Who cares if the characters act like anthros? They're not the stereotypical variations that you see in...Nasty stuff that I don't want to name...And the important part of a movie is the story anyway. The characters can be terrible; as long as the plot is good, it's a good movie.

You seem to have missed the point of my original comment though. A furry is far different than animals in story books. I knew exactly what he/she was referring to.
There's no actual telling in the movie wheter Mei is a guy or a girl, but going by the voices, it might be a guy. But no actuall proof of what sex he/she is. In the english version, Mei has an a lot more feminine voice than it did in this one, so, not quite sure :P. But you can always have your meaning can't you xD
yeah mei seems like it would be better with a sodter voice and his voice sounds a little static. but when i thought about it, i realized that goats are like sheep and it actualy makes sense that his voice sounds like that but it does sound like hes reading off a script a little. However gabu's voice is almost paralell to its japanese counterpart and it has a "i'm a nice guy but theirs some malicious intent in there" tone. Wow this could realy be released in theater

In the books Mei's gender is ambiguous. However the author stated he thinks of him as being male. In the movie he's male too.

yeah mei seems like it would be better with a sodter voice and his voice sounds a little static. but when i thought about it, i realized that goats are like sheep and it actualy makes sense that his voice sounds like that but it does sound like hes reading off a script a little. However gabu's voice is almost paralell to its japanese counterpart and it has a "i'm a nice guy but theirs some malicious intent in there" tone. Wow this could realy be released in theater
