@meenastrid1 Good questions! You might be interested in asking the dancers themselves. Phillip Askew for one is pretty easy to find on Google. I'd love to hear what he says if you get in touch with him! (I think Lydia Walker is a bit harder to find; there's a singer of the same name.)
