Leifur Eiríksson was Icelandic. He was born in Iceland and his mother, Þjóðhildur, was Icelandic, his father Eiríkur Rauði was Norwegian. Leifur would probably have considered him self as a Greenlander where he lived most of his life.

eirik the red was born in jæren, Norway who got banned from norway.

He went to the norwegian colony island and got a son: Leif eiriksson.

Later he got banned from iceland, so he settled and became king of greenland.

His son heard rumors of a new land and got descriptions on how to get there, so he gathered men and went to the new land and became the first european to set his foot and later settling in Newfoundland, Canada.

the settlement was later destroyed by natives.

You can't say that Leif was Norwegian. You know why? Because Leif and his father Eirik were one of the first Icelanders. Iceland was a new land, just like America was, you wouldn't call Americans British? Although they came from Norway, they became the first Icelanders when they settled there and especially Leif Eiriksson, because he was born there. It doesn't really matter, Icelanders and Norwegians are all related anyways.

@Deifux During this time I sincerly dont believe that Norse would care if they were from Norway Denmark or Sweden altough is tradionaly labelled that Swedes went East Norwegians West(Ireland Scotland Iceland Vinland etc) and Danes more to the south England Normandy Mediterrean etc it isnt totaly unbelieble to see Norwegian in Constantinope or Rus a Dane in Iceland and Norwegian in Normany or England
