My guess is that James did the ritual ceremony, danced around like a fool chanting the lines the old guy in Jackie Chan adventures, and asking to be with Mary forever, and the "gods" wrecked the ship and made them stranded on the deserted island that is infested with Rompers, and Deliha (or whatever her name was from first game) be on the island driving them insane, and James decides to swim away from the island with Mary (who was brought back to life) and they were attacked by sharks. The End.

What ending do you think you're likely to get if you don't try to influence any endings? Not examining the knife or the letter/picture, healing as a necessity; basically just playing as normal?

I personally would probably be more likely to get the Leave ending. I tend to try to keep my health high, healing quickly, things like that, as well as wanting to ditch the baggage as quickly as possible.

Between the title you gave this video, the title for this video and the Q-Bert, I can't help but envision Mary being reborn with a squid-face.

Equally weird, I'm not even sure if the theme in this ending is on the OST.

B) The most recent run after having gotten 4/4 runs.

The gold color of Rebirth means that was one of the requirements for a 10 star rank. Oddly, for a 10 star rank, I think you either have to get Rebirth or Dog as the ending.

If mary does get brought back to life you got to wonder how she will look. Will disease re-infect her? And or will she look ugly or restored or will james need to make an offering to the gods to get her back? kinda wish they had done more with this ending

It's interesting to note that the "milky-white oil" that James got on the blue creek apartaments and the obsidian goblet that he finds on SH Historical Society might be what james used to make the "white wine" that is referenced on the Crimson Book.

one of my theories is maybe hearing other rituals like this, james successed, but he himself dies doing so and mary DOES come back to life. I dunno just a huntch.
