Benoit was never a good promo/mic guy like Taker,Austin,Triple H,Rock,Shawn,Jericho,Edge... that`s why his reign got boring...

Taker vs. Austin was great rivalry, but what would REALLY draw a crowd would be to make the submission match at wm 13 an "end of an era" match, with either bret or austin leaving if they lose. Of course, they probably would make Bret lose to make room for Austin's rise in success, so it'd be pretty predictable.
Classic. I love the fact that you could say any swear word besides shit and fuck in a promo back then. Now it's so innocuous you'd be lucky to hear the word "ass" in a ppv promo.
While this was an awesome match at Fully Loaded, it wasn't as exciting as it could be for a few main reasons: 1) They stupidly decided to let Xpac interfere and have him give Austin a head start to bust open Taker by doing a roundhouse on him with a chair in front of him. I mean, come on! If they wanted Austin to win, why didn't they just let him bust Taker open himself w/o help??

Then there was the Alliance/Invasion angle, which sucked because of a lack of good ecw and wcw talent on the Alliance side. All the main eventers were, for whatever reason, nowhere to be found. Then Austin never won the undisputed title and was never to win a title again. It's pretty shitty.
From late 99 to May 2000, it was still pretty good, but the Rock vs. HHH stuff did start to get a little old after a while. HHH vs. Angle just doesn't work well, IMO. When taker came back, it got a little better, but then had that stupid American Badass character, which was nothing compared to the Deadman. Austin finally comes back late 2000, and he gets many title shots but still comes up short. Then he finally wins the RR and goes to WM, and then he turns heel and starts liking mcmahon.
I would say that after this, the slow downfall of the wwe's attitude era started. I mean, sure, it was still pretty exciting, but nothing can really compare to the Austin-Vince feud that started over a year before. After Austin won, and the feud had to end, then they had Summerslam, where Austin lost the title. Then Triple H won it from Mankind, and Austin was never able to win it again. Then he got "run over" and out of action for a year. Taker was suspended from late 99 to May 2000.
These guys are all friends outside of the ring, the thing with Taker's wife getting in a car accident, and any other conflicts, that was all faked! at least then conflicts like that were! They just do that to really get the fan phyqued, the fans believe it and that makes them think its gonna be a more exiting match!

man, what a storyline. 2 of the biggest superstars in the history of this business in one of the most violent matches possible for the richest prize in this business. As good as wcw was, there's no way they could top this action.
