  • Thank you soooo much! You are a life saver.

  • Green screen is something new to me and would like some input about it & Where is a good place to get green screen ?

  • hi plzzz tell me how to download chroma key

  • Wait, so is this Magix movie edit pro 14? Like what software did you use, how expensive is it, and is it worth getting (your review)>

  • cool

  • Sometimes, when you over think something, you make it harder. Thanks for getting me past this "hiccup" in my project. Also, thanks for not being a 12 year old kid telling a 40ish year old guy how to do this.... :P

  • hahahah if u can speak hahaha thanks for the help

  • thank u....thank u...thank u

  • @usAma8633 Welcome, welcome, welcome...

  • @robertom2002 Use your color balance in video effects to tweak your chroma key options.

  • @joehandsome99 Thank you i will try it

  • Eric, you're brilliant in this tutorial - I love it! Highly entertaining - including the outtakes

  • @Jordmate Thanks kindly Richard. This is still one of my favorite videos just for the outtakes.

  • lmao , u make me laughh

  • lolololo

  • how do i stop the transpearancy problems that i am having? I posted the video reply so you can look at it. I am running Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus.

  • thank you

just did one with my wife in a green top looked funny but it worked

  • Great video. I just tried my first chroma key test film using your advice. I'll post it as a video response.

  • Where do you get the background music?

  • The info is in the side bar notes. Thanks.

  • nice video

  • Thanks kindly

  • good video many thaks

  • what is the exact color of the green clothe?

  • lmfao 3:41 u can see the screen thru his shirt lol great vid dude 5/5

  • Great video!!!!

  • That is pretty genius, I was just going to make the ultimate sacrifice and paint a wall in my house green, but the idea of using a sheet would work a lot better, thanks for the great idea!

  • IM SO CONFUSED!!! EVERYTIME WE DO THIS IM TRANSPARENT AND IT COMES UP ALL FUZZY!!!! help me!!!!!!!!

  • im really confused can you help me

  • question? how did you lean to do all this stuff on movie edit pro 14

  • hey thank u so much i subscribed

  • Thanks for watching and the sub.

  • wow this is the most help full video on youtube ive ever found! by the way, i kinda like the ending even more than the tutorial.

  • I had fun with the bloopers on this one. thanks for watching.

  • hey i am going to pick up a green screen today and then ill post a video and once again you are so helpful thanks a lot

  • Sounds good, thanks for watching.

  • you can also right click the clip, click video effects and select green box but this works

  • Yep, thats right also.

  • Thank you much for the informative video. Keep up the great work.

  • Thanks for watching and the comment.

  • how long does it take to render? and which movie edit pro are you using? Also how much does it cost? Oooooh, and does it have spill supression to get rid of the green that leaks on your face? lol, i know that's a lot of questions, but please answer! It looks good! thanks! : )

  • Depends on your computer and how long the movie is. For this video I was using V12 I think. They have released V14 and V15 since then. Yes it has threshold and fading range controls to tweek the chroma key effect. Thanks for watching.

  • Thanks dude... I've been trying to get this to work with my other video... Can this work with a white screen? I don't have anything green for it.

  • Yes, it can work with a white background, but remember not to wear the color you are going key out for best results.

  • Good work Eric, i've been wondering how to do that. Soon as i get time to mess with it, i'll send you the results of your teaching, thanks.

  • Sounds good, thanks.

  • Natural lighting does help. Try adjusting the chroma key effect with the threshold and fading range to get a better key effect.

  • Good vid.. but does it HAVE to be green?

  • yes

  • alright.. ty.. ill just buy like bed sheets or something

  • Green works best with skin tones for me but you can use white, and blue also.

  • ok thanks

  • Can you do a freeze frame. On your chroma key effect video....it has you talking in front of a video. I have a video that I want to do the same thing with but instead I want to to freeze in certain places and comment on what just happened... and then have the video pick up where it left off....if that makes since lol

  • Watch my video called freeze frames. It explains it for you.

  • This was a great help. We are trying new things with it now. I will try and post something later this week or next. The one thing that I would like to point out to people is that you do not have to get the green screen perfect. We spent about 3 hours trying to get the lighting correct and were only close. Then the next day I noticed the slide bar in the video effects screen the cleared up all the static that I had. Great videos. Am learning alot from them.

  • That is the threshold and fading slide bars. They help to fine tune your chroma key effect.

  • get done lol. its git-r-done.

  • Git it done, Git r done. It's all the same in the end. lol....

  • hey Joehandsome99 i got a question:

im making a zombie movie and i have very few actors and i watched the special features in Forest Gump and they just used a group of people and copied them a few times to make the group bigger and I wanna take the few actors that i have and copy them to make a bigger group. so what effect do i need to use? chroma key, clone, masking or i don't know any more i just started the movie editing thing but its fun anyways thanks for makin awesome videos!

  • You could clone them if you setup the scene correctly. Chroma keying several people would be the best option though. Hope this helps.

  • ok thanks i'll try that!

  • does the green screen have to be green?

  • It can be blue also, but green works better for me.

  • Where did you get the fabric?

    1:02

  • I bought it from a fabric store. It is a bright green color. You can purchase green screens online also.

  • We bought a set of bed sheets that work just as good. Saves money too.

  • how do i use it on movie edit pro 15?..its diffrent

  • I will have to make another tutorial for v15.

  • the supman icon on your shirt is transparent,,,,,,,,,,,,, that looks so cool :-)

  • This is a great video! I also noticed this! It made me laugh!

    3:41

the supman icon on your shirt is trans parent!

  • thanks so much man!! haha so simple after you showed me the way!!

    cheers!

  • Thanks kindly phaleal.

  • thanks eric. i spent all day trying to figure it out and then i saw your video and had it solved in 5 minutes. im having trouble now with the audio playing at the same speed as my video frames. im using MEP 12. any ideas? thanks!

  • Try right clicking on the video and select re-create frame table. Also try creating the wave sound. that may help.

  • wat did u use to ad croma key?

  • I have to update this video as they have released newer versions of MEP.

  • i LOVED when you said that you sounded gay that was hilarious

  • lol... Thanks for watching iiiPerry.

  • Cool tut!

Isn't it easier to just click "Video Effects" --> Green Box --> and the you can control the effect.

  • I need to revisit this video again with an update. Thanks for watching caives.

  • great video, you have the best tutroials on youtube thanks so much!!

  • Thanks for watching and the great comment lovelyti2002.

  • So I can use green with the plus edition.

    cool

hey which would work best for my green/blue screen

    posterboard

    or fabric?

    help joe

  • I have used both, dempends on what you are diong. I like using the green color the most. Hope this helps 0films.

  • hey joe some question:

Im getting the plus addition does it support green or only blue?

  • The standard or plus edition will support blue, green, white, black, and alpha chroma keying ofilms.

  • Keep up the great work!!!!

    Mike

  • Thanks for the great comment Mike.

  • Yes, i will consider this

  • Ok Im set now, i just bought a double twin green bedsheet from target last night. Im tacking it to the wall... i'll let you know how it goes and try and upload a response to this video for ya. Marcus

  • Bitchen man, thanks sooo much for helping me with this, i was totally lost. I bought the program movie edit pro program just for this effect.. U R da Kaiser!!

  • Glad the video helped. Thanks for the comment mvowedeking.

  • just wondering but does the background have to be green or can it be some other random color.... i'm new to this software but im not too sure on how this works

  • The background can be green, white, blue, and black in MEP. I like green because it works well for me, but you can experiment with a clear blue sky or a white wall inside to try it out unrealerror.

  • I want to personally thank you for making this very helpful video! I just picked up MEP 14, primarily for this very effect. You took me right where I needed to go. I think it would have taken me weeks of studying the manuals to figure it out. You will soon see a test video from me as a way to say thanks.

No doubt, this progam rocks. I am loving it more each time I work with it.

Thanks, Eric! We'll see you around the Toob!:)

  • PS: Loved the out-takes too! I have a "reel" of them too. I toss one or two out there every once in a while...LOL!

    Thanks again

    Rick

(sorry, forgot to sign my last comment...oops.)

    Rick

  • The out-takes are fun. I always leave the camera rolling as you never know what will happen. Thanks for watching Rick.

  • I will be re-visiting some of my older tutorial vids to keep up with the latest versions of MEP out there Rick.

  • Not sure just what is different between MEP 12 and 14, but so far everything you have shown for 12 does the same on 14. All I know is I LOVE this program, and your inspiring tutorials are spot-on for me!

As to out-takes, you are so right about never knowing what may happen! I have a little video of out-takes I made during the making of a music video. If you get a chance, you may get a chuckle or two from it!:)

    Thanks again for these vid's!

    Rick - Loose Wheel Productions

  • I still watch this video from time to time and crack up on the out-takes myself. Thanks for the compliments and I will check your vids soon Rick.

  • I tried to follow the description that you gave but my Magix Edit Pro 14 didn't have the interface that you show on your tutorial. Thank you for your effort. (My Pro 14 window has no Library that I can find. How do you open that? Did you do every step as though I know nothing about Magix 14?

  • I will have to revisit this tutorial to keep up with the different versions of MEP. Thanks for the input. It is appreciated cmilton111.

  • ahahahahahahahahaaa lmao "that sounds gay"

  • Thanks for watching gunner0112.

  • thank you!! very good and funny :)

  • Thanks for the comment slot200.

  • u shouldve blue screen something on your blue shirt too

  • I may have to try that next time. Thanks for the comment whatvideowhere.

  • Thanx i couldnt figure out how to get to the chroma key effects : P

  • Glad the video helped Scandal.

  • This was a nice, helpful, and well done video! I specially liked the end "bloopers" you added at the the of the video...reminded me of Jackie Chan's movies where he shows where he messed up at the end of most of his movies. Keep up the good work, man!

  • Thanks for the kind words. Glad you liked the bloopers also elpoder08.

  • nice video it really helped me with this, one question though is the lighting required to make it look good? or will it look awful without it?

  • Lighting is the key to making your chroma key videos look really good. Poor lighting = poor chroma key videos. Thanks for asking and pointing out a good point Pandaflimz.

  • ok thank you

  • soooo... MME only supports green screen and blue screen?... what if someone wants to use another color as a chroma key?

  • Actually, MEP (movie edit pro) supports blue, black, white, alpha, water, and green chroma keys. Thanks for watching Turtlebear.

  • what if i use an odd color as the background? there's no way to chroma key that right? I was just wondering if this program is capable, because in sony vegas you have this dropper tool where u can chroma key any color you click on.

  • Well, I dont know what your looking for, but if another program fits your needs then I suggest you go with it. Thanks Turtlebear.

  • okay thx for the advice~ props

  • OK...I think I know what my problem was....my curtain isn't "GREEN" enough. I was using a sheet....it's more Hunter Green than a brighter green. When I used a different 'key' other than greenbox, or bluescreen, I was able to get some effect, but not very good. OK...I'm off to the dollar store today, to find a brighter green curtain! LOL! I'll let you know how it works out!

  • Using a true green or bright green for a background makes a big difference. I went to a local fabric store and bought a couple yards of bright green fabric and it works well for me NJKatwoman.

  • Thank you so much, JoeHandsome99!!! That's what I was doing wrong! Need a good "Irish" green, eh? LOL! Well, that's exactly what I will do now! :)

  • A true green or bright green will make your videos work out right Christy.

  • I'm getting frustrated, because I've done everything, step by step, and it won't work for me! aaargh! I use Movie Edit Pro 12.

So, what am I doing wrong???

  • Hello christy, Call into next weeks show before or after and I will help you with this.

  • ok now how do i record from the green screen and save it? can i use a blue sheet?

  • Yes, you can use blue, white and black. There are a few colors to choose from and green seems to work best for me barkly54.

  • Love the outtakes. LOL

  • Thanks alexbfa.

  • hey men .... thank you ... u r the best... i have learn a lot w u... thanks... hey is there any way you could do like a fight with special effects ...like power or things like that .... i thing it will be a fun video...ok bye

  • Yes, they can be keyed in. Thanks for watching and the comment alejandro018.

  • is this magix movie edit pro ??

  • Yes, it is an older version, but the tutorial will work with the latest versions of MEP. Thanks for watching Cjlievin.

  • you know your probably the only one on youtube that does easy to follow videos about movie edit pro. the others i looked at didnt explain anything but you videos explain it so simply. 5 stars

  • Thanks for the compliments and rating timm.

  • i agree 5 stars, all his videos r like that

  • Thanks very much for the great comment samofilm.

  • what version of movie edit pro is it?

  • I started using V11, then V12 and now V14+ frasier.

  • thanks helped alot

    you rock

  • Thats good to hear. Thanks for watching and the comment xadamcainx.

  • Eric have you tired chroma key effect with cloning. Just wondered if it could be done. The idea I had was using a drive in theater as an overlay and while the film was showing on the big screen have myself and the clone sit in the back and annoy each other. Didnt know if those would work.

    Thanks,

    Kicker Fools

  • Yes that is very possible and a great twist on the idea. I look forward to watching that video kickerFools.

  • does it work with every greens? Or just the one you were using?

  • It will work with different shades of green, but stay away from the dark greens. The brighter greens work the best. Thanks for watching Cyprusproductions.

  • Awesome! I had some questions about greenscreening, and you answered them! Thanks! In case you are interested, you can visit my channel and view the video I made after watching your tutorials. The name of the video is"I, Dragonbrusher"

Once again, thank you for taking the time to do this, and other vids with such good information!

  • Glad the video helped out. I looked at your video and website and you do awesome work. I have other video editing tutorials on my channel as well.

Thanks for watching and the kind words DragonBrusher.

  • lol

"keep the videos coming I love em" ... "that sounds gay"

    that was great. Good video

  • Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment Jhard654.

  • Gracias eric, realmente me ayudaste!!!

Thanks eric, you really helped me!!!

  • De Nada Mi Amigo. I hope I got that right. Thanks for watching and the comment gonzoelduke.

  • HiJoe: I want to purchase Movie Edit Pro but first I have to know this: Can i import AVCHD files from my Canon HF100 ? George

  • MEP V14 does reference AVCHD in the description, but I do not know for sure. Go to the magix website (magix(.)com)and check it out. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the video george6o.

  • can you use movie edit pro 11??

  • MEP V11 has the chroma key effect in it if that is what you are asking Olsonstudios.

  • Hi Eric !

Great job ! great tutorial (as the others, everything seems very easy to do with you !) I was very surprised by the quality of your chromakey effect, even with a lot of light I always have bad results, Which camcorder do you use ? you use a sony sr80 ? Mine is a miniDV and I read the color quality is not good enough for the chromakey, is it right ? if yes, I buy a sr80 !

Thank you for your response and keep going to make videos !!

    Christian

  • Yes, I use a sony sr80. The hard drive makes it very easy to get the videos on my computer. I never tried using a miniDV recorder before, so I am not sure what kind of quality you get out of them. JVC makes the everio and I think panasonic has a camcorder with a hard drive option as well. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment gurzixo.

  • can you do black screen as a backround

  • Black, Blue, White, and Green are the only colors you can use in movie edit pro for the chroma key effect. Thanks for watching the video runfoxrunn.

  • Great tutorial! I have Movie Edit Pro 12 and didn't know I had that feature! Thank you so much!

  • I am glad that the video helped. Thanks for watching and the comment NJKatwoman.

  • thanks!! im gonna try the white box on by bright wall!

  • Sounds good, I look forward to watching your video airsoftkid97.

  • how do you upload them to youtube?

  • Check my movie edit pro playlist on my youtube channel. I have a tutorial on making your first youtube video. Hope this helps and thanks for watching airsoftkid97.

  • on magix you go to export to windows player file then upload

  • Movie Edit Pro is the only program I know that can do white screen Chroma Keying effects. It can do red screen and black screen. I don't know of any other programs that offer these effects such as White Screen. White Screen is the only one I use and Programs like Sony Vegas 8 only offers a Blue and Green Screen effect.

  • there is a white box option too, could u just use a wall or a big sheet of paper for that?

  • Yes you could use the white box option and a white painted wall in the house. White will work, but green or blue is the best colors to use. Thanks for watching videoshare123.

  • can it b any green screen right n any camara

  • A bright green works best that has plenty of lighting. Thanks for watching the video HGCFXJH2453.

  • any camara

  • I just ordered this software and am so thankful that you were able to teach us some really great "tricks" with this thing. You make it look so easy too. Would you say that this is overall pretty user friendly?
