to all u haters..get a life..just cause u didnt make it dont knock someone else.... great video thanks for posting...good tag team... great wrestlers!
Pez used to train guys at the old WCW power plant. Pez passed away 5 years ago. I had a chance to interview Jim Powers at the Wrestling HOF in Albany, NY. Powers got jobbed out becuase Paul Roma buried him with the WWF office.
the wwf didnt use african americans very well during the 80' have to admit, i think Koko B Ware's record was like 1-1,000,000,000 the guy was a glorified jobber who got to work pay per view's and the only black guy's they used well were JYD and Bad News Brown but neither of them every held any titles or anything
I said the same thing. JYD was starting to lose a lot of matches after 1986. Butch Reed didn't get over, and Slick was the only manager that didn't manage a champion.
Like I've always said, Powers (and sometimes Jumpin' Jim Brunzell) never should have tagged out in these kind of matches.
But this was a serious misuse of Pistol Pez. Considering that he was a decent wrestler and VERY charismatic, you'd think that if they didn't make him a solid mid carder, they'd at least put him at the same level as the likes of Powers and Brunzell, where he'd lose the majority of his matches but still look rather strong and not as a complete jobber.
@Driftaka Yeah I remember watching a match of Whatley's taped at a WWF house show at MSG. Pistol sure went the distance against Tugboat. At the time I was a huge Tugboat mark and was frustrated that he didn't squash Pistol,LOL. It was a featured match tho and now that I'm older and scene Pistol's mic work and such, he was WWF/E's early 90's version of Scotty Goldman(aka Colt Cabana).
Mike, blame the bookers. I have no clue why they booked matches like this. And it's very sad to see the late Pez Whatley job to two never weres. Other than Pat Tanaka's reign as AWA World Tag Team champions with Paul Diamond, he had a mediocre career. I know he was brought in to job but at least let the guy have some offense or allow a few tags to Powers.
LOL....Why did Powers even bother with these tag matches? The typical format for him. Starts the match for his team...spends only 20 seconds in the ring....makes the tag and stands on the apron for the next 3 minutes watching his partner getting creamed.
Orient express was a bad ass tag team !

I didn't think Schiavone was with the company in 1990. I thought he left in 1989. Interesting.

The only time I can remember Sato wearing trunks in a match. I believe that Sato later returned to WWF as Hakushi's manager.

@filthiestfish Good point. He kind of looks weird in trunks doesn't he?
