Always though these were front wheel drive or was that just the later models? When I was a kid my dad had a later model Viva but he never done burnouts or shit so I couldn`t tell.
My first car was a '69 Viva I got for $125! 1100 cc's and 41 HP. I couldn't drive it on the highway because it would'nt go 100 kph!!! The one time I did manage to get it up to that speed- downhill- I had to brake hard for a policeman waving me over for a traffic stop. The little bastard literally would not stop- it felt like I was putting my foot through the floor. I sailed on by the cop- smoke streaming from the wheelwells- and just kept going. The cop didn't bother to chase me. Dumb luck.
Engine was 3.5 rover but now 4.6.Gearbox is LT77 from a rover sd1.Rear axle is scimitar with jag powerlok diff machined to fit.Rear axle has been 4 linked with panhard rod and all rose joints.Prop is homemade using sdi front end and rover p6 slider at the rear
@v8viva ah ok nice one just bought a viva rolling shell i was thinking sd1 but hard to find did you have to shorten the scimitar axle?thanks for the info, Jim
what v8's this running? ive got such an urge to stick a v8 in my hc but moneys a huge problem as always. its just that sound i want, and it matches the car too. power is an added bonus as lets be honest the 1256's dont shift much!
Its a 3.5 rover at the mo but next step is 4.6 or small block. Why not go for a 2.9 v6 out of a ford? Less cutting about and still sound the part plus a standard 2.3 axle would take it all day long
I had wanted to do that to my '67 HB, but money and skills weren't on my side, and neither was the shell :( Hats off to you, that's a great looking and sounding machine :D
Pretty impressive! You must have had to so some serious mods to get a V8 in there - the mounts on the chassis are totally wrong! I can see a big diff on the back!(me thinks you would never put a V8 on the 1200 diff!!!) Makes me wonder if trashing the HB I had was a good idea, but it was rusted out totally - kinda beyond redemption. I have an HC 2-door. Perhaps I should drop a V8 in that! :p Well done.
yeah bulkhead has been cut right back and a new tunnel.Back axle is a john sharp engineering spec scimitar axle with a v12 jag powerlok diff machined to fit.Axle has been 4 linked by myself and is running cossie rear discs and calipers
My dad had one of those, but it did'nt have a V8 under the bonnet.
