    I love SJU

Cant wait to go there next year!

  • Wow, that is an gigantic tree! Merry Christmas to you all!

  • LOL, oh man, that's awesome! I miss it up there! Wonder how they get that huge tree into the Fireside at Gorecki...probably in a similar manner, without the extra running space.

  • Is it tradition to do it that way? Why didn't they just wrap it with twine first?

  • @fastaire3 The tree is way too big for twine, the branches are huge. The monks have tried but couldn't get enough tension to where it would benefit much.

  • Another interesting fact: the ornaments hang from the ceiling, not the tree! I helped hang them at work during my freshman year

  • I was stunned by the tree when I saw it standing. After seeing the "birth" process, I am completely wowed!

  • Great video--the feats of strength required for this task are incredible! Haha, way to go, y'all...

I miss St. John's in the winter!

  • It warms my heart to see the Church maintaining the old pagan customs like this. Thank you.

  • @starcatjewel I almost wet myself after reading this comment....still laughing.

  • Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Be safe, be well. May all of you have peace, joy, and lots of happiness. At our North Dakota State Capitol we get our State Christmas Tree into our Great Hall the same way you do. Your Christmas Tree is so very beautiful.

Peace. and good will to all of our American Vets. and all of the Armed Forces that is overseas that is all fighting for our freedom and all of our way of life here in our United States of America.

  • Just great!!!! That put the biggest smile on my face! :) BRAVO

(I wish you had shown it being raised though hehehe

What a beautiful church! I had to stop the video when I saw Jesus! beautiful, just beautiful, that me is what the inside of a church should look like =) Thanks for making this!

  • Singlehandedly I brought our 8'wide 10.5' tall tree through a 40" door....but wrapped it in a tarp closed with bungee cords....easy! One person came 'to the rescue' but I was already through the worst part. This is the cleanest and easiest way to do it.

  • This was the biggest tree I have ever seen inside a bldg. I was in awe!

  • lol did the door break?

  • Dorks. Good job.

  • Enjoyed watching this. -Andy

  • why didnt they just bag it or tie it up?

surely it would save all the effort in squeezing it through a door

  • ROFL!!! That was the best!! XD

  • Wow folks....

  • Is that Fr. Don at 1:05 outside?

  • Wait...why don't you show how you raise it? Argghhh!

  • cus maybe it took a lot of time

  • Feels like this video's about twice as long as it should be. But otherwise, very cool to see!

  • How do you get it back out?

  • excellent job on getting the tree into the Great Hall!! Thanks for posting...brings back great memories of being there.

  • great job and thanks for sharing this!

  • Beautiful tree, excellent job getting it inside and set up.

  • Guess I shouldn't complain about putting up my fake tree annually after watching this. That was fun.

    Mike McDonald

  • I always thought they did it with that famous St. John's Monastery Magic.
