And thoughts like "if you sacrifice yourself doesn't mean that they'll be safe for the rest of their lives" will become more stronger. The wife sealed her own fate. She was too concerned over the safety of the boy that she didn't heed her husband warnings that the boy was done for and they couldn't save him. So what she do?! goes to the boy and realises she is stuck and now its "Don help us!" risk your life Don so the zombies can eat you and hopefully your wife who dug herself into this mess because of her stupidity can escape!! get the fuck outta here!!
That scene made whole movie (imho). For the first moment i heard this wonderful music and saw 'zombies' running across the field... well, there was no single thougth in my mind. I just feel as I was the one, who was running from death. That was deep and dark feeling. And that's make the movie so beautiful in its own way. And I wouldn´t have absolutely no regrets about it (although I would most likely be sad about it, since she is my wife and I love her very much). I just did what I had to do tu survive. Besides, he has two children to take care of, it was considerate of him not to leave them orphaned (at first, at least...).

I think the reason he seems cowardly is because often in those sorts of situations you see loved ones say "I'm going to die, so go on without me" and that sort of thing, but alice never said that to don. Don tried to get her to go with them but she refused. I honestly don't think you would play the hero in an apocalyptic situation. People change in desperate situations. Decisions based on emotion, rather than logic will get you killed.

I think the reason he seems cowardly is because often in those sorts of situations you see loved ones say "I'm going to die, so go on without me" and that sort of thing, but alice never said that to don. She wanted him to help her and he didn't. It'd be completely different if she had yelled for don to escape while he still could, she loves him etc but she didn't.

Don tried to get her to go with them but she refused. I honestly don't think you would play the hero in an apocalyptic situation. People change in desperate situations. Decisions based on emotion, rather than logic will get you killed.
