lack of soul of Porsches! Exactly... They may be faster some times but this is the only plus for me (and an "useless" plus also). If you want to be just souper fast... Take a subaru sti and put up to it 400hp or 500hp more. I have watched an m3 e46 turbo which beats turbos and gt2s for fun. Who cares... That is why i believe that porsche doesnt deserve its buyers. That gallardo is so fast... at the 0-100...120 the scuderia is fastest but its hp cant help her to accelerate the same as the other two... nor its cc. Gt2 is also impressive but it is not a surprice for it to win from 200-300km for example. Gies it is twin-turbo. If you have a well tuned mitsubishi evo you will have 2 of the same recipe. Turbo was always the easy solution for dragers. And here we have two! No no i dfinitely prefer the ferrari and lambo engineering.. No evos with nice badge...

We have brought all the cars back together again this week and are filming the main magazine feature for publishing next week. Silverstone yesterday was another washout, so unfortunately we weren't able to set a representative time for the Scuderia, but now that all cars are in rude health the Ferrari seems to be quicker.

It's not just about Horsepower. Lambo has a NA engine whereas GT2 has turbos which means it has more torque.

Also tha new Lp560 does 0-100 (Km/h) in less than 3.5 sec

GT2 does 0-100 around 3.6-7 but recently they managed to get 3.4 sec

I dont think that it was a good enough race though. It wasn't professional enough in my opinion. I was pleased to c that they really improved the Gallardo good job Lambo. But i am sure u guys can all agree that we would rather c a comparison of the three on a track (lap timings). Straight line performance doesn't really mean much to me. If i had to choose out of the three it would be the Scuderia. Wouldn't mind any though ;)

You would need to have followed the story on Drivers Republic to understand the context to this video.  We ran all the cars at Bruntingthorpe first (to measure straight line performance) then took them over to Silverstone to set lap times and record our track videos with telemetry. Unfortunately one of the cars experienced a fault and whilst we completed 2/3rds of the test, we were unable to complete the full test.

Yes, in this video is makes the impression - I heard both cars in real life and the scud is at least much louder; which sound you like better is a matter of personal taste; the scud sound can be deeper and higher, the Lambo has that extremly agressive V10 sound.
