Nice car, but I would be more impressed if you can do a burnout the Man's way, NO POWER BRAKING. Put it in gear, let off the brake and stomp it. If it lights em light , that's a real burnout. Type in "Buick Rivera Burnout", there you will see a stock 70 Riviera light em up WITHOUT powerbraking. Any car/truck even a Yugo can powerbrake to do a burn out. But you do have a nice ride.
Friend had a 71 coupe,350 auto,...I.loved it ....the he swapped the 350 for a 454 tunnel ram 2 -4s....513 rear gears,sidepipe headers,what a waste!....it got re-poed!
My 72 rides like it was designed to. It wasn't built for comfort, but it was built for speed. Yes,so what if you hit a bump and you feel it? It adds to the excitement of driving experience! C5's are great! If you want comfort, get the c5,if you want to drive a legend, get a c3.
@TheAerialbomb thats because after 1971 they had the Emmission crisis. that car was probably making less than 200hp. all cars were from 1972 to like mid 80's, im 15 going on 16 and even i know this.
@ModMob I know that, junior, I was stating a fact. It was due to the low compression engine, not the emission system.
However, I also had a 1965 B production small block, completly Trans-am legal. Now that car could fly. Sold it to an oil guy in Texas.... I miss that car.
@TheAerialbomb i know that they werent fast because of the low compression i was just saying they had low compression cuz the government was worried about emissions. and yeah my dad had a 1969 Mercury Cyclone with a 429 Cobra Jet, that car was mean..
@ModMob It's bullshit, eh? Fuckin' big three. There was a fuel crisis and emissions awareness, so rather than working on making engines more efficient, they just smothered 'em. V8s in the '80s with like 90hp. Even into the '90s, with the Chevy 1500 SS; a 454 with 230 hp? I know they were relatively high torque, but come on. They should have gone back to the drawing board back then and worked out how to get more for less, instead of just sweeping it under the rug for 40 years.
@rainfice0629 I wasn't "telling" you, as if to suggest I know something you don't. I was simply agreeing with you. What you were saying about cars from '72 to mid '80s struck a chord, and thought I'd join in. I've always thought it was a cop-out on the part of the industry in question, and saw an opportunity to join in a conversation. Sorry if I ruined your day by being on the same page and taking your side in an internet argument. You're on your own, champ.
@ekpd181 u know there is a system u can no problem put on ur car, a little button u press to disable backside brakes, which means it wont grind against it... makes it way smoother 2 ;>.... only problem is , its illegal , but my dad had it on his Stingray, and its really hard to spot since all it does a little magnetic shiz moves a little pipe back and forth :P
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
But I don't understand! If you use the brake to stop the car while you are doing burnout, it brakes all wheel. But the engine propels the rear wheels. How does the engine "win" the brake? :)
I've always wondered- what makes it squeal like that? How do you do that? because almost all of the newer cars don't squeal, they just make that "shook-shook-shook" sound....anyone know what I'm talking about?
if your tiers squeel it means they dont spin fast enough witch means you dont got enough horsepower, a real car will do a big smoky burnout with makin any noise but the engine rawring and sometimes the sound of your rear end blowin ha
@BulldogManiaOfficial haha no I know I can make it squeal, you just gotta do it on the right type of pavement and the right throttle position....more the throttle position then anything.
@corvettels9 I have never done a brake stand in my car... It's Front Wheel Drive.. I could put on the parking brake and hammer the gas... But I don't have the money to drop a new transmission in at the moment... If I hammer the gas, it will squeel nicely.
@elsonbaran true. I can't smoke 'em in my truck (full-time AWD with locking diff's for 4WD) but I can light 'em up in my mom's hemi 300, and that car is heavy!
@corvettels9 hahaha nice but hemis these days arent real hemis like back in the day sure thet have a lil bit more power but hemi is short for hemispherecal wich basicly meant that the top of pistons were round the benefit of that is u get better explosions which = to more power
Fuck thats a sweet car!

I had a 72 big block convertible with auto and air.... it was a pig.
Nothing but boat anchors under the hood in 1972.
My Cadillac of today was faster.
Plus you could never get to the rear spark plug.

as far as my description of the sound....it's like the sound that the "modern muscle cars" make. like the 300C's, chargers, challengers, camaros, etc.

@corvettels9 its working with sensors wich detect the tire rotation rate and turn down the engine power if the tires slip.
