I'm out of practice for a few years now, but have an enormous amount of experience in amateur astronomy. I can tell you, in my personal experience - that looks like a meteor. They don't always light up, I've seen plenty that look like that.
Not to say that people shouldn't still be looking - because clearly there's a lot going on under our noses - but, let's not be silly here either. Keep your CCD cams on (do they still use those?) and if you get something - post it.
I think you're right but it was a really big and fast fly. lol
Seriously though, things that are close to the scope are blurry because of the focal length of the lens etc. Whatever it was it was farther away and must have been non aviation related because there are no running lights. So maybe a bird high up.
I doubt it was even a bird. It would be the same as the fly thing. I doubt it could even be a 747 airliner. Whatever it was was out in space and going real fast.
It had enough definition to be some distance from the scope but a airliner would have crossed the field of view much slower I would guess. A bird that was coasting not flapping in a fairly straight course and several hundred feet up is my guess. 9 frames out of a 30 FPS so less than a 3rd of a second to pass the moon.
in the original file the object just streaks by super fast. I had to watch it over and over again. maybe I should post the original as a video response. it might help people rule some things out.
