  • damn im so slow at this F2L it takes me about 4 minutes to finish it

  • Oh goodness. I only just memorized the beginning algorithms, and even then I still mess it up sometime. Gosh, this sure is going to take a lot of practice.

Oh well, I actually really enjoy solving my cube. Once I start, I can't seem to stop. Thanks for the videos! Hopefully one day I'll be a real speedcuber.

  • hey dude what cube are you using?ty

  • Nice video, helped me a ton!!!

  • 10 people prefer the Roux method.

  • These are great, pay attention begginers!

  • i got the double flicks since the begginer's method!

  • it doesnt work on my cube

  • @promovement300 Lubricate it. Google it to see how, it really helps you!

  • For the first case, I just use R U R' U' three times. But your method works just as well.

  • wtf can anyone explain to me why badmephisto has a 4x4 but for the past 5 years we've seen nothing but 3x3s?!

  • eplain better

  • take cc to the detection, and go 3:25. he says I've got a gun oO

  • Your vids are the best, I wish you used Petrus instead of Fridrich though :(

  • I LOVE this video!!!!

  • for faster U2 after an R (like @5:00) i do R and right thumb does one U and then left index does another U. its much faster.

  • @rishidoshi helps in sunes etc :)

  • Dude! Your 4x4 is in the background! =)

  • I just bought a hasbro original rubiks cube...the one that says Rubiks cube rubiks.com... n the center of the white side... I used vaseline for lubricating...eventhough it is not faster enough for performing those finger tricks...help me...are u using a "speed cube" the ones that are faster than common ones? ...thanks of helping me bro...

  • @D4RKY3000 buy a JSK japanese speedcubing kit or jsk clone

  • could i use trumpet oil to lube the bearing?

  • @1slave25 I wouldn't recommend it. Go to your local Walmart and purchase a can of the CRC Heavy Duty Silicone. It's usually in a red can and can be found in the automotive aisles. It shouldn't be more than 2-3 dollars.

  • Badmephisto.... another name for excellency!!!

  • badmephisto if the middle corners are already inserted does that mean i have to insert each one individually every time with that RURURU'R'U'R' or what ever algorithm and that makes it even longer. please respond

  • ummmm what cubik r u using? DIY, C4U or cubrsmith? Cause mine one is C4U It's very smooth but very easy to pop....

  • f2l is awesome. i average around 40 seconds and hardly know any olls or plls

  • @Gandalfistheman that's encouraging man, thx!

  • I just cant get to lubricate my cube propely. i cant do the double thingy... it just stops after the first turn.

I used silikon oil because that was the only thing in my hand.. what should i use?

  • U'RU2R'URUR' is good fpr the second case too

  • @badmephisto, how do you do the reverse of 1:58 case? Like when the white is pointing to the left...

  • dude, you have long fingers

  • Doesn't (R U R' U')*3 work for the first case as well?

  • @omnomono

Yes, but the U' on the end of the third trigger would be a wasted move.

R U R' U' and U R U' R' are just exact opposites: and since it takes 6 of either algorithm to go from a solved state back to a solved state, either algorithm performed 3 times should bring you to the same state (half way through the cycle).

So, just like you always should, use your best judgement and personal preference on what algorithms to employ.

  • wow dude thanks a lot

  • Hey man, thanks a lot for all your help! Just a quick question, what type of cube do you like/use? thanks a lot!

  • i was the 66666th viewer!! :D

  • hey thanks heaps i finally learnt all oll and pll now just to get faster at f2l:) thanks

  • kann you make a tutorial on all fingertricks for the f2l pls !!!!!!!!!!!!! youre awesome ;)

  • awesome :D

  • cool, nice video pl make one like on OLL and PLL fingertricks,Thanks :) you rock.

  • for the first case i tend to do r u r' u' x3, isnt that faster?

  • how the hell are you filming this!?!

  • @IgorPcar he has a webcam attached to is hat he told us in another video

  • @TheKamikazeHD hummm thank you!

  • What brand are your cubeS??? please reply..

  • @1ice2cream3truck4 Cube4You Type F2

  • Great tut!!:D

  • Ill do it fast nao... WHAT?

  • I suggest that you learn to do these tricks from any angle, and insert into any slot. Like learn to use L's and stuff. Yea yea I know it's a pain. But cube rotations are even slower, trust me.

  • your awesome dude i watched ur beginner version and beat the rubiks cube for the frist time now im down to 41 secs being my best keep up the good work

  • Great vid! Just wondering but isnt F2l suppose to be intuitive?

  • nice vid.

  • how do we smoothen the cube?

  • @devashishvayeda petrolleum jelly

  • @richdar99

lolno, that will slowly dissolve your entire cube after about a month

  • these are tha best vid's ever i learn so much and you explain realy well i can do the cube in 35 s now

  • these are tha best vid's ever i learn so much and you explain realy well i can do the cube in 35 s now i started cubin since christmas

  • do i realy need a credit card just to order a cube from cube4u?

  • @79bommer yes you do

  • @JBoogie300 sun of a bitch!!!!!!!

i cant buy myself fast cube

  • @79bommer try pestvic's video on modding a rubik's brand into a diy. and try going to a competition with a rubiks brand as your back up. most of the time people sell diys and fast speedcubes there

  • pls make a printable pdf of these fingertricks ...

    pls

    pls

    pls

    pls

    pls

  • @gtasanplsgiveme do it urself u lazy american. btw this video was so freaking helpful thanks.

  • I spy with my little eye... something that rhymes with 4x4. Future video topic? (seriously I avg like 4:30)

  • this video is very good to do an avg5 under 20seconds =)

  • Thanks for the videos man I have my pb set at 23.95

and my average at 28.40. I seem to be struggling with

the cross though and averaging 5 to 7 sec. Any tips?

  • @badmephisto how do you spin layers so fast?my cube is slow and just stoping.

  • Your vid's are great!! Throw some Adsense on this mofo and get paid!

  • @gnetix1 nah, adsense is annoying

  • @gnetix1 or he could just post something for the sake of helping people out and not want to extort money from their views as well.

  • I did R U' R' U a looot of time till my fingers got used to it, it's a very useful fingertrick and now I can do f2l way faster.

  • On the R U' R' U2 R U' R' the double flick looks so cool on camera !

  • I was barely able to discover a solution myself so I won't put down anybody who's putting effort into any aspect of twisty puzzles but I found it funny that he first explains how important it is to learn the double flick and later explains that he never learned the left hand version because the slower method "works for me". :-) Seriously fun stuff, badmephisto. Thanks.

  • This tutorial is awesome!!!

  • make a 2x2 tutorial

  • You're a KING,man!!! Thanks for all of these videos!!!

  • You're a king, man!!! Thanks for all of these videos!

  • You're a king,man!!!

  • the double flick is the easy part ha

  • it looks so much like a stupid fps-game when u take the cube away, scramble (reload) it and take it back :D

  • Wow, for the past week, I've been trying to do these fingertricks and going "AGH WHY CAN'T MY FINGERS MOVE THAT QUICKLY", and then yesterday, my DIY cube (bought it assembled/lubed) came in the mail. And it's SO much better, unbelievable. All that wasted frustration hahah.

  • i learned F2L from ur video. Thanks :)

  • thanks ill work on these. hope you have a warm fuzzy feeling lol

  • yay, thanks a lot.

  • at 1:20 the algorytm is long, I found a shorter, RUR'U' RUR'U' RUR'

  • @tmasterxxx

    ...thats not shorter...

  • Great! Thanks!

  • the best part of your videoes is the byebye pointed at the camera it makes me lol

    thanks for the vids!

  • you're my hero...

  • i think you 're great

  • you sound kinda pissed in this video. like at any point you might say "FUCK YOU NOOBS" and then leave.

  • for the first alg, i like to use R U R' U' x3, although the last U' isnt needed. it just goes in there for the sake of instinct

  • @mynameisdarthtater

Yeah. Thats cause that trigger is more famous. But U R U' R' is faster for most people

  • I do all double flicks with left, I dont actually need to learn the right but I could if I want because im both hands( not too good when it comes to taking up a new hobby/sport)

  • The first algorithm u use i always do backwards. It also works. :)

  • I do double flick w/ the M slice moves and the U moves. It's fun to do, I love to do perms w/ lots of M slice moves.

  • Too advanced for me. I'll settle for solving it in 2.5 mins. It still impresses amateurs. My fingers are sore just from watching this.

  • i bet by now ure used to it xD cuzx finger tricks tbh make ure speed from 2.5 mins to 1 mins 12 secs i nbegginger before learning advanced :P

  • for the second to last case you can use your thumb to do the first U' without letting go of your grip

  • where can i buy jigaloo?

  • Jig-a-loo actually melts plastic but to prevent that u have to a) work it in for atleast 5 minutes and b) not put too much on and btw depending on which cube u have it may melt it more or less so add the lubicant in small additions and let it fully dry befor adding more

  • for the first example wouldnt it be easier to do the R U R' U' 3 times?.. wel it's easier for me

  • @alvivghar This is just your algorithm backwards. badmephistos way of doing it is actually faster, as it does not require a regrip.

  • ooh thanks

  • Have a warm fuzzy feeling :D

    Thanks for the tutorials!

  • @markj123abc1 its called an erection

  • i figured out an algorithm for when the edge and corner are paired up put the edge is flipped incorectly:

hold the pair above the slot and do this algorithm:

    R' U2 R2 U R'

  • Excellentisimo!!! I've followed and saved all of your tutorials. They are so helpful! I''m trying to learn all 57 olls and all 21 plls, but your 2 Look tutorials are saving me, temporarily only (of course).

    Thank you.

  • which type DIY cube would you recommend

  • Do you have any idea how well you speak? : )

  • I prefer (U) RU'R'U RU'R'U RU'R'

For me it is much faster for the case with the edge in place and the corner cross color up.

  • lol me and my friends brought our cube to school and we borrow vasoline from our teacher ( didnt know that you could use other stuuf to lube it at the time) and our teacher asked us "what are you going to use it for" and were like "to lube" and our teacher is like "eww" lol

  • anybody knows what JK means??? tards,,,

  • we know what it means. you just have a bad sense of humor

  • jk means just kidding

  • omg! you scared the crap out of me!!

  • First time i've seen a big cube in his videos!

  • Sorry, but I find f2l very confusing and slow. There's just way too many algs to memorize. How in the world do you get to know them all ??

  • you can do it intuitively

  • what's that mean?

  • holy shit

    find it in the dictionary

    retard

  • I think he only uses around 11

  • wow seriously? I mean i know about 5 now, but only 11 and he can do it in 17 secs, id like to know the ones that he uses

  • he has a video to teach people a few algs, and they work O: I haven't solved a cube yet, but I got white done, and the first layer done, using his tutorial, I had to pause and rewatch certain parts again but it helped a lot

  • Practising, practising, practising m8

  • You really only need to memorize a few algs for cases that are otherwise hard to solve. Intuitive F2L (doing it just by thinking on your own) is hard to get used to, but I think with enough practice anyone can get it. I'm picking it up fairly quickly -- but I did learn Petrus method before doing this. I think Petrus actually helped a lot with the intuitive parts of F2L; when I was learning petrus I was waaay confused too. Just keep it up ^^ You'll get it eventually.

  • Thanks for the response, I think my progess is gradually getting better. What is petrus btw?

  • Petrus is a method in which you first make 2x2 block in one corner. Then add another edge and f2l pair to make a 2x2x3, then you correct the edges to make them "good", and finish the f2l. I can't remember what you do for the last layer

  • while inserting the last f2l pairs, you orient all the edges of the last layer, insuring you only get a few possible oll cases

  • thanks a lot man - good stuff!

  • "your cube isn't lubricated, can't perform finger tricks"

    that's what she said? XD

what do u think of Eastsheen cubes?

  • Thanks

  • the r u ri ui trigger is so useful

  • I like these videos, because I am less of a theory guy and more of a example learner. Watching your videos has helped me grasp techniques in a day where I was taking weeks to learn from just text and pictures. Thanks for giving your time to educate us novices!

  • this is probably the best video badmephisto made

  • I thought the first finger trick was the best one. I never would have thought that you can solve that case by using those fast triggers. The (U R U' R') trigger is very fast.

I learned something new, so good job, Badmephisto!

  • nice video!! thnx!!=)

  • lol thats so nice

i learned f2l from you and u helped me so good.

but i didnt find tricks like in this video and that annoyed me. so in the last 3-4 months i came up with these cases and found out my own ways, which are exactly the same as yours are in the vid. and 4 months later i see this video and think "what the ****" :)

very helpful vid imo for beginners-advanced cubers.

  • How do you lubricate your rubiks cube?

  • search on youube and watch memyselfandpi's tut

  • pop out an edge piece and spray some in there (if youre using a spray) and then work it in by playin with it for a little while

  • Your videos are THE best!!!! im learning soooooo much from each video! :)

  • Really?? Why thank you :))

  • @badmephisto He's telling the truth brother!!

I just started speedcubing 3 days ago when I watched your beginner's guide! I'm now getting better at using F2L and my average time is about 1:15! I don't think anyone else could have gotten me that average in 3 days :D You're a great teacher acctually!

  • Notice that 4x4 cube by the mouse

  • great videos, keep up the good work.

  • i learned something :P

  • for the first on i use R U Ri Ui x 3

  • I've seen tutorials on how to do just basic F2L, but not ones on fingertricks. This is really gonna help, Thanks a ton!

  • great video.. now im timing has improve from 1min 16s to 50s.. will keep practicing till i can gt sub 20s.. will keep dat advice go slow n look ahead...

  • Here's for some warm fuzzy feeling: great video, actually pretty much all your videos are very helpfull. Thanks to you i've got my personal best at 29 seconds and my average at about 40-45 seconds. I'm having a hard time to get from the cross to the first f2lpair, i notice i pause there quite often. During inspection-time do you allready look at what's going to be the first f2l-pair?

  • no not really... you just have to try to look ahead while you are doing last moves of cross, into f2l

  • for some odd reason, my storebought rubiks cube lets me do fingertricks even though I didnt lube it...

  • usually, storebought rubik's cubes are pretty tight at first, unless you pick a good one (like you did). if you find a chance to lubricate it, i would because it lets you do fingertricks much faster

  • so you can solve thee whole cube with

    f2L ??!?!!

  • no, f2l stands for first two layers. it is the first part of the fredrics method, which is f2l, oll, pll

  • so was it just by chance that the algorythyms he used solved the whole cube?

  • he set up the cases specifically that way.. by doing them backwards from a solved position..

so normally they would not solve the whole cube

  • There is no "y" in algorithm.

  • yes! it is a type of cube rotation

  • He spelled "algorithm" like "algorythym."

I was pointing out that there is no "y."

  • Could you tell me what oll and pll stand for?

  • oll, is orient last layer, where you get all the top stickers to match, but the sides of the top layer aren't right, pll is where you permutate last layer, or you move around the top pieces and keep the top still the same.

  • Ok thanks.

  • orientation of last layer

    permutation of last layer

  • counter clock wise double flicks are awesome too. I use that in some OLL's. You use right thumb and left index, and can result really fast. =)

  • that´s ther same like the normal double flicks

  • My F2L is soooo slow! Some tips?

  • is that SERIOUSLY a head cam? lol

  • i learned that double flick before i watched this video cuz i thought it looked cool i didnt know i needed it

  • wahhhh...i watched like 3 of your vids so far and you have SERIOUSLY mastered the cube...you are my idol :D

  • I have never seen that double flick U2 before, awesome!

  • i bet you are bold.
