This is a very interesting video and when I get a chance I wioll check out "Brats."
However, I think that the culture in which these corporate, foreign service, and military children circulate is still distinctly a global imperial one.
First of all, the vast majority of these kids are insulated from the indiginous culture in international schools or at their residence.
I would argue that the brats' culture "American pop culture" is transmitted to the elites with whom they associate.
@culturalmut It's actually not true that American pop culture is transmitted to the kids any more than it's globally available to everyone through media. Military brats who live on base MAY be more insulated, but the reality is that expat kids (FROM any country IN any country) who have lived overseas for more than a brief time, are NOT like their peers in their home country. They share a distinctly different culture amongst themselves &, to some degree, with all cross-cultural people.
I prefer too to be known as a missionary kid, not brat. And its true, at 32 years old I have realized that my roots are in people, not places. Staying somewhere drains me, starves my inspiration.
i've never heard of a label for this situation that so many kids find themselves in. It's neat to see that there has actually been research and stuff done on this....
i'm not a brat.. my parents just happened to move to different countries. and i think we'll only truly belong among other tck's

@HeidiNIndi simply on account of their exposure to experiences unavailable to American kids in the West?
