From Obama’s speech in San Francisco:

"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," he said.

"And it's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,"

From Obama’s Dreams of My Father: ; 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Obama’s Dreams of My Father:

I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.'

  • why cant we all get along, a color is a color. attitude is what is important. if only people would stop being ignorant. : /

  • The more we distinct between race and allow it to be a constant format for discussion, The more we will be "Divided."

Isn't it ironic that he only admits to being a muslim after his election, and yet prior to it, anyone whom even refered to his name as being muslim was regarded a racist or a profiler.

"DIVIDE AND CONQUER" sound at all familiar to any of you?

I guess you all fell asleep at the wheel.

    -The jerk.

  • Maybe because "profilers" would have said he was the enemy since it appears that we are at war with "all" Muslims. Oh yeah except the women in vails. We like them right? We're at war so the women in Afghanistan can have their bust out like American women right? Oh you thought it was to catch Osama Bin Laden. Remember him?

  • want to chat with singles

im on cam and bored xF

  • MORE WORDS,,,THIS TIME COPIED FROM MLK !

    PLAGIARIST !! What a fake !

His "glorious and historic " 3/18/08 SPEECH is NOT Obama's work, but MESMERIZED, again YOUNGER VOTERS!

  • Mesmerized?

  • This has got to be the worst speech I've ever heard from any politician. Barack Obama has what the scientists call the negro syndrome, and it means that he is incapable of holding repsonible positions.

  • Yeah lets put the capable folks that been in power since. Probably just like you and your scientists.

  • This is a major bitchslap to the Right's shock troops at Fox; let's see them whisper about his being a jihadist or a racist now.

  • He didnt write anything,... this is all from the heart,... true and honest.

Check it out,... he never looks at a clipboard,.. he's just free-flowing what he believe's

... he is and incredible speaker,.. I definately give him that

  • Often politicians will use a clear teleprompter that uses a glare on a glass plate to read from a tv offset 90 degrees.

However, one cannot tell if he used one for this speech based on this video.

  • No, it doesn't look like he has an ear piece, or is he reading anything.

  • Why is that important?

  • read the thread and the context it is in and you would have understood.

  • Look at cushe83 comments are we above that as a people. you can say what you want but Im a 48 year old white male and I did my research I looked in the library of congress to see what this man did. I was impressed.I grew up in Erie pa. alot of hate there. niggers honkeys monkeys whitey. had my ass beat many times.Beat many ass. He is a good man and I support him. My wish is that you all take the time ro find out what he really stands for its not nigger loving it about being a man

  • I wonder if he wrote this speech.

  • incredible, you think he may not have? why?

  • Candidates and politicians very rarely write their own speeches. Ben stein, the bueller guy, started out as a speech writer and attorney for Ford and Nixon.

  • It's final, he has become a race leader. Historical, I doubt it.

  • Our last chance to have a President that will talk to the people not a them..

A president that people can look down at or look up to but a President that talks straight..

If all of us who condemn this man; the Clinton shills who work for Rove, disinfo agents, and white supremacist, the right the left blacks hisp@anics asians whites etc. All of us Americans sit back and realize that criminals have operated inside the whitehouse for centuries in a bid for disunity.

    Obama is change & unity

  • i don't support sex education for kinder , gawddddd let them grow first!!

  • I support parents taking responsibility for their kids rather than sending them to an eight hour public school "babysitter" and not having something to do with the childs education. I mean failed parents is why we have people like all of you.

  • dis dude is very good

  • you have the right to make your comments, but that doesn't make your comments "right".

  • so u support extensive public school sex education, then?

  • "threw her under the bus", eh? nice literary flourish, but, as they say, it has no legs. What he did there was for balance, and it rang true to those with open minds and ears. Sorry if u can't hear it.

As to Michelle's comment about feeling proud of her country for the 1st time, I have to say I agree with her, but not in the myopic way u seem to understand it. What she no doubt meant, and what I mean, is a pride greater than she had ever felt - TRULY DEEPLY PROUD. and that's just what I am. ;-)

  • I hear ginko biloba might help with your mental challenge, veryproudnavymom.

it is a little painful to watch you advertise your hateful ignorance in public tho.

  • thanks for fueling their fire veryproud

  • I would tell you where to stick it, but that would only be divisive. Let me say instead, following Barack's fine example, that you may want to work to unearth the sources of your hateful bias (which has apparently resulted in truth-deafness). Here is a good man, speaking honestly and profoundly, stepping carefully to guide us all a-right. This 38 yr old white male in Florida couldn't be prouder to support his candidacy. ;-)

    peace.

  • U r right, but there in NO evidence that the Pastor was preaching hate for 20 yrs. Remember Pastor Wright put his life on the line for this country as an ex-Marine;he was ready to die for America,I don't think he is anti -american or racist , they just put a few seconds of his 36yrs of preaching to make him look bad. A first impression is a lasting impression, I think it is fair to review the Pastor's life and messages of those years before calling him racist or anti-american

  • what kind of serviceman is willing to hate America? I know some servicemen that don't like the way the country is, but they remember the country they were fighting for. Wright is a disgrace to servicemen and women.

  • so just because some one thinks a way, he does as well.... So when I am around white people and they say racist remarks about black, brown and other people...I'm racists too? And I think they way they do...Please...

Try to come up with something better!

  • Good speech, but it doesn't dismiss the fact you sat under a racist pastor for over 20 years. You are not going to talk your way out of this.

  • Talk his way out of what. All pasters and preachers talk about something they dont like about America, whether its abortion, race, jobs, or even war. It is their opinion on what they think and feel. If your pastor or priest say somthing that you dont like, will you leave from up under his teaching.

  • Attending a church or a synagogue is purely and voluntary choice based solely on your beliefs. I am a black American preacher with very liberal views. I believe in fairness for all people this is my total passion. If Obama was white and attended a church for 20 years under a white minister speaking like this his political career would be over. Let's be fair this was Obama's choice based on his beliefs now he has to deal with it.

  • fuck you bitch. You need to stop perpetuatign the stereotype that white people would have you beleive they never had a racist thought in their life allt he while beliveign blacks all have unplanned teenpregnancies and are criminals. Thjis very same person who typed this is the same on whom would have you beleive they were voting for barak untilt he pastor made that remark which is a lie

  • that's my opinion u fucking Cunt!

  • There are alternative words available to convey any opinion with concise accuracy. Gutter nomenclature is far less effective than a well crafted taxonomy designed to deliver the unsubtle sting of your point.

  • What do you possibly have to lose by voting for this man? the economy is at an all time low, forclosures, food and gas an all time high. for this you praise Bush. Unless you're a rich republican you're suffering with me my white brothers and sisters. Don't let the media convince you we are better off because John or Hillary are white. Just try something, someone else. Please!!!!!

  • bachazamano, you have alot to lose, our gun rights, our democracy.

  • it is time for a "black" president, or a "female" president. me personally though, putting race and sex aside. I want a good president, more than that I want an American president.

  • Thanks for posting- I wish people would LISTEN to the candidates..I know they are politicians with their shills in the audience (applaud remark about conservatives etc) nevertheless if people LISTEN to them, they will see them for what they are (it is what it is).I know obama, hill & mccain are socialist..not racist, like obama's church..I will vote for the lesser of the 3 reps of evil (socialism).mad mad mccain only because he'll take longer to ruin the greatest capitalist republic in the world

  • I remain unconvinced. If a friend or colleague of mine said "God damn America" I would demand an apology or loss of my friendship. I do not trust Hussein.

  • "Race" has become the prime issueof this presidential race--not the failing economy, not terrorism, not the Iraqi war!Forseeably, race will be a prime issue in an Obama presidency, and none of us can afford this. Race is and always will be problematic; but we've come a long way: an African-American is running for President, one of the richest women in the US is African-American. There are numerous black elected officials. We've a way to go, but we've come a long way since the 50s & 60s.

  • You're a racist stupid bastard. You just keep perpetuating evrythign Ive been saying. I called you a dumbass which is not discrete to any race and becuase I'm black and you coincidently can't see past that everything I say is racially motivated and you like many others beleive black people are born to hate and perpetuate physical violence to white people It's ashame there so many of you but most of you are to stupid to take advantage of the adtvantages supposedly taken away by affirmative action

  • U GOT THAT RIGHT MoveOn.. that's scary Obama's "GOD" is a racist Pastor. actually black ppl are more racist than any race. u can't say the "N" word but they are allowed to say "white trash" i am not black or white but asian. and i find it black ppl are more racist.

  • And yoru buddy garlfield is perpetuatign another myth. I love it there si almsot eery racist white stereotype on this vidios comemnt section. He's one of those whites whom si racist to the core but call him that and he gets offended. He beleives black people all, no matter age sex or what ever fall under one behavior which si shown when he saus we all use the word nigger but call him a racist and his neck turns red and not from pride either, I love it, kee the sterotype alive,

  • And yoru buddy garlfield is perpetuatign another myth. I love it there si almsot eery racist white stereotype on this vidios comemnt section. • cushe83, im not a fucking racist just like ur fucking idol, that's my opinion and u can't do anything about it. and quit calling names just express ur fucking opinion, and quit using that old line "because i'm black" im tired of that fucking excuses!!

  • If BO had embraced his heritage prior to SC, he would have already won the nomination. The speech was successful in that he was able,to redirect focus from his poor judgement in choosing this man as his mentor and the church as his place of worship.Political expediency was the goal.He was getting a good portion of white votes, yet if he loses the nomination,it will exist in large part due to his connection to a church filled with AAs hatred of white americans and this country. What a bitter irony!

  • Yeah I called you a dumbass o that amkes me racits, keep provign my point, becuase I'm black that mean s eveyr thign I say or do is racially motivated becuase you have lumped all black people under one behavior anf thats hatign white people. Thats hillarious. You are a racist son fo a bitch and you just proved it.

  • Racism or not,Obama is an empty suit,he will not cure americas ills.He will continue the downward sprial of america.

  • Bitch you weren't votign for him to begin wiht, I said it before and I'll say it again, I beleive white people had fun actign like they were liberal enough to see past Baraks race , you had fun it made you feel better about yoru self as a person but you are what you are, white americs fears black people whetehr it be barak or some random guy on the street, you can't seem to differentiate and it speaks volumes

  • the whole point of the speech was to enlighten people what he has had to go through and why hillary's people were wrong for using his race agaisnt him as if it were some saving grace, we can see now that it wasn't becuase all fo you are now using it agaisnt him.

  • Bullshit , Obamas pastor is not being elected to an office position so it shouldn't matter , and the only reason it does is becuase people were tryign to find fault with barak's campain becuase as I said they were not comfortable with the prospect of barak to begin with

  • cushe83, im asian and not white, u thought im being racist coz u thought i was white hahahahhaha!! i hate racist ppl that's all! and terrorists! ur candidate is really scary, grew up with muslim stepdad, worshiping his big time racist pastor, equals what? SCARY!

  • cushe83 , Obama's worshiping this racist pastor. Obama's stepfather was a muslim, so what do u expect from OBAMA? he is a racist, i don't care if he is black or white, he is a fucking racist, worshiping this kind of pastor who hate white ppl, WHAT KIND OF PASTOR IS THAT , AND OBAMA IS WORSHIPING HIM!! SCARY!

  • based on this little display of ignorance and poor logic, thinking people will disregard future posts from garfieldUSA. I know this white male in Florida will be doing so.

    peace.

    Obama 08! and I can't wait!

  • if I buy you a tree to hug, will you promise not to vote?

  • i really like around 8. its really true. ive lived with black white and brown and we all want the same thing. but if you live in the city your going to go to a shitty high school and your gunna have a shitty life. thats why we need EQUAL HIGH SCHOOL AND FREE HIGHER EDUCATION. WE ARE THE ONLY WESTERN COUNTRY WITH OUT SOME FORM OF THIS!!!!!!!!

  • I'll tell you why becuase you were never comofortable with the prospect of barak potentially leading the country you wanted to pretend to be liberal and act like you saw past his race becuase it made you feel better about your self as a person until his pastor made that remarks.

  • You're a dumbass, I didn't say you were rich. And if you're not rich how in the fuck does what the pastor say apply to you for you to take it the way you are,

  • might want to narrow that down, not all blacks are like that,Many are but then again, people of other ethnicity or like that as well. so you can say that americans as a whole need to shape up, right? still thumbs up for bringing up the issue though.

  • doesn't something need to be around more than a day to be considered historical?

  • Not in the eyes of Obama supporters.

  • Don't sugar coat it say black people becuase thats what you ment, see thats my problem witht he white people whom are potentialy running wiht thsi pastor contreversy. Half of you are as racist or more so then the pastor whom your findign fault with and never was comfortabel with abrak beign in hsi position as is.

  • nope. when something truly momentous happens, it is clear that history will preserve it. nice try tho.

  • Oh shut the fuck up. America is run by rich white men, if it isn't run by rich white menthen whom is incontrol of the government poor black men ? White people were looking for any excuse to not feel bad about not feelign comfrotable with him int he wjite house becuase fo their own issues with race and they found it. But call a spade a spade don't use Obamas pastor as an excuse.

  • Shut the fuck up what would you know about the trials of african americans

  • thank u obama, i understand everything your saying, my grandmom was mixed black and white, which makes my great grandmom white, we dont know anything about the white side because they didnt want anything to do with the mixed blood, so i understand, and i have dark skin, i have family of every race like u tnks for bringing this snake to head, finally

  • "He evens says that he knows that this can't happen on his term then why base his WHOLE campaign on making this change?"

every change needs to start somewhere... come on, i know that we live in a world of instant gratification, but- did you REALLY believe that Obama was promising to change the nation entirely in so little time? of course not. what he promises is a start... we need to start somewhere.

  • nice name white vixen? Your not a black woman are you?

He wont disown his pastor, as racist as he might be at times, because the good in that pastor taught him about wholesome morals and values growing up. Do we disown our family because they can do stupid things? We take the good from what we can in them. Obama is down to earth and can identify with all races and all social-economic spectrums unlike the usual elite candidates. Its time for something new and fresh in America.

  • Oh please dont use his pastor as an excuse , bitch you were never going to vote for him any way, you just found an excuse becuse your the racist majority the pastor was refferig to in the first place

  • thank you.

  • He evens says that he knows that this can't happen on his term then why base his WHOLE campaign on making this change? He never said this before. He always made the remark that he was going to unite the country yet here he says otherwise. Sorry Obama, but don't make a whole campaign in a belief that you yourself dont believe can happen.

  • because change has to start somewhere, that's why ;-P and i seriously dont imagine McBush or Billary changing ANYTHING in washington.

  • Nevermind he is addressing it.. lol

  • But what he doesnt seem to get is that this type of behavior from his pastor continues to hurt race relations. You cannot have one side being allowed to be racist while the other side is condemned for it. All of it should be condemned and to not do so is unfair... to not do so continues to escalate the divide. If he would admit racism exists on all sides I would buy into it. Special prevliges occur on both sides... and there should be none. Maybe he will discuss in part 4...

  • Couldn't agree more lovemd964

This was a great speech. Unfortunately, it's a speech that's much too smart to be dissected appropriately by the hacky denizens of mid-morning cable TV. And when you got the # 1 rated news network Fox News spewing propaganda by not putting this to rest, I'm not so sure how it will translate into votes.

I hope he wins BUT he is up against big forces now. It looked easy on the begining BUT that's because they didn't expect him to get this far.

  • @MessagesOfFreedom

Could you contradict yourself a little quicker next time? Thanks.

  • TOP SPEECH! WELL DONE, OBAMA! This is the truth so desperately needed!!

  • TOP SPEECH! WELL DONE, OBAMA! This is the truth so desperately needed!!

  • Yes, this speech is truly historical.

  • The best State of the Union speech ever delivered. This man will be President. I am White, and I am proud of this American.

  • @MessagesOfFreedom:

I admit, it would be ideal if Obama had more foreign policy experience, in particular. However, the one candidate who definitely does have more experience (McCain) has been powerless to resist the Bush administration. So maybe that's not the best criteria to consider, here.

In spite of it all, there *are* many good, brilliant people working in the government -- what we need is a leader to bring them together. That man is Barack Obama.

  • Did you ignore the part where he talks about what he wants to do about it? (8 mins). Have you read his plan for America, which is posted on his website? What do you want to convince you, numbers and amounts and timelines? Do you ask the same for YOUR candidate?

  • If you see all of that, then you need to stop looking at republicans because that is what they are guaranteeing you.

  • if everywhere you look, even in the brighter corners of this shadowed world, you see only bleakness, the problem, my friend, is in your eyes.

    peace be with you. ;-)

  • Glad I found this one! I really like this portion of the speech, the most segregated hour of American life occurs on Sunday morning - oh how true! I wasn't surprised by any of Rev. Wright's comments and actually agreed with the majority of them, and I'm white, but maybe I've just had the priveledge of not being sheltered in my whiteness. This is a speech for history!!!!

  • Please post pt. 4. Thank you!

  • Great speech. Thanks for posting. It's nice to see this posted in its entirety.

  • yes! thank you thank you thank you. I was only finding clips of it.

truly historical. the truth just rings out.

  • Your Welcome

  • when have you seen a high-end politician speak so eloquently and frankly about race in this country? Oh right. Never! Historical, indeed.

  • Your boy bush hasn't made anything nearly as historical in his entire political career.
