Careface2k6: Good luck with this piece. There was no music available when I learned it and I consider my versoin inaccurate to the original... It's not the most difficult piece to do but it has a public eye that makes it interesting to diverse listeners. Well worth the time to learn it.
This is inspiring. Currently trying to tackle this one, it's not easy, but not impossible either. A very nice example of a fingerstyle song that manages to sound very interesting and dynamic, while not being overly difficult.
Thanks for the encouragement. This is an old video and I don't do as many arangements as I used to. I hope you will check out my compositions at my web site, though they are not represented by videos, only audio.
Thank you for your kindness. I will suggest and exercize that shortened my path to better technique. Happy to share it with you but it's not on my web site yet.
@GordonRowland Hey Gordan, great playing... could you please do a video lesson.... there aren't many out there that help with the picking and the notes once the song reaches to a faster tempo. Thank you!
@GordonRowland Thanks! But unfortunately I don't have a skype, and I live in Aus. However I think, if you were to post lessons on your channel, you will get quite a lot of views and more subscribers, and it will help out those who are in need of it. Just a suggestion.
Thank you for your kind encouragement. Good luck on your studies. We all cram for a test once in a while. I'm doing some writing tonight that describes a great artist that has moved me deeply. It is this movement of communication of art to art that inspires me tonight, as I am grateful for each artist of any study.
mr.gordon, i've have watched this many times and the last time i listed to it i was doing a 15 page final for class and 11 weeks later im in the same situation so now i thank you again for keep my mind focused and calm.
Thanx for the encouragement. That prelude was recorded years ago and I've been working on it again recently. I will be doing a video of it for my web site at guitarwork so you should enjoy the upstep of it in the near future.
Hi Gorgon. I was checking out the music added to the Voyager Golden Record, in particular Bach and I came across your rendition of the Preludio for BWV 1006 on Wikipedia. Amazing! And nice to see a video of you here on Youtube.
Jamie Bridges at A room with a view studio in Petaluma CA is the person to contact if you plan to record. Give him a call if you're serious, and let me know if your experience is as good as mine. However the video of classical gas was done by a neighbor of mine that has a camera, but is not a photographer by profession.
Masterful and Gorgeous rendition!-excellent playing! It's great to hear a musician with a fresh approach and interpretation -yours is played with passion and has a nice groovet it. .I'm jealous ;) makes me want to recorded on my own
channel!lol! You have great ideas and your tone is awesome!
Also...great artistic priduction choices...works really well visually for the classical guitar(Black on black attire with black background) Beautiful performance! -Kevin
You have guitar skills; that's obvious, but all I see are positive comments. It is due time for an honest critique/opinion.
Personally, I do not think it is very good. It definitely lacks the same emotion that Mason Williams brought to it. I know this is your version of it, but you fail to interpret this piece adequately. You've changed the melodic pattern in just about every measure... I guess the 5th fret barred Am and D arpeggios and the descending G to C to F to Bb run are too hard for u?
Thaks for the comment.and encouragement. GuitarWork is a organization of guitar fellowship. Check it out. We are in California. If you're in that area you should get in touch with me. My office # 415 297 3542
I didn't get your name. Thanks for the comment. Let me know if you get stuck and I'll see if I can help. I live in the San Francisco Bay area. It's great to see young guitar players getting a good foundation. Many bypass sight reading because tablature is so available. Be sure to sight read and listen to Mr Morgan regarding technique. Be sure and do rest stroke scales, and don't hesitate to call me. 415 297 3542
Dear Gordon, I love the way you play. best video i have seen no mistakes at all, (that i could see) haha thats all that really matters really. i am 15 years old i have been doing guitar for 4 years. classical for 1 year i started fingerstyle guitar lessons last year with my teacher Dave Morgan. not the electric guitarist. but he just gave me the sheet music to this and i cant get past the first time it speeds up hahaha. i admire your playing Gordon.
I don't play this piece much any more, but when I do it's easier than most to remember. Good luck with your advancement. I hope your guitar gets as worn out as mine.
I don't know where the tabs would be as I only learned the piece by listening to a vinal record. That was long ago. Mason Williams did publish the staff music and there is a version by Eric Clapton with fingering I consider better than mine.
what would be easyer to learn?? classical guitar or ordinary acoustic?? ( i prefer the sound of a classical).... i just want to learn the basics whether its on an electric, acoustic or classical, thanks :D
You should learn how to play on an acoustic first (nylon or steel string) first, then electric. It's easier to play an electric guitar than an acoustic which is why acoustic is a good starting platform. It all depends on how good you wanna get and what stuff you wanna play.
Careface2k6: Good luck with this piece. There was no music available when I learned it and I consider my versoin inaccurate to the original... It's not the most difficult piece to do but it has a public eye that makes it interesting to diverse listeners. Well worth the time to learn it.
