Geology is very interesting field. Thanks for your very great comments here. I have known more great knowledge. Lava flow is my most favorite for this magnificent video. The marvelous compilation of imagery and music is so impressive as always. Perfect work,Thomas.Unfortunately I did not know what you said in German;-). Keep on great work Thomas..
ist das nicht super heiß wenn man so nah an einem Lava-strom ist? Hattet ihr irgendwelche schutz-kleidung an? Ich würde mich nie so nah da ran trauen ihr seid total verückt und cool^^! 5/5
I would recommend to go not too close to the lava to stay save. However, in the case of this video I was quite close about 2 - 4 m. You should always be aware of unstable ground, changing eruption behavior, unexpected outbreaks and change of lava flow directions. Stay save on any volcano!
Another problem of course is the heat which might damage the camera and which is hard to resist when you are so close.
Depending on the lava flow and what you would like to do but in general I would say 10 meter is close enough for good shots and more or less save. Don't underestimate the heat radiation of a large lava flow!
As we've being studying envoromental issues at school we've done reseach. The lava flow was speeding down the hills at 135/h. It also ended, only 4 kilometers from the vilage Etna
Awesome ! thanks for the video. I thought you might like to check out a music video we put together, a song i wrote inspired by the power of the Hawaiian Goddess Pele, and her awesome power to both create and destroy...(with lava footage!) thanks !
Hi, Igneous rock is formed by the cooling of magma. All igneous rocks began as magma (molten rock) which cooled and crystallized into minerals. Geologists classify igneous rocks based on both their crystal size and composition.
Igneous rocks may look different because they may have cooled at different rates and the magma was of different composition. Variations in these two factors have created many different types of igneous rocks.
Ok, I'll ask...who does the music? was it written specifically for this video, or did you cut the video to some existing music? very progressive (in a kind of heavy neo vein). Nice
Most of us editors (I didn't do this one) edit to music that has already been created. It's easier to edit that way than it is to create music to match edited video.
What I wouldn't give to shoot something like that. That would be amazing. I've never been very close to a volcano eruption. What does it smell like? Does the lava give off heat in the air? I imagine it would.
In some cases it smells like sulfur from nearby fumaroles (rotten eggs - so not so nice but I "like" this smell because it reminds me of great experience I had at volcanoes ;-)!) but usually there is no smell. In contrast the heat radiated from the lava in the air is amazing still several meters away - almost not to bear!
wow that stuff loooks awsome
