  • OMG the BASS.. Pino is a beast

  • Press 0. Wait a sec. Press 0. Wait a sec. Press 0.

  • Love Rays as well, just a bit different styles, which is ok IMO

  • What a sad crowd. John Mayer is a great guitarist, but those chicks just wanna hear him sing. They are like grown up Justin Bieber fans.

  • I want that riff at 2:53 SO BAD

  • the only bad part about this is that half the audience thinks mayer is just playing around with Kanye lyrics :|

  • I love the camera bouncing... adds groove

  • Love John Mayer but nobody can do this song like Ray Charles

  • Incredible groove! Trio on fire! I love the intro beat and John's tone! Addictive!

  • 2:30 biggest i wanna bang you face ever hahahah

  • Great Drummer............ John Mayer why are you singing this????

  • nice ass drum set

  • omg how come this is the first time im watching it??? haha epic as always

  • love that es335, but its so unusual to see john not playing a strat!

  • Where's the seven minute long verson of this? I remember watching it like, a year ago, and now it's gone! It was soo sweet! And the ending was killer

  • @guitarman1568 It's still on here, just do a search for: I Got A Woman John Mayer Trio. It was uploaded by

    JMluvergurl. enjoy!

  • what guitar is john mayer's?

  • @danielang330 looks like a gibson es 335

  • the michael jordan of drumming, steve jordan.

  • @TaffyRaphie ...no way. I JUST made this comparison to a friend the other day... siiiick. He is the Michael Jordan of the set.

  • @TaffyRaphie How cool is that !!!!

  • Those are 7th chords w/9ths thrown in (the high E string on the same fret). A lot of time John just plays 3/4 strings for better clarity. 1st time I've seen him w/an ES-335. Saw him w/ a Guild semi-hollow body once too. That lick @ 2:53 is da bomb!!! Around 3:44 starts another "bomb" lick!

  • omfg tasty lick 2:55

  • what kinda chords are those?? diminished??

  • Damn they're good.

  • damn that drum beat just groooooves...john and pino can't help but sound good w/ a beat like that.

  • Steve Jordan = master of drums

  • that lick starting at 2:53.....smooth

  • Pino Palla-frickin-dino!!!!

  • BEST EVER>>>>>

  • Never been a huge fan of John Mayer but Lordy, what a pleasant surprise.

  • @MrRockdevil I broke my mouse trying to click the thumbs up button a billion times

  • JM the new guitarist sorry haters...

  • Damn that tone is sick... Just like Try!

    Amazing

  • That girl at 2:27.... Well.. You know what she wants.

  • @1brannon10 Hahahahahahahaha so true.

  • @1brannon10 i know right damn that was intense want right there.

  • Sweet snare!

  • @stone34 dude, this version is fucking killer.. i have no idea what he hell you're talking about

  • I am JUST in the mood to hear this song, thanks for posting. JM is so good, he fits every mood :)

  • Steve Jordan on the drums!

  • checked!:D

  • uno dei miei brani preferiti di Mayer!!

  • 9 people thought he was ripping off Kanye...

    Ray Charles people!

  • @craff31 amen to that!!!!

  • @craff31 only people that don't know music.

  • @craff31 Don't forget Renald Richard who Ray co-wrote it with. He's not ripping off anyone. He's covering a song written by two other people, and covering it quite well. I look at it as a tribute and turning the present fans on to the wonderful past musicians and their music. You can't judge it by the original or any of the dozens of others that have covered it. It is what it is, and you either enjoy it or not. It's not a contest or about stealing someone else's thunder. It's music...so enjoy!

  • That was Fricken TERRIBLE

  • @stone34 you must not have ears

  • Comment removed

  • 2:27 creep....

  • @kevlar1818 she's secretly got her hand in her pants i think...

  • I am the male version of that girl at 2:28

  • @JD101PRO so ur gay?

  • steve jordan !!!

  • I forgot, what song was that sampled the ray original?

  • @willwelsh816 Golddigger by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx

  • Love this stuff, it's so happy...it's great when the blues can cheer you up.

  • mayer's bomb.

  • @korgri if I wanted to read to read an awful story or script for a play I wouldn't be on youtube, would I? I also don't want to delve into the techniques of wordplay that you have mastered. Maybe you need to find a better outlet, like a blog. Btw people generally don't like people who are or act smarter than they are. Seriously, just knock it off.

  • @rickshawsonson who is 'korgri'? it seem like a familiar naem but that could just be Korg synthesiser

  • @wallamaroon there's a breed of dog called the welsh corgi. but yeah korgri is some dude who ran off and deleted all his comments after I defeated him in a battle of reasoning.

  • @rickshawsonson Really?.. on every pther youtube video, it says 'comment removed by user' and leaves the name of the usre up...that's why I was curious, who all of you were addressng. It looks more like the poster of thw video removed them. I had remember readig some comments by a similar sounding name at a nother John Mayer video and I wondered if it was the same commenter

That's the dog from that anime Cowboy Bebbop. welsh corgri.

  • @rickshawsonson but I don't think Korgi likes John Mayer, from what saw at the other

    videos

    maybe

  • @korgri ...and I take from this comment that you are the kind of guy that spends all of their time critiquing other people's hard work, and never actually doing any yourself. Go fuck yourself. Maybe you can eventually get as good at it as you are at downing other people's artistic expression.

  • @korgri How witty. That's because there's so many people like you on youtube, people who bring nothing to the table but spite and derision for other people's work.

  • @korgri What badass blues records have you put out asshole?

  • what guitar is it exactly?! a gibson ES-??

  • @crazysjim The one he's playing is an Gibson ES-335

  • @christopauls Well not excactly. It IS a Gibson ES-355, but it's a Clapton signature model.

  • @crazysjim ES-335 Clapton sig. ;)

  • @crazysjim Gibson ES-335

  • i love that guitar tone

  • Love him! One of my favorite songs, ever. And he ain't hard to look at!!

  • What a jumpy bass line !

  • y are there always ppl complaining about john mayer on here. just let the man jam out in peice, stop being such a critical bitch

  • @cyrusjerome peace*

  • Tis pas een muziekje te goeie cd ben blij dat ik m heb love ray's music

  • I don't know why people have to dissect this as just a guitar thing. I don't know much about it, but I do know this sounds great and I can dance to it. I approve of this... as a Ray Charles fan. :)

  • @SavingSmilesForYou Ray was the man, and I agree I see it as pay respect to the greats before him which John did...

  • damn good version... I like Mayer when he does this kind of stuff instead of making music for teenage chicks

  • @IsaacB5679 but, by making stuff for teenage girls (which its not just for btw, the songwriting chops are amazing, Your Body Is A Wonderland is masterful use of rthymic meter, and the jazz bridge section is genious), john gets a whole generation of girls into blues music. And as an 18 year old lad... that makes me very happy!! *high fives*

  • 2:30, that girl wishes she cud pound Mr Mayer,

    Great version!

  • John Mayer is cool and all, but that smile at 2:02 is just hilarious.

  • gahhhh why is the end cut off?! they were gettin funky!

  • i dont see why people talk shit about mayer. ok maby afew can play better than him but mayer was the one the world choosed

  • Steve + Pino = Shexy

  • rock it son! JM...Steve Jordan and Pino....Double Trouble look out!

  • steve jordan is also great

  • an interesting thing about mayer, it that he's one of the few that doesn't depend on a pick to play well.

  • GOD. DAMNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  • Just to the arguments that have been going on below, grow up. Firsty, allow me to adress those accusing John Mayer of being rubbish, why are you watching his videos, then commenting about how useless he is? That seems silly. If you don't like him, don't watch him or comment on videos that his fans will love. To those who are attacking those putting down JM, grow up. Everyone has their own musical taste and preference. Seriously guys, come on.

  • @Jsuyker I totally agree.

  • This song far exceeded my expectations; it's hard to believe John Mayer can actually play the blues.

  • Drums. ¿ Thomas Pridgen ?

    Bass: Pino Palladino

  • @dinbrew

    Mr. Steve Jordan on drums

  • @dinbrew

I think it's steve jordan on drums

  • Bass: Pino Palladino

  • I'm ashamed to admit that I like this cover. It's hard for me to reconcile stuff like this with the guy who performs the lame pop ballads. Why can't he just stick to doing good music and leave the candy pop crap behind?

  • this arguement is stupid, i am a 15 tear old who lives for the blues. I play the guitar and I have grown up with my dads cd collection which features Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton ETC, ETC. And i don't like Mayer's personality that much from what i see of him but whatever you say he has the blues, he has a unique sound which you have to be so bloody stupid not to jealous about! I'm grade 8 and get told that im good but i can only dream of being able to play like Mayer!

  • Let me just say that for his young age he seems to have somehow absorbed bits and pieces of nearly every blues legend and reproduces them very carefully. That's his thing. He is about feel, which to me, every guitar player of any genre on the face of this earth should possess first and foremost. It's not about John's personal life or the way he is portrayed in the media. (I met him, great guy) At the end of the day, he has earned the respect of his heroes while inspiring millions. Wow. At 32...

  • @korgri peer pressure? most of my friends dont even know he is. and john mayer doesnt need anyone, your just a jealous little piece of shit whos afraid to show his own music to other people, instead you just try to make yourself feel legitimate by ripping on established, successful, talented artists with multiple multi-platinum albums. show me what you can do you fucking pussy, if you are as good as mayer, like you say you are, it shouldn't be a problem. you are all talk, can't play for shit.

  • @korgri upload a video of you playing anything remotely close to what john mayer can do you twat.

  • @korgri shut the fuck up douchebag you don't know shit about shit and i doubt you even play guitar, and if you did you would probably be saying your better than john mayer. you are a fucking idiot, nobody that one of your friend's friends knows could replace john mayer. i guaran-fucking-tee that i will rape you and most of your friends at guitar too. go back to your fucking metal or whatever the fuck you're into.

  • @korgri yea ok, you clearly know what makes a good guitar player and what doesnt, shut the fuck up and go back to blues clues or whatever the fuck you were watching before you decided that someone gave a fuck about what you have to say about successful musicians. 7 out of 10 guitarists only know 4 open chords and use capos so they can use them in any key, fucking dipshit. you are like, no wait, you ARE a little kid who needs to shut the fuck up.

  • @korgri yea, 6 hours a day for 8 years straight, that fake bastard.... please do some reading and stop being such a buzzkill. and at least john mayer doesn't throw his guitar at his fans when he screws up (which is never), which is more than we can say for tiger.

  • ill be damn ..hes playin a gibson

  • @jaydee123xyz its not that weird. he has over 200 guitars, and several gibsons, a 335, multiple SG's and an l5, which is 10,000 new, and i think he has the Page LP replica.

  • @jaydee123xyz yea he plays an even sweeter L5 though. Amazing guitar.

  • @jaydee123xyz he actually has like 200 guitars he tours with gibsons grestches fenders and others i saw it in some video on here he actually has an l5

  • @themanchild27 the l5 is a bombshell

  • @themanchild27 He also plays Paul Reed Smith. :)

  • its crazy how much of an influence to blues (a style he has nothing to do with) he has had.

  • @korgri if only could win some 'fans' maybe you'd quit hating. all those musicians your respect, respect JM. accept it.

  • @wiludall korgri doesn't hate JM, he's said so a number of times. I think korgri overdoes what he does, but it's meant to want to help...I think. From what I know of korgri, he is a musician himself. JM apparantly has a hard time listening when people try to give him signals like: don't say things that make you look stupid, it undermines the good stuff you do.

  • @korgri well millions of people lyk the way he screws the light bulb (mayer). and noone cares bout the other 3 who say they can do it better(the youtube haters). and who cares what he does wiht his personal life.. if he plays good music. he playes good music thats all. tiger woods is still a great golfer.. look what he did.

  • nice beat!!!!

  • yes - it is a Ray harles song. I sort of ike this version of it- but i think JM is a real jerk.

  • I am afraid it is... sorry

  • it is in tune. those bluesy 7 and 9 chords tend to sound dissonant to people with bad taste in music, so it's understandable that you would think so.

  • thank god someone knows what they are talking about. those 7 chords are sweeter than angel tears.

  • @NewMusicSpacequake don't talk shit, there is no "bad" taste, only a ill or shabby taste

  • Comment removed

  • @meesbroersen really? go listen to nickelback and ill shit my pants if you say theres no such thing as bad taste

  • @NewMusicSpacequake I wanted to thumps up you because you are totally right, I dislike musicians who just play crap. I'm a young musician and together with my friends we tend to make tastefull music. Its important to keep this kind of music, cause I wouldn't want to live in a world with just Punk and Lady Gaga, not saying it's bad or not fun, but not good and tastefull with a lot of talent.

  • @NewMusicSpacequake Haha wow you're a smug idiot.

  • @NewMusicSpacequake hahahah love this comment. I am glad to know there is that one percent of people on youtube that have some musical intelligence in what they say.

  • @NewMusicSpacequake damn smackdown on the haters. u just told them AND you kept John Mayer's name good.

  • NICE bass line !

  • Steve Jordan what a great groove!

  • just nice and easy!

  • I love guitar players that nobody knows talking shit about Mayer,,, it reminds me of a joke

How may guitar players does it take to screw in a light bulb?

    answer 4

One to do it, and three to say they could do it better...........

  • Good one

  • god you are so right.

  • How many guitar players does it take to cover an SRV song?

    ....Apparently, all of them.

  • thats good, but at least covering a SRV song is harder than screwing in a light bulb..

  • Im pretty sure this is a Ray Charles song

  • @TheDVDGamer Nice one , haha

    10/10

  • @TheDVDGamer You're a friggin comic collecting dork! Did you ask you mamma to watch a blues vid.

This kid is a bit of a joke. If one thing reminds me of a joke its a kid playing an axe that's actually older than he is!

  • @djangolad sorry sir I dont collect comics, I do however collect guitars, you should see my collection some time.

  • @TheDVDGamer lol

  • @TheDVDGamer I love that joke. I honestly admire any musician dedicated to their trade. John may be a jerk in real life but he can play his guitar and has great guitar tone

  • @TheDVDGamer man. so true. i think i'm gonna say this sentence at every party i'm going for the next 2 years. its full of win. you can apply this for everything, being a cynical bad guitarist is a way of life, my city is full of them. "Nana, clapton sux since the 70 blabla" "Na mayer is just fake blues blabla" "sorry dude knopfler is so out dated now" ... hahaha

  • @Luckool JM may play fake blues but the good part of what he does is introduce the blues to his pop fans, many of whom are adoloescent girls. It would be like Justin Bieber announcing he's gonna play the blues. It may not sound like it, but if any of (their) fans get interested they will seek out real blues players that they otherwise might not have known about. For this JM gets credit. I doubt Knopfler will ever go out of date, he plays in a timeless style.

  • @TheDVDGamer i heard that it was actually ten, one to do it and the other 9 to talk about how clapton would have done it better.

  • @Antonovich74 well I dont know how clapton would do anything better,

  • @TheDVDGamer you don't know much do you?

  • @Antonovich74 That is bloody brilliant.

BTW to all the Mayer<Clapton believers. Clapton was asked what he thinks about John Mayer and the first thing he said was 'He is a better guitarist than I'.

  • @maximu8899 Clapton may have said it but he is a humble man. SRV always said his brother Jimmy was better than he was though SRV had more technique and was faster Jimmy is a killer player but Stevie can out play him. i hate Mayer but i will admit he has some killer chops but Clapton is the white god of electric blues and though he may think he is not as good he can play circles around Mayer and every video i see of him and Mayer jamming he wipes the floor with him. he has a better touch and tone

  • @Soulshine59 You should watch the video of the two of them playing crossroads together on abc news. You may be right that Clapton is just being humble and lets John do his thing but compare the solos and see what you think.

  • @Soulshine59 Actually...this whole comparison thing is silly. They are both great artists and have their own styles. Its cool to see great musicians jam with each other and not have to be outdoing one another all the time. Statement Retracted!!

  • @TheDVDGamer lol... i like that joke... im a guitarist... nobodys heard of me... and i can say i wish i could screw in a light bulb as good as john mayer... he's a fantastic player... just too bad he's quite the douche bag... that seems to be the general view in my group of friends... which are mostly musicians, especially guitarists... anyone who says john mayer is a bad guitarist is just one of those shredders that have some sort of compensating issue. real guitarists can appreciate his music

  • @TheDVDGamer haha well put !!! I am stealing that joke thats awesome

  • @TheDVDGamer hahaha thats awesome, well put I am stealing that joke

  • @TheDVDGamer that joke really applies to every musician mr. ignorant

  • @TheDVDGamer That's why I'm a lead vocalist. How many lead singers does it take to screw in a light bulb? One, and the rest of the band. But he'll tell you he did it all himself and nobody would have heard of them if it weren't for him. :)

  • @TheDVDGamer Nice insight. Very good, and you are 100% correct.

  • @TheDVDGamer I know another one:

How may guitar players does it take to screw in a light bulb?

    2

    one to do it

and one to explain the drummer.

  • @Kalchi13 no, the second one tries to do it better than the first one

  • @TheDVDGamer plus 1 extra to watch john mayer fuck jennifer aniston, whilst bustin out a badboy blues boogie woogie?

  • It's realy music that you feel All kind of tipes through jazz blues He realy needs to feel it and he does That is why it's so easy for me to say He knows what he's doïng making music from out of his soul

  • Anyone know what guitar he is using?

  • @tucodcg gibson es335

  • it's eric clapton's '60's es335 that clapton gave to mayer as a gift a few years ago.

  • @quilicimusic

I don't think so... Eric auctioned off that 335 to raise money for his center in Antigua...nevertheless, Mayer's 335 has great tone

  • @PyrrhusIV ohh right. hmm. i guess it's not the 335 that Clapton used a bunch in his career, but this 335 was definitely a gift fro him to mayer.

  • @quilicimusic I wish Clapton could give me a 335 as a gift

  • john, pino and steve on fire!!!!!!! lo demás es puro cuento para que hablen los giles!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • These comments make me picture a herd of dorks surrounding artistic talent who have bullshit and pointless discussions which almost boil down to a simple difference in opinion. Rabble Rabble Rabble

  • idk what you are talking about jasagggio im an experienced drummer and bass player, and have taken many classes in music yes the ones you listed are very talented but i would include john mayer in a very high class of musicians

  • haha, look at the girl's face around 2:28......

  • Steve Jordan! I don't know the man, but my god what a musical drummer....and of course that groove...I am a beginning drummer so this is all new to me....I think I found the right guy!

Mayer gets big props from me for doing this kind of music and I like his personality ....great guitar tones....in time he will find the right rhythmic approach to soloing and will learn how to extract more juice from the lemon. For now is a "good" guitarist certainly not the best he can be yet
