Pastor Manning, I think GLBT people are in the closet for a variety of reasons. We sometimes are afraid of losing our jobs, we fear alienating friends or family who won't accept us as we are, or we are concerned for our safety. We sometimes are out to some people while in the closet to others. Some of us carry the shame that church, family, and society have tried hard to instill in us. It can be a difficult and painful place for us, there is still so much discrimination and bigoty around us.

Wait, I don't understand this. In a lot of states, households and cultures it is not okay to be gay. There are ton of reasons - some personal - not come out of the closet, but there many are based on how someone's sexuality would be received by the public. Many homosexuals accept and identify with their orientation, but stay in the closet to some people because of the social stigma.
A person can believe that homosexuality is wrong, but to say that gays do too is taking it a step far.
The question of why someone would not be okay with coming out of the closet is brought up in the video, but the answer is in the video itself. Some people are not accepting of homosexuals, they view it as wrong and in some very intense situations can even terrorize someone because of it. This is why their are people in the closet, because it is just not okay to be otherwise.
We are living in a world were it is not socially acceptable to be racist or sexist, why is it okay to be homophobic?

Pastor Manning, I think GLBT people are in the closet for a variety of reasons. We sometimes are afraid of losing our jobs, we fear alienating friends or family who won't accept us as we are, or we are concerned for our safety. We sometimes are out to some people while in the closet to others. Some of us carry the shame that church, family, and society have tried hard to instill in us. It can be a difficult and painful place for us, there is still so much discrimination and bigoty around us.

Wait, I don't understand this. In a lot of states, households and cultures it is not okay to be gay. There are ton of reasons - some personal - not come out of the closet, but there many are based on how someone's sexuality would be received by the public. Many homosexuals accept and identify with their orientation, but stay in the closet to some people because of the social stigma.
A person can believe that homosexuality is wrong, but to say that gays do too is taking it a step far.

Some people are not accepting of homosexuals, they view it as wrong and in some very intense situations can even terrorize someone because of it. It is simply a question or belief. If a person says they are not gay, respect their opinion, it does not concern you.
