Damien Hirst is the main offender in this department. I love how refreshingly idiosyncratic Lynch's work is, there's very little pretension or ambitiousness in it... he just tries to recreate images he has in his head and makes effective art out of it.
Surely that depends on your opinion? Must admit I'm not a Hirst fan, but I dislike him because he's boring rather thsn because he's "elitist" or anything else
