This O'Dowd cat makes me want to puke. Is he really on Clinton's finance committee? Who cares what this Jerimiah Wright pastor has said?
Just think, we have thousands sitting in adoration at RFK stadium listening to the Pope Benny Hill, the head of a church which has actively nourished and protected sexual prdators. Pedo-phelia is in the culture of the RC Church - has been for hundreds of years. This Jerimiah Wright incident pales in comparison.
Why does Hillary have Elton John and this Irish guy raising money for her? Isn't that illegal? She can't have fundraisers that are not American citizens.
IDIOTS don't realize that saying that there is a lot of racism in America that whites are responsible for (i.e. what the KKKA comment was saying) is not racist. Pointing out the existence of racism is not a racist act.
Blacks, whites, yellow and brown--it doesn't matter who becomes president of the United States-- McCain, Clinton, Obama because nothing will change for the common citizen. All three of these candidates; John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barrack Obama are already bought and paid for! They are owned by special interest groups who promised them riches beyond belief.

You are an idiot. The idea that someone named "Barack Obama" is a paid insider is ridiculous especially considering the fact that he is not taking any PAC money or money from federal lobbyists.
Friend, I noticed that you call everyone who disagrees with you "an idiot." You do this completely unaware of the educational credentials of the person you are attacking.
I would invite you to become a United States senator. Long before you achieved that goal, presuming you have the education, you would be financially enslaved to one of the two dominant political machines, Democrat or Republican. You would be their "little pulpit!"
PS: Please educate yourself and refrain from name-calling.
USA is USA and KKK is KKK,what the Rev meant is USA(supposedly cradle of humanity, land of the free and opportunity and equality) Has moved from its position as was writen in the founding documents to KKK cradle(which is distroy all those who arent like us).And on that note no one can dispute his views otherwise, just look at Iraq,Afghanistan,Japan,Rwanda, etc.
Geraldine Ferraro may not be a blatant racist, but she certainly speaks and behaves in a way in which she appears bitter and angry. She's like the old gal at the office who thinks she is entitled simply because she's been there forever. She's becoming irrelevant in the world and she's letting us all know how pissed off she is. How embarrassing for her. She needs to get over herself. And seriously, she never had a snowball's chance in hell of becoming VP. Guess I'm a 52 yr-old female moron.
Hahaha Obama supporters are now calling people out for being "bitter and angry"-this is the campaign of a man with no qualifications or legitimate argument to hold the presidency. When Obama supporters talk about the "urgency of now" they're talking about the vulnerability of voters to be raped into a mediocre administration after 8 years of George Bush.

What bizarre language. It just sounds so off. I don't think folks are going to buy any of these kinds of inflated claims. I kinda feel sorry for the Clintons and their supporters. They are flawed just as McCain and Obama are flawed in their own ways, and they just can't get over losing. They need now to reimagine themselves as guardians of some great secret truth, on a divine mission to save the poor ignorant voters from themselves. It's all fantasy, but it gets them really worked up.
Why doesn't she ask him about Hillary's support of Geraldine Ferraro? She is a blatant racist and Hillary didnt get rid of her for like 3 or 4 days.
On top of that, it is funny that this guy called Wright crazy for saying that Hillary had never been called a nigger.
Does that mean that she has? is he saying that Wright is ridiculous to say that? I dont think she has ever been called a nigger. But then again wut do i know.
Also, Obama never said he heard Wright say what those videos showed.
Are you a complete idiot? Obama can't get rid of a retired pastor that has no role in his campaign (and has NEVER had any role). And Geraldine Ferraro has been brought on every major media network to comment more and more. So, she hasn't been "silenced." The opposite has happened. She has been given a platform.
Another Clinton crazy. They refuse to acknowledge as Obama has, that America is full of racists on both/all sides. How do they all know Obama DIDN'T express his disagreement with Wright? MORONS!
Hillary & Bill Clinton are collecting Pinocchios ('>')like bad actors at the Razzies. They lie, plant questions, sling mud & shed crocodile tears; like this razzie-winning performance Hillary pulled in New Hampshire. Morons like Carville gave Clinton the kind of advice that sent him chasing the skirts of fat birds, while Hillary was "under sniper attack" in Bosnia! Carville is an ill-bred oddball, like racist freak Ferraro. America is tired of being messed by the Bush/Clinton/Bush dynasties
white america is not a racist statement. its not insulting. its describing the white race.
god damn america thats in the bible means that god damned the nation that don't live by his commandments. nothing racist about that, i have heard white preacher say the same thing.
we do live in a country that is controlled by rich white men. thats a fact. and there is nothing racist about that
continue--- farrahkan is not obamas pastor. Definition- GREAT- of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average. are you saying that hitler didn't do anything above average. that not racist.
white people haven't evolved yet. means the planet would be more advance and loving if whites would share the planet instead of trying to enslave every none white.
If he feels the speaks for the Clinton campaign, then his ignorance of real American life worries me. how can he compare jeremiah wright to david duke?
I actually thought the Hillary Clinton camp would reconsider their strategy but obviously the kitchen sink will never stop..they keep on repeating lies, even after Barack Obama responded, even now, with the Wright's speeches available in context..it's frustrating and it would be wrong and simply unjust if they succeed.
My White pastor when I was growing up stated that America was #1 due to God and therefore Americans were superior to all other nationalities. This is a white pastor speaking before the days of YouTube. How many of my White friends feel the same way? And yet no one gets on them for being racist. Again, I am White and 100% behind Obama! He did not say anything racist. We all have racist members of the family, let's just all be adults and admit this.
he is a white racies, whites have no say at all in being ofended the fuck wright wasnt joking hillary never got called a nigger but all black ppl are called that 2 there face or behind there backs we fail bad 4 the jews that was notting to wat still happens 2 day ive been 2 jail because i got pulled over by a pig aka cop and got hit because i wouldnt let him choke me in front of my kids,he could of shot me but any way pig lost some teeth i won the case but if i was all white i would be alright
fuck hillary, she is a peace of shit shes thinks that being a woman is as hard as being anything other than white not white trash they get it bad 2 but any way, bill was getting head and she stuck with him wat a strong woman, haha all she is the same thing bush, clinton, bush, clinton, vote mcpain he will make it rain with death, and send us all 2 hell, well most,
Ok we have a choice of Billary(Whitewater, Bosnia lies, Doubletalk, Dirty old politics, Monica Lewinsky, Norman Hsu,Nafta, Paula Jones,Failed Health Care etc)or we have a choice of McBush(Lobbyist ties, 100 years of war, senile confusion of countries & extremists, embracement of Bush Policies, doesn't know about the economy). Both of which approved this war which is pulling us into recession. No thanks, I'll take the guy with the bad pastor!!!
Niall O'Dowd is crapping his drawers because Billary cannot possibly win re-election without a miracle happening. Look for more desperate comments in the future.
Marian Finucane is a great interviewer - finally someone had the nerve to ask whether or not Reverend Wright was telling the truth. No U.S. commentator would dare ask such an obvious question because the answer is YES.
It's almost like we like in a society full of OSTRICHES. You know, the people who stick their heads in the sand and pretend like everything thing is totally fine. Race has been the sore subject of this country for a very long time. Once someone is candid about it everybody freaks out. I understand how white fellow citizens hate it to be called racists but it's almost like they are basking in the moment here by calling out Wright. He was being HONEST about the BLACK experience.
why blame obama 4 wat wright said,do i blame senflied 4 cramer, cops 4 pulling me over on my way 2 work or any other kind of shit that happens 2 black people everyday,if your white it does not mean your right
Maybe people should understand that sound bytes from Fox News are selective snippets. I am white and I don't think that what Reverend Wright said was any more inflammatory than what Ted Haggard, Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell spew or spewed on a daily basis. Nobody looks at the reverse like when McCain reverses his opinion on someone he called "an agent of intolerance" and now endorses. Stop beating the drum hoping that you can beat it loud enough to drown out your own hypocrisy.

sfranks105 are you fucking serious ??? your going to compare Jerry Falwell endorsement of john mccain to sitting in a pew for 20 years, marrying you, baptizing your kids, being your spiritual mentor, being the inspiration to your best selling book, and being on your religious committee. I often believe that liberals cannot possibly be that stupid and are just saying shit that benefits their political views, unfortunately no one ever went poor by overestimating the stupidity of America .
McCain seeked out Falwell's endorsement after Falwell said over 20 years of crazy shit. Falwell said way crazier things than Wright did. Oh and John Hagee... LOL!
"God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve" ~Jerry Falwell
"All hurricanes are acts of God because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that." ~John Hagee
I said what Wright said is no more inflammatory than what the Christian Reich (sorry right) spews daily. It is hypocrisy to not be outraged that McCain would speak at Liberty "University" after all the crazy things Falwell had said. It is the smart man that educates himself on the truth but maybe you live by Jerry's rules "Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions." Jerry Falwell or maybe you follow this one "Textbooks are Soviet propaganda." guess who, Jerry Falwell

sfranks105 Since your discussing hypocrisy do your criticisms extend to obama's Christian beliefs and pastor wrights or is black liberation theology and black jesus different enough from the Christianity that you hate.
I don't hate Christians, I say Christian Reich because Falwell and the like care/cared nothing for the African Americans in this country or any other. I disagree as most of us do, including Obama, with some of the things Reverend Wright said but in fact we all say things that shouldn't be said at times. Should we judge Obama for something someone else said, absolutely not, should we hope our candidate condemns comments, by his supporters, made out of anger, absolutely, but he already did.

sfranks105 about judging obama by umm guilt by association was not really the point. Though it of course does say something about judgment that he chose this pastor but that's irrelevant to our discussion. The discussion was whether its morally equivalent to equate mccains endorsement from a controversial pastor with obama's choice of church for 20 years. The answer is no, most Americans see the difference, including liberals, but they ignore facts that don't suit their political views.
well, conservative, if you're not judging Obama by guilt of association, what's this talk about moral equivalence? Pretty underhanded and sleazy on your part. I call THAT immoral. Obama has denounced the statements in question, he has consistently spoken out against racism, take for example the MLK day address he gave. Wright's statements do not represent Obama's views. He said that there is more to Wright than those soundbites and that he sought Wright's spiritual not political advice.
Any further questions? You cannot judge Wright or Obama's relationship of 20 years based on a few soundbites. Their relationship started when Obama worked as a community advisor together with the churches. He doesn't have to agree with every political view, and it doesn't mean that he has to censor the pastor's words. As has been pointed out to you, most pastors make outrageous statements. That was not the essence of their relationship. Your mind is stuck in your narrow-minded attacks.

vertigate your comments show that you have a reading deficiency. Though I admit comments on youtube get misplaced and perhaps you didn't see the order of the comments, the trick is to click see all. That usually puts it in the correct order. sfranks105 tried to establish double standards because they were not jumping on mccain, so my comments were to defend mccain, not to insult obama. but you just spout ad homenium attacks about nothing, shut up obamaniac.
No reading deficiency at all. Your logic is faulty and biased and your schtick is sleazy. I asked a simple question: What's the moral equivalence you are talking about? You said Obama's choice was not morally equivalent to the McCain endorsement. Obviously you're implying his choice was morally inferior. Yet at the same time you said that Obama's judgement was irrelevant and it wasn't a question of guilt by association. So what the heck are you talking about? And quit the ridicuous name calling.
Incidentally you said the same thing about the comparison to Jerry Falwell in your first post in this thread. So don't try to make it out as if you're not saying it, when that's all you're saying.

vertigate your an idiot. go away.
getting an endorsement from a pastor is different from going to the church of a pastor. I don't know how to make it clearer for you. you have more than a reading deficiency.
My point was, that you tried to make it out as if you weren't attacking Obama while you were doing just that. So now that you have conceded that, remains the question what moral equivalent you are talking about. I agree that the two things are different, but as I pointed out you cannot judge Obama's relationship with his pastor based on a few soundbites taken out of 20 years of sermon. As I said their relationship began when Obama worked as a community organizer together with the churches.
There is no guilt by association, because Obama has denounced Wright's statements in question and consistently put out a different message. He has in fact been very critical of racial tensions even in the black community. However it's not his place to censor Wright nor is his choice of church based on just that. He sought spiritual advice not political advice, and had a close personal relationship with that pastor, which was based on more than those soundbites.
You can't judge their relationship, that's just a fact. And the only reason people like yourself are blowing this out of proportion is for political reasons. It has no relevance. I didn't jump on McCain because religious people madness bores me and because I don't mind McCain. But you are attacking Obama for political reasons, no more, no less.

vertigate I maintain that you're an idiot. Lets leave it at that. I was replying, not initiating the conversation with sfranks105. he cried double standards. I am arguing that there is no double standard. How you inferred from that comment that I am attack obama for political gain and making the Jeremiah story into an issue because it suits me shows that you have trouble with logic.
You insinuated that Obama was accepting Wright's views. That's a sleazy, underhanded attack. You said it's not "morally equivalent to equate" McCain's endorsement to Wright's relationship with Obama. Again sleazy and underhand (and horrific grammar). The fact is, you cannot judge their relationship based on a few soundbites and you know it, and the only reason you're exploiting this whole situation is to besmirch Obama for political reasons. Even McCain has defended Obama on that issue.
if you're a McCain supporter you might be interested to hear what McCain had to say about the whole Jeremiah Wright issue early on. Obviously McCain is above his supporters on that.
We could argue all night. McCain was wrong about accepting the endorsement but no one questions that? Moral, definitely not, considering it was only to establish himself as the republican nominee.Party before country isn't it. Guilt by association, if its good for Obama then its good for McCain. By your logic since McCain never went to their church he should accept an endorsement by any radical leader who says ignorant and hateful things as long as he doesn't seek their counsil.Pure Ignorance

sfranks105 when people endorse you, they are accepting your views. When you seek council, or go to their church to listen to sermons, you are accepting some of their views.
conservative, didn't you say further up, that there is no guilt by association? First of all, as I have already pointed out, you go to a church for spiritual guidance and maybe to be grounded in the community. You do NOT seek political advice in a church. As for the statements in question Obama has denounced them and his political message was consistently a different one. So your underhanded insinuation about "accepting some of their views" is deliberately misleading.
The underlying accusation really boils down to Obama holding racist views (even though even the soundbites were more complex than that). But let's look at it. He has addressed racism in the black community when there was no political need for him to do so, and he has denounced it.
watch?v=Kf0x_TpDris
It's been part of his message throughout his political career. So really, your insinuation is nothing but besmirching his real message. And most people understand that.

vertigate did you really read all my comments ??? your an obamaniac and i can't help if you perceive my comments to be anti-obama. its like beating a dead horse, THE CONVERSATION WAS ABOUT DOUBLE STANDARDS. Does the caps help with comprehension ??? the obama pastor thing is more of an issue than the mccain Jerry Falwell, in fact the beginning of the conversation was an attack on mccain, or trying to make a wash of obama's pastor issue. please read all comments, stop assuming, stop inferring.
Correction, sfranks said something about double standards. YOU REPLIED BY ATTACKING OBAMA, and claiming it was a lot worse what he did and making your sleazy underhanded attacks while claiming you weren't attacking him. You're a hypocrite. You have already conceded that point in an earlier post, so I don't see any need to continue this argument. You are obviously not equipped for a reasonable discussion, and it's obvious you have nothing to say. It's all there for everyone to read. Case closed.

vertigate to attack grammar on youtube discussion posts is really lame. how someone writes an essay for university and how someone writes on MSN/youtube/forums is completely different. sigh, and yes i did say it was a lot worse, that's how i am proving there is no double standard. i am saying obama situation is worse than mccain, which is why the media is covering obama and his pastor, not mccain. Obviously the journalists and pundits agree with me.
conservative777, I am sorry, pundits by their very definition exploit soundbites for political propaganda. Most serious journalists, and even McCain and Mike Huckabee have defended Obama against that smear campaign launched by the FOX pundits. Even Chris Wallace, a FOX reporter himself, came out to denounce the smear campaign by his own network. There was a smear campaign against Obama, there was no smear campaign againt McCain. These are pretty much established facts by now.

vertigate it was not just fox news, it made its rounds on all the networks. Mccain btw has had to face a smear machine, its called the new york times. They accused mccain for having an affair with a lobbyist with simply rumors as evidence. Trinity, which preaches black liberation theology, controversial btw and not the norm in a black church, it was only looked into now. On the flip side, mitt Romney was attacked viscously for being a Mormon. Liberals can't see liberal biasness.
Ok, now you're just getting desperate. Bringing up Romney and the NYT is just ludicrous. It has nothing to do with this and the reporting is not comparable at all. I never looked into the McCain scandal, but the Wright videos were uploaded at least 20 times in the most discussed section on YT and were played in a 24/7 loop on FOX. It was unavoidable, you could not escape it. I repeat myself, the Obama smear was even recognized by FOX reporter Chris Wallace himself.
Your comparisons and underhanded attacks are just weak and frankly too ridiculous to deal with anymore. Case closed (really this time). Go ahead exposing yourself.
And btw, of course investigating lobbyist connections and possibly related legal issues and political influencing should be more newsworthy than controversial remarks made in a church by Obama's pastor, not even himself. Your twist that it's somehow the other way around ... as I said. I rest my case. This is too ridiculous now. You're spinning out of control. You're a caricature of a smear machine. Give me a break. You're not even good at it.
And as for Romney being questioned about his Mormon faith earlier than Obama about Wright, you seem to be forgetting that FOX and Clinton tried to attack Obama as being a Muslim first. Claiming he went to a Madrassa (FOX), sending out libelous emails (HRC), sending out photos (HRC), pressing his middle name (pundits, FOX, Reps), claiming he was raised a Muslim (FOX, Reps) and on and on. It's not as if their smears weren't obvious. They play these things like a poker hand whenever it suits them.

vertigate your opinion is not what's being expressed in the main stream news so go cry a river. The pastor thing for obama is permanent damage while jerry falwell endorsement did no damage.
I said nothing about permanent damage either way. We'll see about that. No one knows that yet, yourself included. The main stream media recognizes that the Wright smear campaign was blown out of proportion. That's very much in agreement with my opinion. And you haven't made a case why it really matters either. The whole smear is just based on insinuations, underhanded attacks and stoking racial tensions. In the long run, there'll be enough people who base their choice on more substantive issues.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
vertigate i don't have to make a case why it matters, i only had to prove that one was far more serious than the other accusation but you never seemed to understand the premise of the discussion with sfranks105. btw, sfranks105 clearly knew what i was saying based on his responses, he continued to attack jerry falwell.
The point is YOU DIDN'T PROVE ANYTHING. LOL Obama doesn't agree with Wright's positions. His association with the man was not based on the few soundbites that were played excessively during the smear campaign. Obama met Wright as a community organizer and he developed a personal relationship with the man. You can't judge the relationship based on a few soundbites taken out of 20 years of sermon. So what do we take from that that matters? NOTHING!
It's not up to Obama to censor the pastor, and Wright's statements are no worse than what other pastors say. Let's see if you'll finally get it. The media have already caught on to it. Oh and one more thing:
conservative said: "i don't have to make a case why it matters"
Quit trying to hide your attacks as a defense and in the process absolving yourself of the responsibility to make a case for your attacks. It's ridiculous. You made no case, you proved nothing. End of story.
I wasn't talking to sfranks, I was calling YOU out on your smear attack against Obama. How stupid is your argument to say, that you used the attack as a defense and hence it's not an attack? Are you really that dense? If you make an attack I call you out on it. It's as simple as that. What is the difficult part that you don't understand about that? That's the dumbest "meta-argument" I have heard in a long time. Knock that out of your stupid head.

vertigate you jumped into a discussion I was having with someone else. The topic was about double standards, I did not initiate an attack on obama but if you really want to put words in my mouth and than debate it, that's fine. Also your argument about 30 sec sound clip is just bullshit, I know what james cone and Dwight Hopkins views are, the founder of black liberation theology, it's a radical church.
I say it once again. I called you out on your underhanded smear attack against Obama that you posted on a public forum. If you wanted to have a private conversation with sfranks you should have used email as your medium of choice. I can read your posts, so I can respond to it. And again, you haven't made a case why Wright matters. This new attempt using Cone and Hopkins is just another insinuated, sleazy attack. Obama is not a radical, his message has consistently spoken out against that.
I can point to racist and radical elements in almost any religion. Mormonism claims that black people were punished by God with black skin for not standing up to Satan. The bible contains some of the most horrific quotes against homosexuals. The statements that were already pointed out to you made by Pat Robertson and Falwell are worse than what Wright said. It's nothing but a smear. Obama met Wright as a community organizer and developed a personal and spiritual relationship.
Their relationship was not defined by controversial statements. Obama is not a radical, not a racist, he has pushed a very positive agenda in his political career, dealing with ethics reforms and community issues among others. You're pushing a ridiculous smear that has already been abandoned by the main stream media. You're way behind.

Look, this really goes back to the fact that liberals were claiming that jerry falwell was just as bad as wright. So they said either mccain should be attacked like obama or it should be a none issue, else its double standards. I said its not double standards because obama went to the church for 20 years while mccain only got an endorsement. Any insidious underhanded implications that you read into the fact that obama went to the man's church for 20 years is in your own mind.
Oh my goodness, you really are dumb as dirt. I can't believe you're still arguing what the discussion is about. Ok, let me copy myself since your stupid mind keeps running circles.
'You insinuated that Obama was accepting Wright's views. That's a sleazy, underhanded attack. You said it's not "morally equivalent to equate" McCain's endorsement to Wright's relationship with Obama. Again sleazy and underhand (and horrific grammar).'
So no, I'm not reading anything into it, you wrote those things.
You said that Obama going to this church for 20 years is morally reprehensible, and you still haven't made the case why that is the case. You keep ignoring the arguments and insisting that the discussion was about something else, because it doesn't suit you. You cannot judge their relationship and I've explained it extensively now. You should go back to debating class or something, cause this is really a waste of time by now. You keep evading the issue.
vertigate I didn't say reprehensible anywhere and you make your lame grammar complaint again, even though I am sure I have a higher degree than you academically. I am not going to defend a view that's not my own. Never said reprehensible. All I said was going to a radical church and having a radical pastor is WORSE than receiving an endorsement from a radical pastor.
My point was to leave mccain out of this, this is obama's fuck up, his own scandal, you want to defend that, go ahead, but the jerry falwell argument holds no water.
Obama didn't fuck up. That's the point you're evading with your Falwell distraction. Your attack holds no water. The whole Wright issue was a smear campaign initiated by the HRC campaign and FOX News. Stuff like this happens, there is nothing you can do about it. Had Obama dissociated from Wright earlier, they would have just used more Muslim attacks on him. The Wright issue holds no water and has no relevance to the campaign. Main stream media has already caught on to that fact.
All you're saying is it's worse, but you can't defend your claim. I quoted words which were in horrific grammar
conservative said: "whether its morally equivalent to equate mccains endorsement from a controversial pastor with obama's choice of church for 20 years. The answer is no"
I didn't use quotes for "reprehensible" so I never said you used that specific word. Your quibbling is beyond belief.
You're saying it's morally reprehensible, morally inferior, morally bad. Whatever paraphrasing you wanna use for that grammatically ridiculous sentence of yours. You cannot argue why that is supposedly the case. That's why you're splitting hair over what exact words you used. I have already addressed your morally equivalent quote several times before. Just kindly look it up above, spindoctor.
conservative said: "When you seek council, or go to their church to listen to sermons, you are accepting some of their views."
You said that in the context of Obama's relationship to his pastor and his controversial statements, clearly insinuating that Obama accepted the radical views of his pastor.
Your smear campaign is obvious and your cowardice when it comes to standing by your statements and taking responsibility for them is pathetic. To say you never attacked Obama is clearly contradicted by pretty much everything else you said on here.
Let's play that game your way, mr weasel. If you DON'T say there is a moral problem with what Obama did, and you DON'T say that Obama accepted Wright's views (as debunked many times), then what is your problem with the issue? What is your counterattack based on that you allegedly used against the Falwell argument? You have already conceded before that you used an attack, so what is the beef here? Don't be so friggin ridiculous. What exactly is the issue?
Just get over your negativity and accept the fact, that you can't judge by just a few selected soundbites the personal relationship between the two men which started when Obama worked as a community organizer together with the churches.
vertigate I can't even read your comments anymore. They are so long winded. I am on the fucken internet and you're a stranger, if I wanted to say his pastor was racist therefore obama is racist, I would have said it. You fucken dumb shit, go argue with yourself. The morally equivalent only meant that one situation is worse than the other. I also see that your paranoid since you blame HRC, no conspiracy theorist please.the clips were out there for a long time, she could have used it a lot earlier

WadeBlazingame34 Checked out realclearpolitics, mccain is leading obama by an average of 1.5%, he wins almost every poll against obama. Hell Clinton is closer to beating mccain than obama. Also at politico, they asked how many clinton supporters are going to vote for obama, only 60% because they are sick of obamaniacs. Well maybe they are sick of obama but I find his supporters far worse and a huge turn off.
c-777: Those polls are worthless this far out. Obama & McCain weren't even registering on any polls in Oct/Nov. [You're hilarious though - Oh no, not "an average of 1.5%" seven months before a national election!! Hahaha!!]
You know what IS important in Nov?

Kind of a big difference, huh? Might have an impact, right? Maybe a little more important than realclearpolitics's polls, doncha think?

WadeBlazingame34 if we were going by money, mitt romney would be president :P. also if obama decides to abide by the ethic laws he and mccain supported, than the money advantage will be mute. Lots of bitterness between clinton supporters and obamaniacs, you cannot deny that. You got a point about the polls being too early, but it does show that the dems have some work to do. I think your party is going to break into 2, embrace operation chaos.
Mitt was personally worth about $333 million. A lot, for sure, but he is no billionaire with real cash to burn. In fact, his family was upset that he spent so much (about $40-50 million I think...).
FACT - Ron Paul raised more money in Q4-07 than Romney and McCain combined.
RE: Campaign Finance Laws... I think it only applies to the last 60 or 90 days of the campaign. Barack can spend as much as he wants between now and then, and still accept the ethics reforms.
RE: "Operation Chaos"... Good one, but we're Democrats. We're used to chaos. :)
What we're really witnessing is "Operation Hillary Take Down". She's crazy, and she needs to be subdued asap. You make a good point. We can't afford to have them sniping at each other for 3 more months. She's hurting the party, but not killing it.
DAVID BROOKS in the NYTimes today has a great OP/ED about Hillary.
WadeBlazingame34 that's the thing. How do you think hillary feel when obamaniacs blame hillary for the chaos. Trust me, I've been following the election closely and both candidates have played there role in fueling operation chaos. Now I admit when hillary loses, she will probably support obama and that might raise the 60% transfer higher, but there could also be a blow out at the convention and your party in shambles like in 1968. we can only hope.
Hillbots and Obamaniacs will get over it if their candidate loses. We'll fall in line. Bush has been so monstrously bad for everything that we stand for, it won't take much to heal the divide and campaign together.
I will definitely campaign for HRC if she wins.
But seriously, Obama speaks the truth. Really listen to what he has to say sometime. There's still time for you to switch to being an Obam-ican conservative777!!
WadeBlazingame34 I did listen to what he had to say. I actually went through his voting record at votesmart(dot)org and contrasted it to hillary. Obama is the #1 liberal in the senate, that means he has the most partisan voting record, hillary is #16. there is 98 senators btw, so I am not sure how the most partisan person in the senate will unite the country. Liberalism (not to be confused with libertarian) is actually code for secular progressive, the movement has a bad history.
You definitely do your research, which is great. It sounds strange, but I don't really think Senate voting records really mean much when judging exec. leadership abilities. The Senate is complex & it usually hinders leadership the longer you're there.
I think Barack just wants to provide honest leadership for difficult problems - Iraq, Economy, Security, Environment, Energy. No covert agenda/political movement (we're too disorganized) beyond solutions for these big hurdles confronting us.
WadeBlazingame34 well there is one piece of evidence that backs up your theory. He voted present for a lot of votes and NV (basically non-available). So perhaps his average is skewed by not voting on a lot of bills. however His church, black liberation theology, preaches socialism and a progressive agenda so I'm not so sure if one can just dismiss his voting record.
I think a better way to judge his policies is to go by his blueprint for change, downloadable on his website barackobama . com or by the many videos on his YT channel where he explains his plans. These labels of socialism and progressive agenda won't do his policies much justice. He does have a very detailed program and a lot of it makes sense.
And I agree with WadeBlazin, that it's a personality issue as well. Obama does have the ability to inspire people and go to the core of the issues beyond stereotypes and labels and divides. The latest example for the latter is his speech on a "Better Union" I think. That' a leadership quality that's needed right now. Also in foreign relations, his experience of having lived abroad and understanding very different cultures comes in as an asset.
There is also an interesting article on thenation, that documents Obama's experiences as a community organizer and how it shaped his leadership experience through dialog and uniting. It's an interesting read.
vertigate fuck, how come you can't make a single post. the less words the better.
To judge obama by his speeches or how he inspires is to judge the work of Jon Favreau his head speech writer. To judge him by future promises on his website is to judge him on things he has not done. So I looked at his voting record. Btw, you mentioned personality, but doesn't the fact that he chose that church say something about judgment ?
So when someone goes to church, and as the interviewer points out, you disagree with the priest, about say abortion, condom use or homosexuals, which Democrats surely do disagree with the offical stance of the Catholic church, does that mean you must necessarily being influenced by them? Well presumably not for this Irish, probably Catholic, Democrat. And did he stand up in the pews and denounce his priest and the pope for supporting anti-gay, anti-condom, anti-choice statements? Of course not.
The comparison to White supremest is not a valid one. White supremest have an irrational hate of Jews and blacks, which have done nothing to them and have attacked and killed them. Blacks even very militant ones have not by-in-large acted out there rhetoric. To equate the two is simply wrong.
The words are harsh, but they do not come from thin air. Clinton and Hannity types think so little of the American People that they believe people will not be able to see the nuance. I hope they're wrong.
Did we bomb Nagasaki and Hiroshima? You bet! We put the empire that brought us the Rape of Nanking, Pearl Harbor and The Bataan Death March out of business, and we did without losing a million ground troops in a land invasion.
Little different from 19 terrorists flying jets into skyscrapers full of civilians, yes?
"No difference, it's all the same." I'm so SICK of this equivocating bullshit with no context whatsoever!
Hahaha, I see some comments where people are saying the Clintons are sick for what this guy is saying but pastor wright is just guilt by association. You guys are altering your logic just to justify obama no matter what. I bet he could throw an old grandma under the bus and still you obamaniacs will explain it away, oh wait minute he did throw a grandma under the bus, his own :P.
Obama made it clear how he feels on the subject. Move on. I'm white. I understand the situation. Obama is the only one that can pull us out of the problems that we are in. This includes "race" issues. I have never seen a polititian be so straight forward about the subject ever. It's time to heal this country.
Obama did not make it clear how he feels on the subject. One speech does not compensate for 20 years. One speech does not define a character. ACTIONS define character-and while Hillary succeeds in MOVING this country to a better place, Barack apparently plans to spend 4 years yelling from a pew, just like his ignorant backwards, racist piece of shit demagogue, who baptized his children and married him to his wife.

Discrimination was not that long ago. It has and still affect the black community. Clintons. Give Obama a break. He is not his pastor. You are destroying the democratic party. Democrats lost the white house because of Bill and Monica and now you are crucifying Obama. Satisfied.
People like to forget the FACT that racism was LEGAL in THIS country! Wake up to history and stop sweeping the hardcore issues under the rug. Racism was as legal as taxes! If we continue to forget where we've been we are destine to end up remembering by experience.
this o'dude needs to be fully called out. he's got a clear agenda and it's totally biased. obama uses race when it suits him? what the hell does that mean? he's only black when he wants to be? HE brought up the race issue in this campaign initially? wright was bringing up legitimate issues which must be heard - not always delicately, but they must be heard. falwell, buchanan, hager - these are all preachers to the current swarm of varmin in office and they say alot of very damming statements.
Umm... is he aware that Bill Clinton sought Mr. Wrights spiritual guidance after the scandal and that he visited the White House several times during the Clinton administration.. Do these people research before interviewing?

Just think, we have thousands sitting in adoration at RFK stadium listening to the Pope Benny Hill, the head of a church which has actively nourished and protected sexual prdators. Pedo-phelia is in the culture of the RC Church - has been for hundreds of years. This Jerimiah Wright incident pales in comparison.

I would invite you to become a United States senator. Long before you achieved that goal, presuming you have the education, you would be financially enslaved to one of the two dominant political machines, Democrat or Republican. You would be their "little pulpit!"

Stop beating the drum hoping that you can beat it loud enough to drown out your own hypocrisy.

sfranks105 about judging obama by umm guilt by association was not really the point. Though it of course does say something about judgment that he chose this pastor but that's irrelevant to our discussion. The discussion was whether its morally equivalent to equate mccains endorsement from a controversial pastor with obama's choice of church for 20 years. The answer is no, most Americans see the difference, including liberals, but they ignore facts that don't suit their political views.
conservative777 3 years ago
well, conservative, if you're not judging Obama by guilt of association, what's this talk about moral equivalence? Pretty underhanded and sleazy on your part. I call THAT immoral. Obama has denounced the statements in question, he has consistently spoken out against racism, take for example the MLK day address he gave. Wright's statements do not represent Obama's views. He said that there is more to Wright than those soundbites and that he sought Wright's spiritual not political advice.
vertigate 3 years ago 2

That usually puts it in the correct order. sfranks105 tried to establish double standards because they were not jumping on mccain, so my comments were to defend mccain, not to insult obama. but you just spout ad homenium attacks about nothing, shut up obamaniac.
conservative777 3 years ago
No reading deficiency at all. Your logic is faulty and biased and your schtick is sleazy. I asked a simple question: What's the moral equivalence you are talking about? You said Obama's choice was not morally equivalent to the McCain endorsement. Obviously you're implying his choice was morally inferior. Yet at the same time you said that Obama's judgement was irrelevant and it wasn't a question of guilt by association. So what the heck are you talking about? And quit the ridicuous name calling.

vertigate your an idiot. go away.
getting an endorsement from a pastor is different from going to the church of a pastor. I don't know how to make it clearer for you. you have more than a reading deficiency.
conservative777 3 years ago
My point was, that you tried to make it out as if you weren't attacking Obama while you were doing just that. So now that you have conceded that, remains the question what moral equivalent you are talking about. I agree that the two things are different, but as I pointed out you cannot judge Obama's relationship with his pastor based on a few soundbites taken out of 20 years of sermon. As I said their relationship began when Obama worked as a community organizer together with the churches.
vertigate 3 years ago 2
There is no guilt by association, because Obama has denounced Wright's statements in question and consistently put out a different message. He has in fact been very critical of racial tensions even in the black community. However it's not his place to censor Wright nor is his choice of church based on just that. He sought spiritual advice not political advice, and had a close personal relationship with that pastor, which was based on more than those soundbites.
vertigate 3 years ago 2
You can't judge their relationship, that's just a fact. And the only reason people like yourself are blowing this out of proportion is for political reasons. It has no relevance. I didn't jump on McCain because religious people madness bores me and because I don't mind McCain. But you are attacking Obama for political reasons, no more, no less.

vertigate I maintain that you're an idiot. Lets leave it at that. I was replying, not initiating the conversation with sfranks105. he cried double standards. How you inferred from that comment that I am attack obama for political gain and making the Jeremiah story into an issue because it suits me shows that you have trouble with logic.
conservative777 3 years ago
You insinuated that Obama was accepting Wright's views. That's a sleazy, underhanded attack. You said it's not "morally equivalent to equate" McCain's endorsement to Wright's relationship with Obama. Again sleazy and underhand (and horrific grammar). The fact is, you cannot judge their relationship based on a few soundbites and you know it, and the only reason you're exploiting this whole situation is to besmirch Obama for political reasons. Even McCain has defended Obama on that issue.

When you seek council, or go to their church to listen to sermons, you are accepting some of their views.
conservative777 3 years ago
conservative, didn't you say further up, that there is no guilt by association? First of all, as I have already pointed out, you go to a church for spiritual guidance and maybe to be grounded in the community. You do NOT seek political advice in a church. As for the statements in question Obama has denounced them and his political message was consistently a different one. So your underhanded insinuation about "accepting some of their views" is deliberately misleading.
vertigate 3 years ago 2

Does the caps help with comprehension ??? the obama pastor thing is more of an issue than the mccain Jerry Falwell, in fact the beginning of the conversation was an attack on mccain, or trying to make a wash of obama's pastor issue. please read all comments, stop assuming, stop inferring.
conservative777 3 years ago
Correction, sfranks said something about double standards. YOU REPLIED BY ATTACKING OBAMA, and claiming it was a lot worse what he did and making your sleazy underhanded attacks while claiming you weren't attacking him. You're a hypocrite. You have already conceded that point in an earlier post, so I don't see any need to continue this argument. You are obviously not equipped for a reasonable discussion, and it's obvious you have nothing to say. It's all there for everyone to read. Case closed.

Even McCain has defended Obama on that issue.

vertigate to attack grammar on youtube discussion posts is really lame. how someone writes an essay for university and how someone writes on MSN/youtube/forums is completely different. sigh, and yes i did say it was a lot worse, that's how i am proving there is no double standard. i am saying obama situation is worse than mccain, which is why the media is covering obama and his pastor, not mccain. Obviously the journalists and pundits agree with me.
conservative777 3 years ago
conservative777, I am sorry, pundits by their very definition exploit soundbites for political propaganda.

Liberals can't see liberal biasness.
conservative777 3 years ago
Ok, now you're just getting desperate. Bringing up Romney and the NYT is just ludicrous. It has nothing to do with this and the reporting is not comparable at all. I never looked into the McCain scandal, but the Wright videos were uploaded at least 20 times in the most discussed section on YT and were played in a 24/7 loop on FOX. It was unavoidable, you could not escape it. I repeat myself, the Obama smear was even recognized by FOX reporter Chris Wallace himself.

I said nothing about permanent damage either way. We'll see about that. No one knows that yet, yourself included. The main stream media recognizes that the Wright smear campaign was blown out of proportion. That's very much in agreement with my opinion. And you haven't made a case why it really matters either. conservative777 3 years ago
NOTHING!
vertigate 3 years ago 2
It's not up to Obama to censor the pastor, and Wright's statements are no worse than what other pastors say. Let's see if you'll finally get it. The media have already caught on to it. Oh and one more thing:
conservative said: "i don't have to make a case why it matters"
Quit trying to hide your attacks as a defense and in the process absolving yourself of the responsibility to make a case for your attacks. It's ridiculous. You made no case, you proved nothing. End of story.

The topic was about double standards, I did not initiate an attack on obama but if you really want to put words in my mouth and than debate it, that's fine. Also your argument about 30 sec sound clip is just bullshit, I know what james cone and Dwight Hopkins views are, the founder of black liberation theology, it's a radical church.
conservative777 3 years ago
I say it once again. I called you out on your underhanded smear attack against Obama that you posted on a public forum. If you wanted to have a private conversation with sfranks you should have used email as your medium of choice. I can read your posts, so I can respond to it. And again, you haven't made a case why Wright matters. This new attempt using Cone and Hopkins is just another insinuated, sleazy attack. Obama is not a radical, his message has consistently spoken out against that.
vertigate 3 years ago
I can point to racist and radical elements in almost any religion. Mormonism claims that black people were punished by God with black skin for not standing up to Satan. The bible contains some of the most horrific quotes against homosexuals. The statements that were already pointed out to you made by Pat Robertson and Falwell are worse than what Wright said. It's nothing but a smear. Obama met Wright as a community organizer and developed a personal and spiritual relationship.
vertigate 3 years ago
Their relationship was not defined by controversial statements. Obama is not a radical, not a racist, he has pushed a very positive agenda in his political career, dealing with ethics reforms and community issues among others. You're pushing a ridiculous smear that has already been abandoned by the main stream media. You're way behind.

Look, this really goes back to the fact that liberals were claiming that jerry falwell was just as bad as wright. So they said either mccain should be attacked like obama or it should be a none issue, else its double standards. I said its not double standards because obama went to the church for 20 years while mccain only got an endorsement. Any insidious underhanded implications that you read into the fact that obama went to the man's church for 20 years is in your own mind.
conservative777 3 years ago
Oh my goodness, you really are dumb as dirt. I can't believe you're still arguing what the discussion is about. Ok, let me copy myself since your stupid mind keeps running circles.
'You insinuated that Obama was accepting Wright's views. That's a sleazy, underhanded attack. You said it's not "morally equivalent to equate" McCain's endorsement to Wright's relationship with Obama. Again sleazy and underhand (and horrific grammar).'
So no, I'm not reading anything into it, you wrote those things.
vertigate 3 years ago 2
You said that Obama going to this church for 20 years is morally reprehensible, and you still haven't made the case why that is the case. You keep ignoring the arguments and insisting that the discussion was about something else, because it doesn't suit you. You cannot judge their relationship and I've explained it extensively now. You should go back to debating class or something, cause this is really a waste of time by now. You keep evading the issue.
vertigate 3 years ago 2
vertigate I didn't say reprehensible anywhere and you make your lame grammar complaint again, even though I am sure I have a higher degree than you academically. I am not going to defend a view that's not my own. Never said reprehensible. All I said was going to a radical church and having a radical pastor is WORSE than receiving an endorsement from a radical pastor.
conservative777 3 years ago
My point was to leave mccain out of this, this is obama's fuck up, his own scandal, you want to defend that, go ahead, but the jerry falwell argument holds no water.
conservative777 3 years ago
Obama didn't fuck up. That's the point you're evading with your Falwell distraction. Your attack holds no water. The whole Wright issue was a smear campaign initiated by the HRC campaign and FOX News. Stuff like this happens, there is nothing you can do about it. Had Obama dissociated from Wright earlier, they would have just used more Muslim attacks on him. The Wright issue holds no water and has no relevance to the campaign. Main stream media has already caught on to that fact.
vertigate 3 years ago
All you're saying is it's worse, but you can't defend your claim. I quoted words which were in horrific grammar
conservative said: "whether its morally equivalent to equate mccains endorsement from a controversial pastor with obama's choice of church for 20 years. The answer is no"
I didn't use quotes for "reprehensible" so I never said you used that specific word. Your quibbling is beyond belief.
vertigate 3 years ago
You're saying it's morally reprehensible, morally inferior, morally bad. Whatever paraphrasing you wanna use for that grammatically ridiculous sentence of yours. Just kindly look it up above, spindoctor.

You even went further to explain the difference.
conservative said: "When you seek council, or go to their church to listen to sermons, you are accepting some of their views."
You said that in the context of Obama's relationship to his pastor and his controversial statements, clearly insinuating that Obama accepted the radical views of his pastor.
vertigate 3 years ago 2
Your smear campaign is obvious and your cowardice when it comes to standing by your statements and taking responsibility for them is pathetic. To say you never attacked Obama is clearly contradicted by pretty much everything else you said on here.
vertigate 3 years ago
Let's play that game your way, mr weasel. If you DON'T say there is a moral problem with what Obama did, and you DON'T say that Obama accepted Wright's views (as debunked many times), then what is your problem with the issue? What is your counterattack based on that you allegedly used against the Falwell argument? You have already conceded before that you used an attack, so what is the beef here? Don't be so friggin ridiculous. What exactly is the issue?

Mitt was personally worth about $333 million. A lot, for sure, but he is no billionaire with real cash to burn. In fact, his family was upset that he spent so much (about $40-50 million I think...).
FACT - Ron Paul raised more money in Q4-07 than Romney and McCain combined.

But seriously, Obama speaks the truth. Really listen to what he has to say sometime. There's still time for you to switch to being an Obam-ican conservative777!!
WadeBlazingame34 3 years ago
WadeBlazingame34 I did listen to what he had to say. I actually went through his voting record at votesmart(dot)org and contrasted it to hillary. Obama is the #1 liberal in the senate, that means he has the most partisan voting record, hillary is #16. there is 98 senators btw, so I am not sure how the most partisan person in the senate will unite the country. Liberalism (not to be confused with libertarian) is actually code for secular progressive, the movement has a bad history.
conservative777 3 years ago
You definitely do your research, which is great. It sounds strange, but I don't really think Senate voting records really mean much when judging exec. leadership abilities. The Senate is complex & it usually hinders leadership the longer you're there.
I think Barack just wants to provide honest leadership for difficult problems - Iraq, Economy, Security, Environment, Energy. No covert agenda/political movement (we're too disorganized) beyond solutions for these big hurdles confronting us.
WadeBlazingame34 3 years ago
WadeBlazingame34 well there is one piece of evidence that backs up your theory. He voted present for a lot of votes and NV (basically non-available). So perhaps his average is skewed by not voting on a lot of bills. however His church, black liberation theology, preaches socialism and a progressive agenda so I'm not so sure if one can just dismiss his voting record.
conservative777 3 years ago
I think a better way to judge his policies is to go by his blueprint for change, downloadable on his website barackobama . com or by the many videos on his YT channel where he explains his plans. These labels of socialism and progressive agenda won't do his policies much justice. He does have a very detailed program and a lot of it makes sense.
vertigate 3 years ago
And I agree with WadeBlazin, that it's a personality issue as well. Obama does have the ability to inspire people and go to the core of the issues beyond stereotypes and labels and divides. The latest example for the latter is his speech on a "Better Union" I think. That' a leadership quality that's needed right now. Also in foreign relations, his experience of having lived abroad and understanding very different cultures comes in as an asset.

There is also an interesting article on thenation, that documents Obama's experiences as a community organizer and how it shaped his leadership experience through dialog and uniting. It's an interesting read.
