Watching this make you realize how much our society has really given up. No matter the overall effectiveness of Ms. Reagan's program and the D.A.R.E. program of the late 80-s and early nineties, it at least gave evidence of societies attempt to bring about change. Now change is just a catch phrase for politicians (on both sides) and seems to have little meaning in both of their mouths.
TOTALLY THERE WITH YOU CIPHER256! DAMN,start them of with some weed for a few years and THEN.....take it from there if you really want to...but theyve never done shit maybe childerns decongestant...gotta start your mind altering ssslowly especially at that age!
at least in the 80s it isnt like today where snotty little girls look at people who use smoke weed with a snotty elitist attitude when they have completely NO idea what it is.
i wish there were people who offered me free drugs..
One thing for sure is the clothes that kids wore back in these times weren't slutty like what they wear now. When I was a kid I liked Punky's individualistic style.
Now, 25 Years later the Chiclets are all married to rich, boring doctors, they take tennis lessons and ignore their children. Sleeping with the gardner, they live life through the bottom of a martini glass.
when the chicklet girl spilled all that shit out her bag i was screamin "PICK THE JOINT PICK THE JOINT! FUCK ALL THAT OTHER SHIT GRAB THE FUCKING JOINT!"
Not everybody does drugs. I hate when people on tv say it and every other person says it, it's not true. I've never done them. I know about them, seen them and I never cared to try them. My advice to you is, stay healthy and don't ever try it, it can ruin your life, it has to some of my friends.
tk carter helped out in this episode against drugs & alchohol etc,.. 6 years later ironically & little did ppl know back then november 1991 he was arrested with a DUI while driving a stolen vehichle i wish before this had happened whatever issues he had in early 1991 he couldve watch the project he did in punky brewster to feel better at least about himself & what mike fulton represented for children on the show to make right choices for both fenster hall & teaching
I Think those four girl's needs a good dose of reality, I think someone should take them to a moruge, and let them see a dead person, and explain to them, that what's going to happen to them if they take drugs, next they should show them a cemetary, and tell them that's where they'll end up. maybe they'll get the big picture, Thumbs up if you agree with me.
Seriously though, lumping every single drug into one "thing" and acting like there all the same and they all have the same dangers is completely retarded and anyone who thinks that way is severely uneducated.
You can't just say "dont do drugs". Because it is ok to use drugs like cannabis, alcohol, MDMA, shrooms etc. responsibly in certain situations. But you need to separate the soft drugs from the hard ones and understand the difference.
This ep freaked me out as a child, but in all honesty it wasn't as bad as that one where Punky, Margo and Cheryl eat fritters compulsively hoping that'll make them grow boobs.
@ReaLizZe7 I couldn't shoot them all in the face twice but I know I'll be shooting Emily and the other blonde in the face twice the other I'd have to use an ice pack and wait to recover for about an hour and the last 2 I'm down for the night
I remember being in high school and college and I knew people who did cocaine and they would always offer it to me but I always said no because I was too busy thinking about graduating and making something out of my life. One of my college friends died from a cocaine, it was a tragic loss.
@beta447 I'm confused, so you're saying that someone who truly says no to drugs is somehow "morally superior?" What's wrong with someone living a drug free lifestyle?
@scarebear83 There is not necessarily anything wrong with being drug-free. But there is not necessarily anything wrong with taking drugs either, and nobody who does congratulates their friends on getting high. Drugs have benefits just like no drugs has benefits. In and of itself being drug free is not automatically good.
@beta447 Medicinal purposes have their places, I will agree. But recreational use, well, what's the point? While I agree being drug free doesn't automatically make one good it seems those who are drug free and/or would wish to see recreational use stop well, they are a dying breed.
@beta447 How? By losing one's teeth? Destroying their bodies from the inside out for just a few hours of fun? No thanks but I don't see how getting high constitutes as a "rewarding" anything.
@scarebear83 Boiling down drug use to 30 second commercial and anti-drug program propaganda stereotypes will not make you appear credible. Most drugs are non-toxic. Even heroin has very low toxicity, and don't fall over realizing I'm actually informed on that. The lifestyle itself is what is dangerous. What about drugs like acid which are non-addictive, why would people use them? Why have mushrooms been used for millennia and considered a sacred healer? Because people love self-destruction? Pfff
@beta447 Look, I don't know why you're trying to sell me or others on the idea that drug use = ok cause it's not. I've seen the nasty side of drug use even the side of the "just occasional" use and people don't realize that even for those few hours of being high, your mind is altered and you're not really yourself. Why not be happy for those who choose to go through life and live it sober? Society is messed up when it praises those who choose destructive behavior and blasts those that don't.
@scarebear83 You are only one person. Your experience does not represent the reality of the entire world. That's the first thing they teach you in a research methods course. The idea that "people aren't themselves" is your opinion. It is not your place to imprison/felonize/ruin the lives of people who are habitually "someone else." That is not a good reason. Exercise/eating/sex cause a VERY similar reaction in the brain to heroin. I have seen drugs ruin lives, but those people are the MINORITY.
@scarebear83 "Sober people" are sober for a reason. They may find joy in other activities which alter their brain chemistry in almost the same way that a drug does. Some people need drugs some of the time, a few need them too often for their own good. You don't ban knives for the same reason drugs should be legal, i.e. they have good and bad uses. Google "erowid how has lsd affected your life?". Will u stand in front of all those people and say to them your beautiful experience was bullshit?
@beta447 sober people are only sober because they had something in their life more important get in the way if their drugs.. for better or worst.. that's the only reason.. and no.. nothing "in your life" is gonna stimulate your mind like a big blunt of good weed, spoken like someone who's never tried and is lying to themselves.. Drugs are awesome... they just get in the way of everything else because others say its bad.
@JoshFritz561 Simple minds make simple statements. While it's amusing to hear you talk like you're a psychic, nobody believes you. There are a complex variety of factors that lead people toward or away from drugs. You don't even know me and you say I'm lying to myself... you're lying to yourself. You think you know things you could not possibly know. You accuse me of being a life long druggie, then put words in my mouth. Go suck on Jesus' cock for a few more hours. That oughta get you buzzed.
@beta447 learn how to fucking read... I accused you of being sober your whole life.. and I'm not talking like I'm psychic.. Why are you talking about jesus profanly? I didn't bring him into this... and if you learned how to read you would see that I was speaking pro drug myself... yet you accuse me of being a holy-roller that's calling you a druggie? You drunk while you read that one?
@scarebear83 LIES! You are always yourself on drugs... people who say otherwise are just coping out because they know if they say that then they can duck some of the shame. You are always yourself.. it's just a matter of if you are looking at the future, or whether or not you care at that moment what others thing of you. Sometimes the drugs can make you forget about reprocustions.. but a person wont do something they wouldn't have anyways.. This is coming from an ex-addict.
@JoshFritz561 I knew a lot of people when they were drunk or high did things they normally wouldn't have done sober. Why do you think there's so many people out there the day after a party either don't remember what they did or remember and once they've sobered up regret making a decision that could ultimately haunt them for the rest of their lives. Saying you're not yourself on drugs is not ducking responsibility it's saying, "I made a stupid choice to do drugs that ended up me acting that way"
@scarebear83 no, you knew alot of people that SAID they wouldn't have done that sober.. fact is they would have if they thought they could get away with it.. they only did it drunk because in their drunkeness, they thought they could get away with it. a guy that hits his wife drunk... is gonna hit his wife sober if he gets just as mad.... now, it might take more to get him that mad if he's sober.. but he'll still be willing to do it.
@scarebear83 drugs are like guns.... a gun being used responcably isn't dangerous... unless you leave it where someone stupid or young can get their hands on it. People need to learn responcability... oh I killed that guy because rock music made me. Oh I hit my wife because the alchohol made me, oh I stole because the cocaine made me. Oh i only drove because the alcholol made me. No, it's called your stupid, and don't care about anyone else if you need/ want something.
@JoshFritz561 The person *chose* to take a mind altering substance that made them act different than themselves. So it's still their fault and not the drug's but obviously you don't know of people who can be the nicest in the world but given the opportunity to drink will turn them into very ugly people. Is it their fault for drinking? yes. Can they get away with saying "the alcohol made me do it?" no. They chose to do it. It doesn't mean that drugs still don't alter your perception on things.
@scarebear83 it's obvious either you've never done drugs.. or you still do. as a long time drug user who has become sober and is at grips with his own mistakes.. i can tell you.. that nice person.. is only nice because they feel "they should" but it is not their true nature. Drugs make you not think about tomorrow.. but you still think about right now.. and the decisions you make are your true natured decisions.
@beta447 If you choose to praise those who use drugs, then that's up to you. But all I really wanted to do was give encouragement and praise to those who choose to live drug free.
Seems like today's generation of kids think it's still safe to live like it's 1975 all over again, throwing caution to the wind as far as drugs and sex are concerned. It's a shame.
Wow - this is a government program creeping into our childhood shows and we didn't even know it. Brought to you by Ronald Raegan. Now that he's dead, let's smoke the crack....
Just say no to drugs, I guess what your are saying yes to is the highest prison population in the world, financing terrorists and drug cartels, 7000 people dying yearly in Mexico, budget cuts: you also say no to education, health care reform, insurance reform, clean energy, medicine, and prison reform, the bill of rights, our liberty, justice, silencing witnesses, I could go on for days but I am limited on the number of characters.

scarebear83 1 year ago
@scarebear83 no, you knew alot of people that SAID they wouldn't have done that sober.. fact is they would have if they thought they could get away with it.. they only did it drunk because in their drunkeness, they thought they could get away with it. a guy that hits his wife drunk... is gonna hit his wife sober if he gets just as mad.... now, it might take more to get him that mad if he's sober.. but he'll still be willing to do it.
JoshFritz561 1 year ago
@scarebear83 drugs are like guns.... a gun being used responcably isn't dangerous... unless you leave it where someone stupid or young can get their hands on it. People need to learn responcability... oh I killed that guy because rock music made me. Oh I hit my wife because the alchohol made me, oh I stole because the cocaine made me. Oh i only drove because the alcholol made me. No, it's called your stupid, and don't care about anyone else if you need/ want something.
JoshFritz561 1 year ago
@JoshFritz561 The person *chose* to take a mind altering substance that made them act different than themselves. So it's still their fault and not the drug's but obviously you don't know of people who can be the nicest in the world but given the opportunity to drink will turn them into very ugly people. Is it their fault for drinking? yes. Can they get away with saying "the alcohol made me do it?" no. They chose to do it. It doesn't mean that drugs still don't alter your perception on things.
scarebear83 1 year ago
@scarebear83 it's obvious either you've never done drugs.. or you still do. as a long time drug user who has become sober and is at grips with his own mistakes.. i can tell you.. that nice person.. is only nice because they feel "they should" but it is not their true nature. Drugs make you not think about tomorrow.. but you still think about right now.. and the decisions you make are your true natured decisions.

@scarebear83 the BIGGEST problem in the world... especialy here in the USA is a lack of personal responcability.
JoshFritz561 1 year ago
@beta447 If you choose to praise those who use drugs, then that's up to you. But all I really wanted to do was give encouragement and praise to those who choose to live drug free.

Weed treats cancer, glaucoma, chronic pain, HIV combo treatment patients, ADD, ADHD, anorexia, bulimia...the list goes on.
Not only that but if you think you need the government to tell you and everyone else what to do then I as a free person pity you.
Keep on blazin' and don't ever stop!

Seems like today's generation of kids think it's still safe to live like it's 1975 all over again, throwing caution to the wind as far as drugs and sex are concerned. It's a shame.
