  • thanks this helps me so much

  • you have the cutest and sweetest voice tack sa mycket xx

  • Jag bor i Brazil :D yay

  • I am speaking with myself in swedish, c(:

  • This is really helpful, now all i need to do is stop forgetting it..XD Tack!

  • Sounds a bit like Dutch :'D

    Cause I am Dutch xD

  • Awesome that you showed this video! I am a fan of Sweden and learning Swedish now online. I found lots of good tips on Speak Swedish Stupid channel so now I'm able to communicate decently and my Swedish friends are inpressed :) Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks, looking forward to learning more, you teach very well!

  • Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone who is swedish or is fluent in the language could help me learn? I was thinking we could maybe swap email address's and email each other conversations. I think this would be a great way to learn as im at the very basics and need to improve as im going to sweden very soon. Please send me a message if your interested :) great video!!!!

  • this goes against every pronunciation I have learned

    I was taught

    är - e

  • tack :D

  • Thank you so much GoSwedish! This is helping me so much!

a question for anyone who can answer : So... instead of saying "What is your name?", I would say, "Tell your age" ??

  • I wish you could come to my house and teach me Swedish... you are such a good teacher ....with a very lovely voice..=)

  • @GoSwedish you're very helpful, I can speak German so I can see some similarities between the two which helps as well :)

  • just wondering (since I know nothing) is it rude to simply ask someone "tell me your age" or "tell me your name" ? is there a "can you please" or "what is" or does it not matter. I don't want to seem rude to the many swedes ill encounter next month. Your videos are great by the way!

  • @colombiacrack88

First thing, it isn't rude at all just to ask somebody else to tell their name in Swedish. I can't post a video response, but maybe if I write the words somebody else can pronounce them for you?

"Snälla, kan du berätta vad du heter?" (Please, can you tell me your name?)

"Kan du snälla..." (Can you please)

  • very nice! Thank you

  • Someone help me what eat in swedish?

  • @JOSHBATTLE Do you mean the word eat? If so, it´s "äta".

  • @lilltartan Thank you so much you know swedish all word?

  • @JOSHBATTLE Yeah I´m born with Swedish

  • @JOSHBATTLE

The verb eat in swedish is "Äta". Ex.

"Finns det något att äta?" (Is there something to eat?)

"Jag skulle vilja ha något att äta" (I would like something to eat)

"Kan jag få något att äta?" (Can I have something to eat?"

"Vill du ha något att äta?" (Do you want something to eat?)

"Får jag äta den här?" (Can I eat this?/ Am I allowed to eat this?)

    I hope it helped.

  • I was born in Sweden! Speaking it is fun, and it confuses other people! =D BTW: I'm 13... YAY

  • Pretty good lesson, however this girl is really annoying me. :/

  • It personally really annoys and irritates me how you add all thes yeah or na-ah words. its kind of funny and awkward too...

  • lat mig presentera mig sjalv. Mitt namn ar James Peterson. Jag bor i U.S.A.

  • i take german classes. Swedish is very simular. the only thing that will mess me up in learning swedish is the pronounciations. Like A(Umlaut) in german it's pronounced kinda like a long english E, but in swedish it's pronounced as a long english A.

  • Just subscribed - lovely video, and it is much nicer to hear -and- read Swedish, than simply try from a book. Wonderful delivery, kinda friendly and upbeat and whatnot (also, I am totes jealous because you have a really lovely voice!).

Wondering if there are any Swedish tv shows you could reccomend? I'm down for pretty much any genre, s'long as the plot is interesting :Db

  • your voice is so nice!

  • hehe i think im very kind ;)

  • What about the name of countries? Jag bor i... Amerika? That's usually how it's spelled in other languages.

  • Too hard to pronounce. I'm done.

  • haha, cute voice.

  • Fantastic way to learn! People struggle to learn languages because we are taught grammar rules and technical stuff first! That is not best, think about it kids learn because they only get conversation an the rest comes later! A lot easier and I Beg to sat the natural way to learn! This is great! And probably the most effective! Plus she is sweet and charming so it makes the learning easier!

  • guys i am swdish

    :P

  • it was so helpful. thanks

  • @snowballrocks89 swedish keyboards got åäö on them can't do it without swedish keyboards :)

  • @Nazror oh.........

  • Tack for posting this! I have always been fascinated with the Swedish language. The combined audio-visual teaching/learning is very helpful. Is there a video covering Swedish vowels and consonants specifically? I'd love to learn some Swedish sånger. Tack igen!

  • tack..

  • fucking greatest languagae in the world .cool.

  • you sure sound a lot like suulkasiipi (or how you spell it anyway)

  • Thanks for the vid! You're a great teacher :) Not only are you explaining the grammar, but you're also helping with pronounciation aswell, which is awesome cos learning from books has it's downsides XD

  • Thank you so much for your helpful videos! I wanna go to högskolan in Jönköping for three months, this is very helpful. :) Tack så mycket!

  • Thanks a lot for you videos, it helps a lot for the understanding when learning swedish alone. Tack från Frankrike !

  • Thanks a lot for you videos, it helps a lot for the understanding when learning swedish alone. Tack från Frankrike !

  • It's so damn hard ;-;

  • As a finnish I should know how to speak swedish, but that's not the truth for after many years of studies it doesnt' feel natural to me. But with your lessons I actually feel like learning the proper pronounciation :) your voice is lovely, like björk... thanks for these videos!

  • @stumppi You speak Swedish in Finland, don't you? That's really cool. So, could I visit Finland without knowing a word of Finnish? I have tried to learn your language actually but it's a little tricky. But I can however tell you one thing, my dear: Kiitos for your comment and your kind words. Björk is awesome, isn't she? Thank you so much for writing me. I wish you the best of luck with your Swedish. I bet it's tricky. Your comment made me smile.

  • @stumppi Well Finnish and Swedish and English are all VERY differnt

  • @stumppi minä olen ruotsalainen, minä asun ruotsia. Puhun vähän suomea. Syön jäätelöä. ha ha, is that correct? I'm trying to learn finnish because I have relatives in Finland :) Actually I'm half finnish and half swedish but I don't know how to say that. Can you tell me?

  • @44azza

    Tjena! :)

Almost correct! 'Minä asun ruotsissa' is the right phrasing. If you want to know other sentences, just ask me :)

  • @stumppi Thanks, I thought it only was ssa/ssä when it was a city or village. so, it would be suomessa if i lived in finland? :)

  • @44azza

    that's righ! =)

  • @stumppi yes! :D haha, so yeah, if you need any help with your swedish you can always ask me :)

  • @stumppi I took finnish, and it is not as hard as people think, you must have an open mind , it goes when learning any language, and try to think like a fin, or swede for this video

  • the sj-letters are killing.

  • Your videos are wonderful to watch, I love them! Even after a hard day watching your videos made my day! You also have an excellent way of explaining Swedish! Thank you very much for making my day! : ) Tusen tack!

  • @MyshunoGuy Your comment is so wonderful to receive. Thank you so very much for taking your time out to send it my way. I appreciate your words and kindness. You made my day now. I sadly deal with so many angry so called "Haters" on my channel, so it's absolutely wonderful to receive a nice comment like yours. You're awesome and good luck with your Swedish if you practice it. I am glad your like the way that I teach, that's so lovely! :)

  • Just wanted to say you're great! Love your videos. I am marrying a Swede next month and need to learn to Swedish to know what's going on when I visit his family! It's gonna be tough, but every little bit helps - thanks!

  • Hahaha "berätta hur gammal du är".

Gammal sounds like the dutch "gammel" which is not a very nice thing to say about an elderly person X3

  • I trying to learn swedish i got to say you have such a beautiful voice

  • I think Swedish is a lot easier for people who are familiar with a Germanic language like Dutch or German. Jag heter, that sounds like the Dutch 'ik heet', which means exactly the same.

You have a very clear and friendly voice, pleasant to listen to :) Thanks

  • @XmrdX Your comment is very very nice! I thank you so much. Dutch is a lovely language; Ik heet Aaliyah! :)

I love how some languages are so similar. And if you learn Swedish chances are you may understand Norweigan and Danish, too - not everything but some. I find Danish difficult but Norweigan is easier to understand. I have learned that German is similar - that's funny. So, how wonderful! :D

Thank you for writing me and you made my day!

  • Great didactic experience. Can you make the app available for Android as well as iPhone?

  • @jkeelingp Funny you should ask because my working partner came with the idea that we should make the GoSwedish apps available for Android phones. That would be awesome, wouldn't it? I'll keep you guys updated. If more people read this and are interested in Android applications then thumb this comment up to voice your opinion or comment on it.

  • I love your videos. Excellent, really. Sweden is my favorite country and i have been wanting to learn, and this is so much help.

    tack!

  • @DanishChick1

I as a Dutchman can understand German, Swedish and Norwegian. But i can't understand Danish.. xD

    It's so damn difficult. O_o

  • @XVCnickski

Then try help me! I have dutch in school (but i suck at that) Norwegian and swedish are the same as danish. Swedish people 'sing' whem they talk, and the norwegian language is danish words.. still bouth language is hard! :D

I don't understand how you could speek german?! It sound like you are drunk when you say the words xD (no affence)

  • @DanishChick1 it seems than Norweigan, swedish and danish is the same language. but they aren´t. there is many differenses.

  • @JuliusAnudasson I know.. there are accent. But Norweigan is really much the same as Danish. Also when they wrights (Type?)

  • You have a nice voice to listen to :) Cute English accent, like all Swedish girls actually :p My Swedish is pretty bad atm, I'm currently staying in Stockholm for 5 months and I would like to speak a little bit of Swedish. I bought a booklet but I never know how to pronounce the words, so thanks for your videos, they helped a lot with my pronounciation. Hopefully in a couple of weeks/months I won't have to say: jag talar inte Svenska as much as I do now :D Tack så mycket!

  • Great Teacher! Your voice is so soothing and cute! Thanks for the videos. Can you do a restaurant themed video including how to order and what are popular Swedish foods?

  • @GreenNorfolk1 Thank you so much. You're so kind. I will keep your suggestion in mind, because that would really be a great theme.

  • Thanks it really helped me tack ca mycket

  • damn that is one sexy voice

  • fantastic video!

  • Your voice is freaking adorable. If you were my teacher, I would never stop paying attention.

  • @SycamoreHill14 haha, this is so funny! You're so kind. I don't even know what to say as I wasn't quite expecting such awesome comment. But seriously, Thank you so much for paying attention ;)

  • Lol epic cute voice

  • Wonderful! Thank you! I wish I would bump into you....

  • @JonnyDee Who knows, maybe one day? :) Thank you for your support!

  • @GoSwedish How do you say "Ireland" in Swedish? Just a quick question :) Thank you :D

  • these videos are extremely helpful, thanks for everything you do, :)

  • @MrLeCro no, why do you say that?

  • Hej!

  • @Svartljus

please, no offence, but wright dig instead of dej.. because when that spelling is fixed in the third person (sej), then it fucks up, because sej in swedish is a fish!, so; mig, dig, sig o.s.v. :)

  • @kalledelacalle

    ooops, fail x) write*

  • @Svartljus

well don't do it, even though they're swedish, they're wrong.. proper swedish is dig, sig etc..

  • @kalledelacalle Yes, exactly, no offense at all, but it's Mig/Dig etc... If peope want to speak proper Swedish and be taken seriously that's the way to speak. I know some people write "Dej/Mej" but that's like the young teenage bloggers, hehe ... It just looks bad in my opinion. All I know is that if you're having a Swedish test in school and you write "Dej" you will not pass the test... :D

  • I love your videos, screw the haters, I LOVE YOU. you've taught me a lot.

  • @laboyyawoogykane 5. You can't spell. 6. You put my channel on the map the more you hate on me. 7. Thank you for your comment. Merry Christmas to you.

  • @GoSwedish Thank you for all your outstanding videos. You are doing a great job :) Merry Christmas to you.

  • @laboyyawoogykane Wow, that's low! You must feel so clever now :)

  • @laboyyawoogykane Ajajajaja and that is from a Korean?. First to all hear how your language sounds, and later speak about "retarded indians". And second, you don't even know something about the native american languages than are really great, full of history. and varied, there're a lot of families of languages in all America.

  • @laboyyawoogykane dude, are you like jealous or something? if you don't like swedish why did you click on a GoSwedish video? now who's dumb "as shit" ?

  • @voodoochildjeff Exactly, my dear. Why do these people even bother clicking on my videos If I am so awfully annoying to them. The more they click on my videos to hate the more views do I get. I mean, it doesn't make sense. They should think further. If they do not like my videos then do not watch them. I sure as hell don't watch videos I hate or get annoyed by. I pretty much ignore them ;)

  • @GoSwedish exactly! by the way, i love your videos :) x

  • i dont have anybody to make me learn swedish and then speak with me :(

  • The same thing is with the word "själv" (mig själv). You may skip it as well. It is just making the whole thing more complicated. I think that you shall add it in a later course.

  • @Victoryflower I spelled wrong earlier, so again: To say that I teach the wrong thing is a bit harsh. You make it sound as if I'm teaching terrible Swedish. People say "Mig själv" as well as "Jag själv" and it's a great thing for people to learn this. Of course you can skip "själv" but it's not about that, this is about different sentences. I'll teach them to say both ways. like I did where I mention "Presentera mig själv" or "dig själv" I can't re call - but you can skip "själv" - I said it :)

  • (I had to skip all the punctuations, my letters came to an end)

  • First of all I do not think you videos i terrible. The thing is that they sometimes is telling the wrong thing.

Now, if you wish to learn people swedish, wouldn´t it be easier for them to learn if you have skipped words like grand? The first thing you do when you see a phrase on a new language is to translate every word verbatim That is impossible with words like grand, as well as with many other words in swedish that just sounds well You have to start withe the basics, and add the rest later on

  • @Victoryflower I looked up "Grand/grann" and people do use "Grann" very often, so what's up with that? It seems many Swede's are confused with this & when to use the different words. I personally think "Grann" looks way better, then I must not explain why we don't pronounce the "D". I stumbled upon so many blogs/ job sites saying "Berätta lite grann om dig själv..." - Something that I find weird is how SFI teachers teach their students to never ever pronounce the "G" in Jag, as if it's a no-no.

I come in peace :)

  • @Victoryflower I love her videos! :D

  • @Victoryflower You've deleted your comment 3 times, but I still got it. I read it. But honestly now; do you really think this video is so terrible and misleading? If people move to Sweden & wish to learn how to introduce themselves, then don't you think this will help them? Must they have to speak perfect Swedish immediately? No. This video will help them out because they learn Swedish, and people can trust in what I teach. So what if one word doesn't feel necessary? - it's still good to know.

  • Comment removed

Jag lägger gärna in "Grand" i meningen. Men men... :)

  • I just love swedish and swedish people in general, i hoping to learn :( but im not doing well :(

  • @BestPiggy Well, take a two week vacation and take a flight over to Sweden and pay a visit. The language isn't really that hard as long as you get the hang of our completely ridiculous grammar. :)

  • Tack så mycket!

Jag gillar dina videor. Du är en bra lärare :) (and your voice is sweeeet)

Tack vare dig jag kan öva upp min svenska ;) (learn proper swedish, for example jag thought the "jag" is proper with a silent G)

  • My gf sent me a site when I said I wanted to learn Swedish (I wanna impress my Swedish friend :P), but I found it boring, so I decided to look on here. I found your video informative, but also entertaining. :-)
