From the video "the north simply out voted them" uhh... isn't that how it is supposed to work? You have a vote, one side out votes the other and that is how you determine the winner.
Also, the comment that Lincoln was not even on the southern ballots. The video leaves out the part where the southern states would not allow a republican candidate on the ballot. Had they allowed it, Lincoln would have done pretty well in NC, Tenn. and VA.
@Malscotay Lincoln did not want to be on the ballot in the Southern States. It was not until the very late 1800s or early 1900s (depending on State) that the concept of State controlled ballot access ocurred. If there had been support for Lincoln he would have gotten votes in those States.
what the... Lincoln won the election fairly. Even if one democratic candidate had run lincoln would have still won, because it's electoral college votes that matters. It was the south states that called for this system during the framing of the constitution to make up for lower white pop. They lose un that system and lincoln is evil? Look, the tide was turning, the republicans nearly won the previous 1856 election and the party was brand new..
You need to read the notes of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and the Federalist papers written by Madison. Your comment is one of the reasons these videos were done, a fresh look at these issues would help many people undertand of the bitter disputes that common today.
