  • I love this track. Dare I say that I just posted my acoustic guitar cover of this song tonight based on this solo version by Brian.

  • Just Brian + Gretsch = scarily good music :)

  • the best guitarist ever ....end of.

  • dam great sound!!

  • Brian Setzer, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix... These 3 men I hold solely responsible for my addiction to expensive guitars! Great song, great player, absolutely AWESOME guitar.

  • RAWR!!!!!!!! Love this guy!!!

  • thats entertainment!...1:30 , brian looks like he got caught in the cookie jar

  • A guitar in Setzer's hand is like a brush in Picaso's hand.

  • He is easily in the top 5 of the greatest guitarists of all time and I usually listen to metal hehe.

  • so underrated..so awesome!

  • gotta love that sound, this man made me buy a gretsch

  • Its not the 'old' Gretsch whats he's playing. Don't see the skullsticker, Lady Luck and the cat. The 'old' one should make his performance even better!

  • dig it.

  • Woahhh, is that a Lionel Ritchie album in the background??? Setzer was born to play that Gretsch!

  • 2:33 I think he went a little too fast, he almost couldn't keep up with the vibrato.

  • saw this guy in honolulu with the stray cats...BEST ROCK AND ROLL I EVER SAW. right up there with stevie ray vaughan. pure mastery of the instrument

  • Wicked. Love the Squeeze album covers on his wall ... good for you Brian!!

  • @tebleyserf I was noticing all the album covers too, but that's not his place. That's a VH1 studio.

  • a true rocker!

  • I have a couple of their albums (yes vinyl) never thought i would ever see The Stray Cats live . 2009 at the Tivoli (think it's spelt right) Brisbane Aust. 25 year anniversary farewell tour. They were so good, rockabilly at it's best. I have witnessed the best living guitarist and double bass player ever live.the Stray.Cats will forever rock-a-billy through my veins

  • The best!!

  • Very Awesome!

  • Setzer is da best rocker!

I dont think he got the story straight tho in this song as he goes on about skinheads which was a different group than the Mods. Mods had little but some hair and wore suits and funny coats. Skinheads just wore rolled up jeans and shaved their heads. There were 4 groups really: Punks, Mods, Skins and Rockers. Of course being an American this English news might have been somewhat confusing?

  • faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • badass

  • WOW! watched this so many times! Great guitarist, great guy.

  • Я ебал ту люсю. Такого я еще не видел. хорошо, супер, лав ю ! кул! спасибо

  • i've already seen that floor in joe perry video of Shakin the cage!!

  • Damn that hollowbody is amazing.

I was gonna buy a Hagstrom Viking, but now I'm thinking I should get this Gretsch beast.

  • I thought about picking one up until I looked at the price tag. The 6120 Brian Setzer models are $2500-$3200 (a little more expensive than the Hagstrom, lol). To be honest, I've played two of 'em, and they're worth every penny, if I had that many pennies. Buy the Hagstrom (or any nice hollow-body), and strap some TV-Jones Setzer model pickups in it. It'll save you almost $2000 and get you a real similar tone. Good luck.

  • I wouldn't have to get the setzer model, I could just get their basic hollowbody and it'd already be similar. Maybe then add those p'ups, eh?

Besides, I still need to save up for that Fender amp he's rockin', lol. Bet that's way more or atleast as much as his sig model.

  • Brian is sooo sexy!!!

  • Brian kept rockabilly Alive in the 80's !!! Gretsch guitars rule !!!

  • I don't believe he is underated. Anyone that know about guitar playing knows how great Brain is. Great Voice, Great Big Band Sound.

  • Great music, great dude, he's got balls! I've always been a fan.

  • Greatest Rockabilly ever.....For me RocknRoll Hall of Fame number 1....

  • and he plays with delay to!

  • natural overdrive small distorsion total control....

  • Amazing vid!!!!!!!!

  • I think Brian Setzer is THE MOST underrated guitar player of our time. SO much talent and such little credit

  • Not to mention he is also an amazing singer! It's hard to keep such a great voice while playing. ESPECIALLY the way he plays!

  • you are exactly right ! Brian has such an amazing voice. He is one of the rare artist that can actually PLAY A musical instrument and accompany it by superb singing. I have just about every stray cat cd and now and moved into collecting all the big band stuff, and I think no matter what he sings he's fantastic at it!

  • completely true. hometown hero over here

  • @Metallica1419

    totally agree...

  • @Metallica1419

good to see someone agree w/ what I've been saying. They gotta quit it w/ the tony iommis, dave mustaines, and eddie van halens, on the magazines for a little while. This man deserves to be on the cover for once. I definitely put Brian, Dick Dale, and Link Wray in the underrated list as well.

  • @frijolero01 I had the pleasure of seeing Link Wray live a couple weeks before he passed away, i can honestly say it was one of the best concerts ive ever seen

  • @frijolero01 You are so right, that's all I ever hear about it people like iommis, and slash, and a bunch of other hacks. It would definitely be nice to see some one with some class and talent on the cover of one of these guitar magazines such as Django ( I know he's dead lol) Setzer, Robert Conti. I'm just tired of the penotonic scale, 3 chord wonders getting all the spotlight.

  • @Metallica1419 Right the fuck on dude! You are so right!

  • @Metallica1419 Not to start anything... but Iommi isn't a hack. Slash, I agree. He's boring. But Iommi was great... it's ridiculous to compare him to Setzer at any rate. Both are great guitarists. Just rock out with both!

  • @Metallica1419 ... I must agree with you. I've seen him in concert four times, and the riffs he plays live while singing and attending to the crowd--all without losing the groove--are simply amazing.

  • @Metallica1419 Yeah, just listen to that SOUND!!

  • @Metallica1419 +1000 totally true !

  • @Metallica1419 actually I think Prince of all people is the most underrated guitar player, a lot of people don't even realize he plays the guitar, and better than most I might add, however Brian Setzer is definitely underrated and one of the best to walk the earth.

  • @howardbware agreed

  • It's an amazing execution, unique simply incredible :P

  • it's an amazing guitar player ! but his voice ...stray cats style forever...

  • VERY COOL !!!

  • One man. One guitar. HUGE SOUND!

  • man that gretsch sounds so mean!

  • A mean song with a mean guitar. I like that.

  • @squirrelnutcased yeah his tone is awesome. nobody can make a gretsch sound like that but Setzer

  • look att his eyes at 1:27 ! scary

  • wow, thats wierd

  • Giving him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he was detaching from the small audience due to the awkwardness of the small room. Even a performer finds certain venues uncomfortable.

  • sweet footage....

  • kill the skinheads!

    long live rockabilly cats!!!

  • i wish they would of kept the camera on his guitar playing trying t learn this one.great song, great guitar, amazing player.

  • mods and rockers agains disco...

  • pure raw talent

  • kill the mods! love the rockers!

  • fuckin eh skinheads

  • caralho ! isto é que é musica ! grande brian grande stilo , grandiosa musica !

  • Gosh ! Alone, he is awesome the king of rockabilly for my eyes, king of the Gretsch sound !

  • Great. One of my favourite Stray Cats songs.

  • AUSSOME SONG !!

  • Could someone enlighten me on who the Mods and the Rockers are and what their conflict is all about?

  • Rent Quadrophenia.

  • That guitar sounds like a V fucking 8 boy!!

  • Really interesting video. Thanks for posting. I love this song. Setzer is a genious... I hope he hang on the Stray Cats and let loose the orchestra. I prefer always the Stray Cats.

  • Brian is without a doubt probably the best guitarist around today. His tone and use of chords and structure and his crisp speed make him the best as virtuoso. There are others that are faster and louder and sound good, but they are not in this guys class of unlimited talent.Keep on Rockin' Brian ...KC

  • I would say that is a bold, but possibly very accurate statement. He's among the top five by far, up there with Dick Dale, John Mayer, Eric Clapton and Ricky Skaggs. He's my biggest influence on my writing and playing style right now. He can switch styles on a dime not to mention playing techniques. He understands the relationships between tones better than almost anyone and can execute runs and complex rhythm patterns with few mistakes, almost like Chet Atkins, but with better tone. Superb!

  • sick!!!

  • This cat, is cool.

I didn't know he was so talented.

Chet Akins quoted as saying he's one of the best, especially when he jams on a Gretsch.

  • Haiku??

  • blessed by the devil !!!

  • a los interesados de lima peru visiten la pagina de vaselina Rockabilly

  • Go cat go!

  • does anyone know what amp Brian plays through?

  • looks like a fender tweed head+single 2x12 stack

  • 59 bass man and 65 twin reverb. he uses old tape echo, I dont know what brand. There is a Bio on the fender website.

  • i'm guessing he uses some sort of overdrive too, unless he always just cranks his amps which i doubt

  • on the fender website it says bass man and princeton amps.(my mistake) as far as effects Uses strictly old technology: tape slapback echo, Echoplex, old chorus echo. Thats a quote from his bio page. He has a pretty extensive web site @brian setzer, com or go to fenderplayersclub, com for his bio.

What an amazing player. By the way do you play guitar?

  • cool, thanks.

and yes i do play guitar

  • I imagine with the vintage effects and the warm distortion they would cause would add a little bit to the clipping. Turn up the amp loud to where it's clipping a bit too and feed it a hot pickup from a Gretsch. You're going to get some edge on your tone, for sure. I also watched a video where he used a green vintage overdrive pedal, may have been a Tube Screamer. That definately gave it more drive, but not so much that the tones started to bleed excessively.

  • looks like a roland space echo on top of the amp in this vid, i could be wrong though

  • So fantastic that Brian setzer wrote about the mod's and Rockers in my home town.. Brighton... They still meet up once a year on bank holidays. And rumble down on the beach.. He's so cool

  • Betty,

Tell us a little more about the Mods and Rockers and how long this once a year rumble has been taking place.

  • well Daniel it has been happening for awhile now but now one really knows why they fight so much

  • because skins rock.

  • FREAKIN AWESOME!! GO CAT, GO!!!

  • Setzer is a guitar god! Thanks for posting. Does anyone know where this came from or where to see the rest of it?

  • It looks like it is on the set of VH1 classics.

  • Yes, it was in the VH1 Classic studio - I had the honor of being one of the 10 people in the audience (standing in the back) for this amazing performance (I used to be an assistant editor for the channel) -- it is a day I will never forget. Thanks for posting.

  • This is stone cold awesome!!!

  • As usual, awesome.

    Keep the faith.

  • that guitar sounds so perfect! belter sound mate...

  • immense!

  • One hell of a Hot Rod Buddy!

  • he is sooooo awesome he rocks

  • HE MAKES IT LOOK SO DAMN EASY ! Brilliant

  • i'm amazed by this guy, he's one of my favorites

  • How come my gretsch 6120 and blonde fender bass man dont sound like that!!!

Great video may be one day!!

  • have you got a good echo rig?

  • its all in the fingers

  • And a wicked good echo stompbox! I've played a Gretch thru a Fender tube amp but the echo box is what gives the combination _the_ sound.

  • Kind of sounds empty without the rest of the Cats....fantastic guitar work though

  • Sounds like me in my room playin

  • hah!

  • Setzer is just the greatest

  • Not one of his greatest

  • Cool Video! Thx for posting !
