I object. The Soviet teams of the 70's and 80's were as close to perfect as it gets. Canada had to thug it out in '72 to beat the Soviets when Ferguson and Clarke 9 ironed Kharlamov's ankle, and had to rely on Koharski's missed interference call on Lemieux's goal in '87. Canada has had some great teams, just not as great as the Soviets.

I think it's funny that America had to create all their own new sports. Were they afraid of sucking at all the existing sports?
Also, just an observation, to be good at a lot of your sports, basketball or football, for example, one has to either be extremely tall or extremely ripped, taking the fun out of sports for average, normal people. Ah well, at least they can settle for sensible sports like rugby or soccer (real football).

I just want to say , as an American , that I hope Team Canada wins it all in the next Winter Olympics. They are , no doubt , the most talented hockey team in the world and I was absolutely livid when they failed to win last Olympics. I object. The Soviet teams of the 70's and 80's were as close to perfect as it gets. Canada had to thug it out in '72 to beat the Soviets when Ferguson and Clarke 9 ironed Kharlamov's ankle, and had to rely on Koharski's missed interference call on Lemieux's goal in '87. Canada has had some great teams, just not as great as the Soviets.
