Great job , especially the solo! Have you tried to play the pentatonic triplets in the beginning of the solo on the same string rather than on two strings. I think it would sound even more fluid. Jeff is known to play these extended positions...
Badass playthrough. I would give ya 10 stars if I could.
I'm currently working on learning this song myself. Doing it by ear, so it'll take me forever to figure it out... but I'll develop my own style in the process
Kick Ass Dude! and do i see a S5470 Prestige on the rack too? im trying to decide wich one to get now and its down to Xiphos or S5470 Prestige ... i have a Iceman now but want somthing new.
hey, you know how jeff makes that perfect * wauwwauw * sound , on the 2nd string 15th fret i guess you play it ? is it a artificial/pinch harmonic or just purely a very high bend?
I have never seen a live video of this so I am not sure. But for me it sounds just like a high bend. Maybe combined with a pitch harmonic? But I think that might sound different.
@Asphyx123 If you mean 1:19 He makes a harmonic tap and then the vibrato ... a Harmonic tap is where you gently tap the string 12 frets above of the actual note
@EchoedTears It's a tapped harmonic. After the note is struck you have to lightly tap a higher fret basically on the metal. Different locations of where you tap will produce different pitches. Not easy to do but fun when you nail it. Hope this was helpful.
@MetalheadWorking Oh my god, man honestly the ibanez specs blow the razorback into the ocean! Sure razorback is a great guitar i own the V255 And 7 string model. But ibanez is superior to the razorback because its ultra fin neck! and neck thru. The ibanez is better for Lead guitar. If your chugging power chords most the time razorback is the best choice. Xiphos is for the complex death metal bands
@alterbridge111 Because played it and become one with the guitar unlike anybody else did. So when people play the dean ML's you think DIME or trivium.
Thanks for the kind comments so far. I really appreciate the positive feedback. Keeps me motivated to try some harder stuff once in a while. Still messing around with some Symphony X stuff at the moment but not ready to post it yet (will take another couple of weeks (or months), hehe).
So far it works really well. I heard that, too. Some people think it wears out over 1 or 2 years. Maybe also when excessively used. But it's not like I'm divebombing through each and every song. Ask me again in 2 years =).
Feels really good so far. A lot of people seem to be worried because it's a bit "neck heavy" - which is true btw. - But as I mostly play sitting down it doesn't matter at all. Standing up it should also be easy to get used to. Or using a wider leather strap might fix it , too. After 1 or 2 days I also got used to the painted neck and it feels fast as my other guitars.
So no concerns left for me. The sound is great anyway =). Also on heavy distortion individual notes sound very defined.
Actually it's not a single coil. It's an Air-Norton S, which is basically a humbucker in singlecoil size. It sounds pretty good for my taste (usually don't like or use neck pickups as they have a very nasal sound).

@EchoedTears When i play it it's a 19th on the b string and you bend it like on the 15th fret of the 2nd string
JacksonX94 1 year ago
@EchoedTears He picks the string and then taps the note 12 frets higher so it becomes a harmonic.
