Richard Bandler is great. It is clear to see that he is using very simple psychological strategies to make the person sees things differently. Therefore, its a result!!
I think the problem here is that most hypnotist dont spend the time to do all this with their clients and most people havnt got the money to book a hypnotist to spend all that time with them. To tell people that they only need one session is mostly the wrong info and only applies to some treatments. Having said that Bandler of course rocks, 10 stars
And that's the beauty of the 'Mind' we will never really know. With time new ideas will arrive, technology will develop to measure what is happening in the brain. Yet in the end we will never know at the lowest level of the 'mind' or the subconscious what is really going on. All that we can do is work on the end result. How we get there is not important providing it is ethical. Its the result we get that is important and in the end that's how we evolve as humans.
im not so impressed with his techniques in this case, anybody can be convinced to board a plane during a panic attack.isnt the objective to understand the fight or flight response an then come to an agreement with it using visualisation.thats what i did an it worked for me
That would be a movie she makes in her mind, if you read the book frogs to princes you'll leanr a lot about running movies. It's used with the dissociation technique, ie imagine you're watching a movie of yourself being phobic, and then change it to black and white, it doesn't seem so scary, when we think in pictures and the colours are really vivid then the feeling is much stronger. Now play your movie in reverse really quickly with some fun music and the feeling vanishes, get a new feeling,
Geez, have you naysayers learned nothing?! Your MIND can do whatever it chooses, the hypnotist helps it along. When you MIND it MATTERS. I bet if you chose to convince yourselves you could "see" the winning lottery numbers while under hypnosis you'd RUN to a hypnotist. The power is in Desire and Belief or Inner Knowing. Open your minds or you'll always be unhappy and skeptical of anything new.
Sure he's a bit "out there" but all geniuses are! so you had one failed experience, glad your parents didn't quit teaching you how to walk after you first fell on your butt!
I've been using some of his techniques and others for years and to date my success is 98% so don't please knock what you don't understand!maybe you resisted being helped (other2% of mine)my opinion psychotherapy is nearer to quackery,6mnths to cure a phobia,PAH!
I was indeed "treated" by a "master practitioner" or whatever they call themselves and it did absolutely nothing. This was after I had read several books and really believed this stuff was practical. Its only my opinion that NLP is quackery. Placebo often works too.. Many believe that "faith healing" is real, just try to convince them otherwise. If the pioneer would use his own theories, he wouldnt have so many personal problems, is that ridiculous?
that is "inductive reasoning" you met one "master practitioner" and he/she couldn't do it! That only tells about that specific practitioner's learning and skills, not the capacity of NLP or NHR transformation in people. Maybe you could see another person.
Does anyone know who this guy is?? or what NLP is?? Its QUACKERY in the highest degree. He claims he can fix almost anything, teach anything and "read" people. All in just a few minutes. I used to read a lot about it, and him. He is an egomaniac nut who claims to cure phobias, drug addiction, relationship problems etc. Do you know that HE is a (former?) drug addict who cant seem to get along with anyone he has ever met? He was accused of murder, but got off. QUACK!!!!!
first of all he was acquitted of all charges second, just because someone has or does drugs you know for an unequivocal certainty he cant do the things he does? third if youve read about does that mean you've been trained, have you actually gone to one of his seminar's so you could personally see that what he does really doesn't work????? you know i read about open heart surgery and about a dr who does it but i dont think that qualifies me to comment on weather some can or can't do heart surgery
I like the fact that Bandler showed her how to handle the changes gradually. Those who've seen him work know what he can do in a matter of moments, even in pretty complex cases, but he gave this woman the power to make her own changes at exactly her own pace. I love this guy.
I think in some cases you have to do it slow, with 20 years of a phobia she has years of emotional anchors. Even if he did cure her phobia, it's too general, because she'd just go into a movie theater and then unless she erased every single memory, or made the picture smaller, she'd regress and have problems again.
Notice how he gets her laughing every time she starts to get tension built up. "you're locked in, we all are... but that's good... otherwise we'd all be flying out of the plane."
I don't think that is factual!! you see, the brain learns to connect every experience to a context, however, the general anchoring process has one innate reason - protecting her- so if i override the old protecting programming with a new one, all of the old stuff will hove no ground to stand on, and will become no longer necessary. Exactly the same thing when you fear spiders in different places, the anchor becomes the place, but if you resolve your fear of spiders then that would suffice (:
Is anyone else slightly unimpressed with the changes made here? I say this only from my own experience of using NLP techniques on myself, that of being able to neutralise very negative and pervasive emotions within minutes. This may sound extremely arrogant but I reckon I could have completely removed all of her fear within the time frame of the show, using the techniques I've learned. And I'm saying this rather perplexed, given my huge respect for Bandler.
In addition to that Bandler is about choices. If he totally negates that feeling he is removing that choice. There are context where that anxiety or panic attack might be useful. For instance if confronted by an armed attacker. By negating that choice she would only have a fight choice, instead of say the choice to leave or flee.
I did notice she reverted to the negative anchor on her own. The kinesthetic of the feelings in the pit of her stomach and moving up and intensifying.
or perhaps it's actually much simpler than that - he needs to fill a show. there must be drama! it's tv. if change was easy and effortless, it wouldn't make good tv - unless of course its us NLPers watching seminars with tons of massive changework packed in. this is for the mainstream - i bet he intentionally stretches it. either that or she's just a resistant client, but i lean towards the former.
no clients are resistant. I thought she changed incredibly considering .. She was able to DO something she wouldn't even consider before. Which no one had managed to do before! In other words he solved the hardest possible case. I love the part where he builds up the negative of having to put up with the problem to a level of ludacris, its so f---ing powerful its unbelievable !!
I agree, this is not for people with NLP training. Its for the Mainstream tv, hav to make appealing to the wider audience and therefore should have elements of drama and story telling.
yeah go Bandler - genius all the way

A great bonus of NLP is in how a technique can generalize into other contexts.
And forget about long-term treatment. Our brains learn best... fast.
