  • Where is this car? on engine type?

Still don't see it on the road.

  • yessssss, it makes a sound!

  • wroooooom !!! wuuuuahooooo!

  • I dream this hydrogen car !!

  • i just wonder how efficient it is...i mean hydrogen is really really expensive unless they find a quick, easy and cheap way to manufacture hydrogen....

  • This is what the whole world should be driving on right now and would be if SCUM like Luminate or Bilderburg Group were not doing all the Dirty corrupt deals in this world with Saudis and other Big OIL Crooks to try and control the World...I hit the lotto and I'm buying one of these and small Hydrogen Fuel generator still to make fuel. I'll spend rest to stop all BIG OIL forever!

  • honoustly, one of the ugliest designed BMW's ,...!

  • I think this is the way to go. There aren't many car manufactures out there playing with electric cars. Who is going to buy an electric car, hook up their boat and try and drive 6 hrs to their holiday destination.

The damn thing would run out of power within the hour and then you have to wait four hours for the batteries to charge up!

I dont know, I think the internal combustion engine is still the way to go. You wouldn't have BMW playing wth hydrogen for nothing if was all bullshit!

  • You can store easily and safely Hydrogen in Fibre-Glass.

  • just buy a Mercedes S-Class, it's better than the 7-Series, and the gas emission is cleaner than a Toyota Prius or any other Hybrids..

  • The issue here is CO2 emmision, which, the Merc will be pumping out by the tonne.

  • yes the emission contains less CO2.

  • hydrogen has no emmisions dumb shit thats what we want

  • slow down man, don't use the word dumbshit asshole!

  • yeah, but there is CO2 emissions when producing hydrogen though, so youre the dumb shit

  • looks like somebody's bubble just burst

  • thank you! Check out the youtube for Mike Strizki, water is in a constant loop with electrolysis.

  • You need to take chemistry class again.

  • Inaugurada la planta piloto de Hydrosol-II

  • It's funny. BMW started the Hydrogen vehicles and now everyone is starting it, trying to claim they started it. Sorry, the true production hydrogen car was the BMW 7H.

  • yeap i 100% agree with u.

  • BMW is the only company I know of that has a "production ready" internal combustion Hydrogen vehicle. Everyone else is experimenting with Fuel Cell, which powers essentially electric vehicles. I'd rather have Hydrogen internal combustion

  • Exactly. When I hear of hydrogen cars, its the BMW 7-Series that comes to mind. Not that General Motors bullshit or Honda Fuel Cell crap. BMW

  • yeah I don't see why we don't give hydrogen internal combustion engines a chance. Apparently it's relatively simple to convert/build regular gasoline IC motors to run on hydrogen and hydrogen production is slightly more environmentally friendly than gasoline production. I don't like electric fuel cell :( can you imagine a silent m5? wtf

  • THE problem is (and I DO know this as I work in the automotive industry and know this car) storing hydogen at -262C. The H2 atom/molecule is so simple (an molecular mass of 2) it leaks through absolutely everything. The current storage of this means that all the H2 boils off after a week. Storing H2 at fuel stations and transporting it from A to B will take vast investment and the losses are high. There are still stacks of issues to overcome with this.

  • that could very well be true. I do agree that the largest challenge facing the development and commercialization of internal combustion hydrogen is storing and transporting the fuel itself. I would assume though that the issue with hydrogen being all leaky and shit (hard to transport) is due to it's small atomic radius rather than its low atomic mass.

Nonetheless I think this would be so awesome if there was a way to make it work.

  • also apparently the mass production of hydrogen as a substitute for petrol gasoline is not quite as efficient, so it still produces more net CO2 to produce hydrogen... but there is loads of research happening with things like biomass and photovoltaic energy used to split H2O

  • We should be using solar and wind energy to convert salt water into hydrogen. That way there is no carbon footprint.

  • nice car i'm unsure about the whole hydrogen thing, this technology doesn't seem usable this point in time.

  • will the hydrogen consumption will greater than fuel consumption?

  • So how much is this car? It doesn't look very eco friendly to me.

  • burning hydrogen in an internal combustion engine does not cause any carbon dioxide, just a bit of NOx, but less than 50% of the emissions of petrol driven engines. The problem is to get the hydrogen, here much CO2 is produced, but this is a common problem to the Hydrogen combustion engine and the hydrogen fuel cell.

  • This car is priseless as its a prototype. However honda made 1 I think and thats a hydrogen and its 5million pounds

  • THis isn't a hydro-powered car, it runs 300 miles per tank on gasoline, and the rest is 125 on Hydrogen.

  • Couple of points. although Hydrogen can be made from fossil fuels, uranium, it can be synthesized on demand by sending electricity thru water. The main limiting step was to keep the hydrogen molecules separate from oxygen, post electrolysis

  • Israel has come up with a model using Mg or Al to bind the oxygen away, and they have a model that can do this cheaply for 2500 cost. This may be the car of the future.

Steve Meyer, now deceased, was thought to have developed one of the first water powered cars.

  • so how much would it be to fill up your tank with hydrogen??? if its less than fucken 4.27 a gallon i'm down... Does anyone know???

  • its a really nice car

  • solar blow cock because what the fuck happens when a cloud blocks the sun NO POWER!!!!!!

  • its HYDROGEn dude no solar power Hydrogen and solar power are two diffrent thing read up on your science dude like wtf what grade are you in??

  • Their working on a hydrogen car that splits the water with solar power, so, you can fill up from you own garden hose. Thats what I want.

  • who is working on this?

  • dumb arse

  • in addition to what scorpsx said....

    1) Bush set up the hydrogen fuel initiative to explore ways to extract hydrogen from oil (a hydrocarbon).

    2) there's not enough fresh water on the earth to supply everyone.

electric cars running on electricity generated from solar panels is the way to go. hydrogens are a joke.

  • 1) stupid

    2) wrong

    3) non-revolutionary

  • asshole this is a fuckin car that only uses water LS uses gasoline get ur damn facts strait

  • yeah amazing engineering on part of toyota. because of the LS600hL electric motors the car weights 900lbs more and gets only 2mpg better on the road and 4mpg worse on the highway. I'd stick with this car, or the LS460.

  • hmmmm and yet it still won car of teh year...did the 7 win anything...nope Lexus 4 Life number 1 luxury brand

  • i cant disagree with that. bmw makes the least user friendly cars. their idrive system sucks.

  • im buying one.

  • mai buna e dacia lu' tata

  • 1) Cost of a Fuel Cell car is about one million US dollars

    2) Fuel cell engine life span is only 3 years

    3) It takes twice the electricity to fill a fuel cell vehicle as it would an electric vehicle

    4) Billions more required for a hydrogen infrastructure

    5) No material known to man can hold enough hydrogen for anything past 100 miles

    6) Very poor performance in cold weather

    7) Leading Hydrogen research facilities now bailing out of this PR stunt ie Ballard Power

  • This car actually doesn't have a fuel cell - it burns the hydrogen in an old-fashioned internal combustion engine just like gas - and can as a matter of fact still use that, too. I concur many problems remain, however.

  • @currumbin316 They got 20 years to work things out. Before the Government bans the use of oil for gas, since we need it for more important things like plastic.

  • it was pretty cool how they kept the original soundtrack. never seen that before.

  • would these things start in the winter?

  • old shape

  • how fast is it guys?:D

  • nice car great job Europeans!

  • gah...another edit...it takes 50 liters of hydrogen to go the same distance as 13.9 liters of gasoline

  • I mean 4 times THE hydrogen...not 4 times to hydrogen...whoops

  • its too bad that such a massive engine only makes 260hp and it takes 4 times to hydrogen as it does gasoline to go 120 miles...

  • Great video !

    Please come to:

    overunity dot com/index.php/board,8.0.html

to discuss all overunity hydrogen on demand applications to run your car on just WATER !

    Many thanks.

    Regards, Stefan.

  • they should make a car that runs off like are or something right and when it goes through the engine the engine cleans the air andspits it back out

  • "air"

  • You are retarded

  • Perfect substitute for gasoline. Zero emissions = reduced growth of global warming. I hate the government and oil companies since they don't accept these ideas. When it will be too late, like always, they'll take this substitute and put it to work.

  • President Bush on Hydrogen Cars, April 22, 2006

Bush: I strongly believe hydrogen is the fuel of the future.

HAL: Actually, it's an energy carrier, not a fuel like oil. This means we have to make it with a real fuel by burning gas, oil, coal or uranium.

Bush: Hydrogen is used in a fuel cell that can power a car that uses no gasoline,

HAL: No gasoline in the car, 99% of all hydrogen is produced with fossil fuel.

  • Hal....your an idiot.

  • Personal attacks with no substance? How about demonstrating your "knowledge" . You're completely ignorant of this waist of tecnology.

  • Personal attacks with no substance? How about demonstrating your "knowledge". You are completely ignorant of this futile technology.

  • Bush: produces no pollution or greenhouse gas emissions.

HAL: But these are produced when the hydrogen is made, and it takes about 15% more fossil energy to make the hydrogen than ends up in the hydrogen.

Bush: Hydrogen vehicles can be twice as efficient as gasoline vehicles.

HAL: The best hydrogen vehicle is three less efficient as an electric car today.

  • The only emission is clean H2O or water. Electric vehicles require electricity produced by coal plants and such causing much more pollution.

  • Bush: Hydrogen can be produced from domestic energy sources,

HAL: It is produced domestically from natural gas, which means we have to import more natural gas.

Bush: which means it has the potential -- a vast potential -- to dramatically cut our dependence on foreign oil.

HAL: Yes, by increasing our dependence on foreign gas.

  • you retard you can get hydrogen out of water!

And I don't think we'll ever become dependent on foreign water!

  • Where does that hydrogen come out of? You don't just wave your hands over water and extract hyrdogen. The amount of energy it takes to split water into hydrogen and oxygen is fairly immense, and where does that power come from? 80% of the world's energy comes from non-renewable resources.

Nothing comes for free; you can't just put water in a tank and expect a car to run. Lots more time and money needs to be put into research.

  • Well if you put HCL with Zinc, Hydrogen is the outcome. The DMW Hydrogen team uses a machine that uses chemical reactions to extract the Hydrogen.

  • Hydrogen? haha

  • This is favoring the automotive and oil companies. The reason why they are doing research on hydrogen cars instead of electric cars is because it takes 3x more energy to power a hydrogen car the same distance of an electric car. And the cheapest way to get hydrogen, is through fossil fuels. Remember all the electric cars they destroyed?

  • Yeah, we are the leader in the gas conservation

  • A true Leader in Hydrogen technology

  • I really love BMW now.
