This shows why groomers need training; but until training is required (which it is not) this kind of tramatic handling will continue. Three equipment mistakes are being made here! 1. the safety grooming loop is to long 2. the grooming arm is set to high. 3. No muzzle was placed over the dogs face. Adding to all that is the groomers left hand is holding the back of the dogs neck causing the grooming loop to push on the dogs throat. No concern for the dog shows a lack of k-9 understanding?
It is obvious this little one is scared to death. Couldn't you give him something to calm him. This is so sad for the dog. Maybe you could use a TLC approach. Put yourself in his position. If I were a professional groomer, I would not groom this dog unless I could calm him.
We don't sedate dogs at our grooming shop. If you were a professional groomer, you would understand that not all dogs are perfect little angels, and that groomers do have to deal with spoiled rotten screaming puppies from time to time. What kind of a TLC approach did you have in mind?! We are as gentle as possible, but the only solution for a dog like this is for the owner to actually WORK WITH the dog! (Which many don't, even when you show them how...)
i cant believe thats a typical day for you.. if your typical cliants dogs are like that something is wrong.i only get one or two of those a month maybe, and i groom 5-8 dogs a typical day five days a typical week.
Good job ignoring the screaming. It gets to me when ppl give in to little foo foo because she's cute and "oh, you're hurting her". What a rotten little dog. Makes me love my Aussies!
Hold them by the ears???????????? Are you retarded? The proper restraint is what's called a "Groomers Helper" Look it up. You can even make a home version as it's wayyy over priced. I have it, it's saved my sanity for years. I've been grooming for 18 years.
Are you?? A groomers helper does not stop the tantrums of they're heads - problem is the ones that act like that are the ones that were never groomed as a puppy from the beginning and they're owners treat them like babies and they are scared of everything. Question-- why would you lose your sanity if your doing a job you love????????
it kind of bugs me that you didnt stop to try something different

Okay, so it's not an everyday thing. But, it IS something that every groomer has to deal with occasionally.

For proper restraint, I hold them by the ears and hold the head back. They still thrash around but the head is under more control to avoid being bit.
