I was called hyperactive back in the 1970s when that was a hot word in the kids therapy world. I've learned to meditate in the past 5 years or so, I wish like hell that someone had taught me about it when I was a kid instead of giving me Ritalin which made me feel like I was on a heavy dose of benadryl.
i have ADHS, it`s diagnosed in March 2011. It`s hard for other peoples, to follow me, when i talk with them. I talk without breaks and i talk a lot of stuff. I remember, that i got Methylphenidat, but this doesn`t work so good. I get this, but the doctor says after a while i must get 50 mg of methylphenidat. That was really hard. I don`t say anything and i was like a robot. I only was only in a function for other peoples, i never feel good with this. So i will make a therapy. It`s the best way!
It frustrates the hell outa me. I misplace things on a daily basis, my mom and gf just think it I''m being careless and irresponsible. I ramble a lot as I often try to gather my thoughts, and I can tell my gf feels like I just talk too much.
I don't get it I'm ADHd and I can't stay that still period, i'm moving weather I realise it or not. Those ADHD kids are really quiet, I would be talking and moving and doing something while those people were talking to me. i'm 13 and all of these kids are younger than me and they can do this. Actually while I was writing this I got distracted for about an hour, and then I remembered what I was doing.
I was dignosed with adhd in grade 1 i take pills i am very dissorganised i fail some classes i get really angry whenever im angry i lose friends i have such bad low self esteme i hate it so much it actually sucks now im in grade 7 its so hard to constentrate in school
@justusgirls1000 this must be so VERY frustrating for you to contend with....I hope you can get the help and understanding you deserve. Please realize it is not your fault. I hope you have caring teachers, adults, and friends who understand....
I have ADHD, it's gotten better with the years. When I was 4 I was one crazy little bastard who would run around, not be able to do easy task, and was just extremly hyperactive. Then when I was 11 my Father died and it got worse, I wasn't able to sit down and study, would make random noises, and my hands could never keep still. However I was always a very good reader learned how to speed read at around the age of 6. Now it's not as bad, I still have a hard time listening though.
i have ADHD, i am 15 now and i have had it as long as i could remember. Do you want proof of my ADHD. i watched about 20 seconds of this video before losing focus and writing this comment, which i came up with while i was writing.
funny... i was diagnosed ADHD back in 1994 and never had this "frustration" or "stress problems" when i was their age... so, was the world happier and beautiful 15 years ago? or are this kids being conditioned to feel like they have a problem for having ADHD? ... well done mom and dad, well done :T
@cxmb I feel like a lot of people are looking down on kids and telling them to their faces that something is wrong with them until they believe it. They'll be asked if they feel a certain way (ex: a symptom) and feel obligated to agree. It's very unfortunate.
the thing about it that sucks is that the harder you try to study, the more difficult it is to study or accomplish the task at hand. the other thing that sucks is that we were considered the bad kids in class because we couldnt control it. fuck it. we rule
I wish that someone had helped me to recognize this when I was a kid. The problems that arise from ADHD increase exponentially the older you when it's not addressed. If you're reading this, please don't start smoking ..anything.. as a counterbalance. Meditation really does work and is enhanced with physical activity and a counselor. ADHD is a gift creatively once you realize how you can make it work for you.
Yes, they need to detoxify their brain with an oxygen therapy, chelation and nutrition, using natural treatments, but meditation is certainly a good step in the right direction...
school trains kids to do what they are told and to conform to the norms of society, it does not encourage creativity, individuality, intuition, imagination unless it conforms with the curriculum. The problem is that every individual is completely different so there must be some system for teaching them the most stuff possible in a short amount of time before they get into the system to fend for themselves.
I would really like to know what the true cause is and what helps. I have two sons, they are night and day as for content in one place all day vs. completely active and I could tell this difference during pregnancy. My youngest is now 7 and in 2nd grade. His teacher last yr worked in conjunction with the school to push him into an adhd diagnosis. I refuse to go the dr/drug path, I made that clear, current teacher doing great w/him, but I still sense his fustration outside of school.
Bad news is ADHD is caused more by environmental pollutants than genetics as they would like you to believe. Over fluoridation is one of the causes of hyperactivity and memory loss.
0:29 . the point at which the mind goes into tangents. digresses and loses focus. this kid has learned to identify the break in thought and he has learned to regroup. it's important to know what's going on. people just don't realize how serious add/adhd is.
many people just claim it's laziness.
many people cannot see it, and it can be frustrating for add/adhd sufferers.
many kids turn into adults, and end up on drugs and/or homeless because of the miscommunication.
@sk8bow I have it and it was hard to watch this whole video without being hyper.I also am always called lazy. You should be glad u dont have it.im only a kid
Ok I have done A LOT of research on ADHD and I have a son who may have this disorder, but I don't think he should be put on meds. WAY TOO RISKY in my OPINION. From all the research I've done, which seems to differ case by case there has been A LOT of controversy on the issue of side effects and over diagnosing. It has now been proven that behavioral therapy works just as well as meds in most cases. Check out this study on the US NEW site titled "ADHD Medication: Can Your Child Go Without?
im 17 and i cant concerntrate at school proply and when i get angry i turn everything upside down (mess everything up) and i dont know if i should contact my doctor about it
I cant sit still i bug almost everyone and i get extremly mad and i cry when my mom tells me to do one thing and my dad tells me to do another thing i cant organize them together and when im reading something for school i have to read it about five times to remember it.
You can also get a blood test for ADHD. ADHD is real and serious, but some people don't think that maniny because people with ADHD get prescribed stimulants.
@c0ncerta Do you feel that these drugs can cause any brain damage? because apparently that is the new trend people believe ssri's and stimulants can alter the brain in a negative way.
i have extreme ADD when i sleep i move across the bed and turn myself around too much, i annoy everyone i know all day until they leave,i like being around my mom and dad allot but mostly my mom and when i do homework i get mad and
i have ADHD sometimes when I don't take my pill I get off track and get distracted easily like one time i answered a question with Merry Christmas because that's what I think about all the time... when I'm not on my pill
From childhood I have been unable to work hard on anything, only spending time on watching TV and eating good food. I hope it is some kind of a disorder too.
i Have ADHD. When I sit i move around and when i sleep i move around too much. sometimes I When i do homework i thing about something else and get off the homework and do what I want to do. and i tend to annoy everyone I know. I also tend to always love to be around my mother.
@MultiMario2011 dude your like my twin every thing you say i have more than you i have extreme ADHD when i sleep i move across the bed and turn myself around too much, i annoy everyone i know all day until they leave,i like being around my mom and dad allot but mostly my mom and when i do homework i get mad and frustrated and feel like playing my x box
i have a nephew under my custody who has ADHD he has porblems reading he should be in the 4th grade is currently in the 3rd but reads in a 2nd grade level what can i do to help him? does mhmr counseling help? i need advice Thanks :)
@lilrosali Do everything you can to make learning fun! I'm 22 now, and was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8. When I was a kid, my parents helped me out a lot by sitting with me while doing my home-work and converting simple math problems into story problems, asking me to read aloud in my best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression, etc. Hope this helps!
The consequesnces of ADHD are delayed. It has been a documented disorder since the Roman Empire times. As far as it being a society problem, this occurs when the child/family is not treated. Education and support are the cornerstone to this condition, and medication actually has been shown to reduce or eliminate the possibility of substance abuse. The fact that because of it's hereditary component, most of the parents are struggling with addictions or failures in relationships, employment etc.
This is a much better way of treating people with ADD... drugs are just crazy. And I think that telling kids they have a disorder is the worst you can do!
Lul I have ADHD, and I can sit still, and read properly, and do everything else everyone can do.. Except I do it quicker, and more fluently. It's like I'm whicked fast. xD
@coolarrow737, I agree that the majority of "ADHD" cases are due to the chaotic world we live in. However, I'm not so sure how easy it is for parents to break their child away from society as a whole where it's the "norm" for kids to tweet and be slaves to "on-ness" and the social hivemind, always at the ready to answer that latest text message, etc, with no quiet time. It's a pretty deep societal problem. I will say though that this widespread "solution" of drugging kids is the worst "remedy."
I have ADHD but I don't take any medication and is not as serious because I'm doing well in school but I can't seem to focus on anything that I like to do. I usually do something one day and then the next day I decides not to do it. How do you fix that?
Every year when i go to camp , there is always a person with ADHD in my cabin .. and to be honest people with ADHD are really cool and fun once you get to know them . Thats why i dont always judge them right when i see a person diagnosed with it .
This makes me think of what I've needed to learn to do to manage my stress or when I get frustrated. People with ADHA just need to train themselves to be able to do that.
MAYBE we shouldn't be feeding our kids, with growing and smaller bodies, intensified soft drinks with LOADS of sugar and foods that pollute their BRAINS. MAYBE.....
@cjmoshpot1995 You are lucky if your parents realised that ritalin makes you a zombie. I had that thing for 2 years every single day. Nearly ruined my childhood.
@cjmoshpot1995 stop taking it. It will be hard for a while but you can do it once it's out of your system. You can manage it by yourself if you just put in the effort. Find what interests you, practice self-control, etc.
i have a freind who has ADHD, to tell you the truth, i thought i can handle kids with ADHD, but it turned out to be 5 times worse for my freind, example: he dosent do homework, like not even once, he swears allot. he forgets everything he needs to do like 24 seven, he also is so lazy, to do anything, i try to respect im as much as i can, thats why i dont make problems with him, but he always makes trouble with others, trust me, its not an easy job, to handle kids like this
I admit im capable. Went to private school and got straight As for my GCSEs (small, fullon classes)
Im now 18 doing A levels at college (more independent) and failing. I cant concentrate, I daydream, procrastinate, get worked up (often tear up my work if its messy and start over) and demotivated. Extra tuition help (someone there forcing me) Im so envious of mates that can just get on with their work. Im so behind and just cant find a way to 'get on with it'
@deadpezco No, I really don't think you are lazy or making excuses. That sounds VERY much like me. I did all that. I started out with really good grades which fell as the work got more and more independent. I now study at the university but have been doing it for way longer than it should've taken me. I just got diagnosed with ADD and finally understand why things that seem so easy for others are so hard for me. Get tested and I promise the world will open up for you.
no it isnt i am adhd and all my friends tease me about it and it isnt fair i mean i sit there andtell them i cant help it but they dont understand and it hurts my feelings
@JasonEagle2 Forget that stupid people who teased you....they are nothing and dumb!.... I am aware of Adhd myself.....Don't worry abou it....I advice you to take the med and calm you... I am sure you need more attentions from anyone and do something else instead of hanging out with the teasers who are low!!! You are different from them as they can not do anything about it..... ok?.. just shut them up and move on....
add people are just different, i am add adhd and bipolar and i have hallucinations, ive noticed the best thing for me personally is when i become frustrated with one thing, i move on to something else, so my hobbies are multiplying rapidly lol. if a kid with add or adhd really wants to learn something they will actually learn it faster and excel really fast.you have to keep them from getting bored thats the problem, once they get bored their minds just shut off like a light switch lol
I have ADHD. I hate it because when my medicine makes me focus, it makes me angry and not eat nd my m8s say im an asshole But when I take a lower dose, which makes me happy and all my m8s like me but dn I don't focus... so its either good grades or a social life nd school sucks ha :)
My big brother ehren had ADHD, he's had it since he was 10 maybe, I can't remember. But that kidds the smartest person I know. And he's only 17. He chooses to not do his work, because when he pays attention he has all A's! And it frustrates me more than anything that I struggle and hate my classes, but he just somehow is part genius and doesn't want it... :/ he got kicked out of online school for being behind and now he's takin his schooling at the college. He's graduating this December, 2 year
i have a learning disability and my teachers are pretty sure its ADHD because with special test I have took. but the school can't diagnose it. Only doctors can is what my teachers told me and it just sucks not exactly knowing what I have. all I really need is an answer. and i did research that most boys get learning disabilities because if there growth of something. Because I'm a girl and always wonder why I was always in boys groups and the only girl in groups for when I got help.
I can't sit still cuz my body just can't. When i learn some thing... about 5 minutes later i can't remember. I have frustration problems... like if a test is too hard i'll just sit there for about 10 minutes crying not doing it. Other then that MY LIFE ROCKS!!!!!!
oh my god. i have never met someone with the exact same problem as me. i really know how you feel, i'm failing school because of that. i havent been diagnosed with anything because my mother won't take me to any specialists...
@1Rachelzz1 samee!!! if i try to sit still my legs will hurt i dont cry on a test but i definitly have frustration problems plus i get crazy and talk waaaaaaaayyyyyy to much
I'm 17 and I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 5. It was very annoying growing up with it, but its not all downers and stuff. There are times when I get on a role with random-ness. It CAN be fun at times haha :]
I have ADHD. I hate it because when my medicine makes me focus, it makes me angry and not eat. But when I take a lower dose, which makes me happy and all my friends like me, I don't focus... so its either good grades or a social life
My 9 year old son had ADHD. He was diagnoised at age 5 after a formal evaluation. He take 60mg of Vyvanse once a time a day when he wakes in the am. He shows no signs of adhd WHILE ON HIS MEDICATION. He takes his medicine everyday. He is outgoing, freindly, very caring & affectionate. He is also intune to people's feelings. He gets a's & b's in school. He is in 3rd grade at a catholic school & the kids are causing him such stress & anxiety. His confidence has level is rock bottom but only @ sch.
ADHD made me depressed. I Had to take pills for my ADHD, and now more pills for my depression. I am also allergic to milk, wheat, and shrimp. Life sucks.
i hate it when people think that children with adhd are nutty we aint , we just need a lil extra time than everything to help concentrate .. the best thing is to go on vitalin subsribed your local gp under the authorisation by your special doctor .
i have adhd look what i have achieved
a bunch of gcses
a place in the army
a dance group
just shows that people with adhd can do things !! just give them a chance and treat them the same as you would to everyone else
One of my friends is ADHD and it took awhile to understand what he was going through. He would attack me and scream and yell. He really can't help it and hanging around him made me stronger and more focused. These kids need somebody who is patient and just willing to take a chance on them. I'm a better friend for accepting him for who he is. I'm glad to know him.
I dont know if I have adhd but I am pretty calm and my grades are good and stuff. But I have problems concentrating on my assignment when I talk to my friends around me. I get distracted easily
@sinoflord i have add. and i am pretty calm. alot of kids and teens have trouble concentrating, but do you zone out and start day dreaming? do you figit around, do you skip imortand steps in school assignments? all those things relate to add/adhd
@sinoflord This is basicly because ur getting bored. When you get bored you wanna do somethin rite? i do the same in school, i am straight A+ student but at one point you get "too boerd"
I failed 3rd, 6th and 8th grade twice. Graduated high school at 21 years 10 months of age. Went to college part time. It took 12 years to get a Biology degree. I didn't know I had ADHD until my daughter was diagnosed when I was 46 years old.
sometimes I take things and throw them and just want to kill all or do yourself murder ... I get easily mad when I sleep, I can not sleep I hear lots of noisy sound everything and lots of things more ....... if you want to know if you have ADHD or whatever it is you get to go off for a special little doctors ... for child and adolescent psychiatric
This video was really helpful for my son who was just diagnosed with adhd. I got to ask a teacher questions to help my son with school: mommyalertadhd(dot)com
The debauchment of psychiatric medicine lies principally in its insistence of mental illness as being a physical illness, rather than a metaphor, a myth. So, in all truth, it might be said that mental illness is a question of "being" not of "having". The latter is certainly true of being "disabled" and collecting SSI or SSDI, as such is a social-vocational role. As a powerful myth, mental illness is a psychosocial issue, not a disease issue. ADHD is a needful falsehood in matters programmatic!
I dont know if i have ADHD but i often cant sleep easily because i have a very active mind and i get distracted very easily and i cant make my mind blank, like if i was trying to meditate, cuz i know that my mind has to be blank for that kinda stuff which makes my mind not blank!... if that makes sense! :P
@KidInvisble Thats what stimulants will do.. Funny how children are prescribed a compound very similar to Meth without even looking for the cause of the problem
I would have to give this thumbs up for its PC friendly content, as in the showing a diversity of children labeled ADHD, including girls! Put a feather in your caps, those of you who fought the battle for gender and race equity! Now everyone can "suffer" from the symptoms of an invented disorder. Be proud America, ADHD has gone global!
I got ADHD, I refuse to take medicines any longer.Sure, having ADHD isn't always fun. It's true you get distracted very quickly, you can get really angry. But I'm also very creative, have a vivid imagination and think further than most people do. And those things are really appreciated, people like that and say that I'm pretty smart and funny. To me ADHD has inconveniences but I just try to make the best of it, and play out the talents I have.
"its working its improving their lives, its improving their sence of self, its impowering them" sure does sounds like the effects of methamphetamine =) aka adhd medication
my friends notice it the most when were watching movies,, they tell me i always have to be touching something or playing with something while watching the movie. and they always think im a genius when its so obvious to me
@agusti12, I feel the same way sometimes and I am 34. Just remember that there are some really good things about it too. You have talents and abilities that you wouldn't have, if you didn't have ADHD.
@Broncosfan131 its okay, hang in there. dont worry about the kids teasing u. they dont understand what adhd is like 4 a person who has it. i kno how u feel from my own personal experiences with it, and im 23. i was never said 2 have it until a few months ago. my symptoms started appearing in high school. i had a difficult time with school work, and i always angry at everyone 4 no reason. i remember a few times where i even threw my books across the floor
I'm not aggressive and i don't do bad in school. My friends just say i am the randomest person they've ever met and I get off topic really easily. Does this still mean I have ADHD?
I have ADHD too, it's not good but to be honest I'd rather have it than be normal, it's like my mind is bursting out with info, and I have to let it out, the other kids at school tease me and call me gay stupid and retarded, but ADHD is actually really fun, you have this massive imagination and you are kinda random, I think all kids with ADHD should be proud
@JacobTheAwesomest Think how boring the world would be if all people thought a like. We each have our point of view and way of taking in the world around us.
@Rainy648 i agree, i have attention issues and i get very side tracted if i cant focus on something tht doesnt appeal 2 me. i have the hyper symptoms as well. but i was never diagnosed n elementary school, or thru high school, which is actually when i began 2 have behavior issues. i wasnt diagnosed until a few months ago.
the mind is a very powerful thing. I've heard we humans only use 9% of it or something? Once you get into that spiritual meditation stuff, you'd be surprised. Don't need no god damn drugs!
human beings especially children arent supposed to sit in a chair for 7 hours a day doing boring ass school work- these kids are not afflicted with anything- doctors always have to have a name or disorder for normal human behavior - shame on these stupid ass doctors prescribing amphetamines to these poor kids
well in school i was always hitting tables and things like drumbeats and i couldnt stop fidgeting, i used to get really frustrated and breakdown when i couldnt finish something like a test.. i was heavily addicted to computer games.. many people stereotype me for being angry all the time and some people thought being angry and violent was off putting and i wasnt and it was frustrating having adhd
@KronicJ1 oh man tht is awful =[. i kno how u feel. in high school i was about the same way. i got upset and angry over everything. it didnt matter what it was, it just was over everything. and i had breakdowns as well. i was never diagnosed at all, until a few months ago. ive always been a high strung person tho. and ive always had emotional problems also. the issues with my behavior has been hard, even in the workplace.
me:I have anxiety and mood disorder i have to go to a special school: NEW STORY
i constantly beat kids up at at school (without meaning it) and i was diagnosed with ADHD when i was like 5 or 6 (they where wrong) im 11 but I act like i have it (not on purpose) if you have any autism or disorder like this comment and reply
diagnosed at (uuuuhhhhh. . .. . oh yeah 7) im 11 as well
average grade: C/B-
every 10 or so minutes i need some sort of motivation or break to get back to homework; etc.
but really, with me there are more upsides: way better reflexes than anyone i know. i own at basketball (there's more but im not gonna bother writing more)
i took test online and i think i most likely have it.
i'm unorganized
can't sit still
mood swings
of topic
sloppy hand writting
when i was 10 i felt like i was about to pass out just because i didn't brig back the right thing to study but i just learned to kinda let it go then.but i still have the regular symptons but i learn to live with them o.o
hyperactivity, to much adrenaline in their blood stream. overactive brain activity.
in the animal kingdom, the animal offspring when they mature will challange their leader in an agressive hyperactive way. we humans try to move away from beeing animals being humans, to be somthing else. somthin un-human. the more different we are from animals the more human we think we are. not everybody have such self discipline and control as the rest of us.
@chanlin101 play guitar, boys usually shouldn't sit still? something with the hips or smething. or meditate to extend energy to healing a nd rejuvinating parts of the body
I got ADHD as well. My parents give me these pills to keep my hyperism down.(can I say that?) Back at school kids get me pissed off really eaisily c'ause they keep making fun of me, and so i get introuble eaisely.
I wish we would have known about alternatives to dangerous medications back in the 80's. My son might have been able to go on to have a normal life today.
i also have adhd i dont no if this has anything to dow ith it but someone please answer but i get EXTREMELy nervouse ALL THE TIME about little things! can someone tell me if it has to do with ADHD?
@RaptorBanana That sounds like an anxiety disorder. Like if you keep thinking about everything in a way of how it can hurt you or do something negative, so you get nervous about it. But you could talk to your doctor about it.
i feel it takes over me i cant sleep cuz i always think about something else and i cant help itt but to jump rite up and cant help but do it i waz takin medicine for it but it made me sick i waz hospitalized for 2 weeks and i still have trouble concentraatin i get in trouble soooo much and i cant get help i cant rememberr what i have to do after i have done somthin i thought of its hard for me to cope with it i dont feel normal
I have ADD I always have frequent shifts from one uncompleted activity to another! I am forgetful every second of everyday, and even have trouble paying attention to detail. I HATE people who say its not real and never have been in there shoes. My main promblem though is i have a REALLY hard time paying attention when my friends talk to me. They will say something and i will have to say "can you say that again?" I dont think they relize how hard it is for me to pay attention!
No doubt it works for learning, but ritaling is a like an modified extasy, you feel good, then you feel down, and that impression of down and being looked at help a Freaking lots to love learning and love thinking becose in fact you so high that you cannot realy have much social fun like making joke or such, so you spend you time or your buzz if you prefer for doing activities that you arent as much as good without being on drugs. This is what i tought when i was young and its still.
LOVE this!! :) Also, KINDLE owners, check out my eMagazine ( /watch?v=pg_K5C2iaqw )

does this change show up in a brain scan? objective tests are important to rule out biased opinions based on false correlations.

funny... i was diagnosed ADHD back in 1994 and never had this "frustration" or "stress problems" when i was their age... so, was the world happier and beautiful 15 years ago? or are this kids being conditioned to feel like they have a problem for having ADHD? ... well done mom and dad, well done :T
cxmb 1 month ago 16
@cxmb: maybe so. Or perhaps your ADHD is not as severe as those of these kids.
sardalamit 4 weeks ago

Is there a chemical imbalance test, blood test, medical test, etc for ADHD? How does one have proof that you have this disorder?
tien714 2 months ago
@tien714
People with ADHD:
Low Dopamine
Low Noradrenaline
You can also get a blood test for ADHD. ADHD is real and serious, but some people don't think that maniny because people with ADHD get prescribed stimulants.

Im so behind and just cant find a way to 'get on with it'
Am I lazy? Making excuses? Got adhd?
deadpezco 7 months ago
@deadpezco No, I really don't think you are lazy or making excuses. That sounds VERY much like me. I did all that. I started out with really good grades which fell as the work got more and more independent. I now study at the university but have been doing it for way longer than it should've taken me. I just got diagnosed with ADD and finally understand why things that seem so easy for others are so hard for me. Get tested and I promise the world will open up for you.

I got ADHD, I refuse to take medicines any longer.Sure, having ADHD isn't always fun. It's true you get distracted very quickly, you can get really angry. But I'm also very creative, have a vivid imagination and think further than most people do. And those things are really appreciated, people like that and say that I'm pretty smart and funny. hyperactivity, to much adrenaline in their blood stream. overactive brain activity.
in the animal kingdom, the animal offspring when they mature will challange their leader in an agressive hyperactive way. we humans try to move away from beeing animals being humans, to be somthing else. somthin un-human. the more different we are from animals the more human we think we are. not everybody have such self discipline and control as the rest of us.

I have ADHD. I can have a hard time concentrating, sometimes, but I generally have a problem sitting still. I have to be moving and doing something.

I wish we would have known about alternatives to dangerous medications back in the 80's. My son might have been able to go on to have a normal life today.

@RaptorBanana Like anxiety?
Seastone88 1 year ago
@RaptorBanana That sounds like an anxiety disorder. Like if you keep thinking about everything in a way of how it can hurt you or do something negative, so you get nervous about it. But you could talk to your doctor about it.
spazdawg93 1 year ago
@RaptorBanana yeah it does. ADHD is very often associated with other things such as anxiety issues, insomnia, depression, ect.
