Leifur Eiríksson was Icelandic. He was born in Iceland and his mother, Þjóðhildur, was Icelandic, his father Eiríkur Rauði was Norwegian. Leifur would probably have considered him self as a Greenlander where he lived most of his life.
For the "making of" portion to the movie there is a really epic song that plays, featuring a choir, does anyone know the name of that song or the artist/composer??

The English "whooped' the vikings ass? Hardly. Try this on; the viking era in England lasted from their first landing in 783 to their last attack in 1066.Thats 283 years long, mate. The Nazis never even landed on Englands' shores..
english people -it's german tribes angles +saxons+jutes. Then german and scandinavian tribes normans .. So english people more german then any nation )) About nazi , if nazi land on britania island , great britain die very very fast. they lacky when german attack not britain - soviet unit
@Aliceinchains1234 The vikings as well as Anglo-Saxons and Normans intermingeled with Britons. Together they contributed to what is today being English. One of these missing their wouldnt have been any great English people less an English Empire. Check English History buddy.
Remember, THE VIKINGS journeyed to America 500 years BEFORE Columbus. Also, Columbus and the Spanish wiped out a whole race of people. The Vikings did not!
Correction, they landed in Canada. Because if you go to newfoundland you can still see ruins of old buildings that they established. I could imagine that they went to America later on but they still came here first
@PurrrGatorI Because Vikings werent able to otherwise they would . Either way Spaniards didnt kill they rape a lot aswell and then create the Mexicans xD
In regard to the Americas, the archaeological finds in L'Anse aux Meadows in present-day Newfoundland, Canada (to which the investigators had been led partly by the 16th-century Skálholt Map show that there was a Viking settlement which, while admittedly unsuccessful and short-lived, predates by five centuries John Cabot's landing on the North American continental mainland in 1497 and Christopher Columbus's voyage to South America in 1498.
Regardless of whether or not the map is genuine, it has been independently proven to general satisfaction that Greenland was settled by Vikings around 970, a settlement which lasted until the 15th century.
@BloodstormGMA i have nt been there but i have been told the buildings and remnant are still there and had red singles ,,, and should have been seen from far out in the ocean ,,,, makes sence for a sea going tribe to do this
Actually there were no Swedish Vikings, as Sweden came to be over a century after the Viking era ended. What was to become Sweden was a number of kingdoms such as the Svealanders, the Gaets, the West Gothians, the East Gothians etc..
There were many Swedish Vikings, People of Today Swedes ancestors.
The Svealanders (Swedes) went mainly East through the Rivers in Russia to Byzantium and around the Baltic sea, Some of them fought as Merceneries under Danish Kings in the West. The Geats went West, Raided English Coastal villages, But mostly under Danish/Norwegian Kings as Merceneries. The Goths (Gaets) became a part of the Svealanders quite quickly because they wanted protection from Vikings from both "Sweden" and Denmark.
eirik the red was born in jæren, Norway who got banned from norway.
He went to the norwegian colony island and got a son: Leif eiriksson.
Later he got banned from iceland, so he settled and became king of greenland.
His son heard rumors of a new land and got descriptions on how to get there, so he gathered men and went to the new land and became the first european to set his foot and later settling in Newfoundland, Canada.
Leif eiriksson was norwegian, he had norwegian parents but he was born in iceland.. dont forget that iceland at that time was norwegian land, and all the settlers there was vikings from norway
You can't say that Leif was Norwegian. You know why? Because Leif and his father Eirik were one of the first Icelanders. Iceland was a new land, just like America was, you wouldn't call Americans British? Although they came from Norway, they became the first Icelanders when they settled there and especially Leif Eiriksson, because he was born there. It doesn't really matter, Icelanders and Norwegians are all related anyways.
@Deifux During this time I sincerly dont believe that Norse would care if they were from Norway Denmark or Sweden altough is tradionaly labelled that Swedes went East Norwegians West(Ireland Scotland Iceland Vinland etc) and Danes more to the south England Normandy Mediterrean etc it isnt totaly unbelieble to see Norwegian in Constantinope or Rus a Dane in Iceland and Norwegian in Normany or England
does how came to america were there to colonise and not for raid, and btw they forgot the women on this clip and the animals, etc

Have you noticed how the Viking Ship looks strangely similar to the Loch Ness Monster?
Could it be that these Vikings had seen such creatures and then made their boats in their likeness?

‘Viking’ comes from a language called ‘Old Norse’ and means ‘a pirate raid’.

Leifur Eiríksson was Icelandic no doubt.
His father (Eiríkur Rauði) was Norvegian, yes, but his mother (Þjóðhildur) was Icelandic and Leifur was born in Iceland
That clearly makes him Icelandic
adalstef 2 years ago 2
And who inhabited Iceland? Vikings were known also as Norsemen, Danes and swedes.. together they were the Viking Empire..
BlazinLaze 2 years ago
Mostly Norse people though resent findings suggest there were Irish, maybe Druids, here first.
