  • I find it intresting most of the criticism is from white men. Especially White men from the SOUTH of all things.

  • yeeep, that's where the bigots are.

  • Six out of 8 of the rulings she wrote have been overturned by the Supreme court.

She may not be qualified and that makes her a danger to all sides of each issue.

  • I think you were factually incorrect with every part of this sentence.

She's been overturned 3 times. The SC has heard appeals 6 times. One of those hasn't been ruled on yet (Ricci). The typical SC overturn rate is 65-75%, so Sotomayor does better than her peers. She's written over 300 opinions in her career, so in reality her reversal rate is less than 1%

And merely being overturned doesn't make a judge good or bad. 100% of Scalia and Alito's opinions appealed to the SC were overturned!

  • correct

  • wrong!

  • What is next? Be creative. Let me help.

Sonia Sotomayor is a leader of an intergalactic conspiracy and it is going kidnap and eat all of us fine blond-haired God fearing Aryans.

    Sonia's mother wears army boots.

If you take Sonia's height in centimeters and multiply it by my aunt Fanny's bra size in inches, you come up with 666, the number of the beast. Obviously, Sonia is the antichrist.

Where do you people come from?

  • Why are you copy pasting your comment on every video

Those ridiculous comments are yours, not the GOP

So the questions should be, Where is naresh0131 from?

  • curt levey's a moron! He's so self-serving and so delusional it's incredible. This clown has no idea what he's talking about. Sotomayor is as much of an intellectual heavyweight as anyone on the Supreme Court. scalia is the one who's an intellectual penny weight. He's always touted as a great genius when he can't tell his head from his ass.

Sonia Sotomayor will be appointed anyway. The gop is so desperate they'll seize on anything now since America has rejected them entirely. The gop is RIP!

  • i mean intellectually shes no george bush i guess... o wait. he got owned by the bitch reference tho

  • The case they make is the dumbest case to make. She's got 10 years of Federal Appeals Court experience, beside graduating Summa Cum Laude at Princeton. The whole idea of her not being qualified or "an intellectual heavyweight" is bullshit.

Sure, there's the bonus of the identity politics angle for Democrats, but she's obviously qualified.

Her "racist" quote too is completely out of context. What she says is that if she's not careful, her identity can hurt her ability as easily as help

  • Being an Ivy League grad really doesn't say much anymore. Afterall, our last 4 (incl. current) presidents were Ivy League grads and each has made severe, costly mistakes based on ideology ingrained into them at Ivy League schools.

Add to that, most of those failing banks and corporations are run by Ivy League grads, I'm not thinking they have a great track record.

Her opinions read like 1L exam papers.

  • Right Ted, in yesterday's post you were a law school student. Now you are an Ivy League Graduate??? You live in Fucking VEGAS were UNLV is one of the lowest ranked Universities in the Country!!!! You seem to be FULLl OF SHIT!!!!

  • I never said I'm an Ivy-League grad, only that I'm glad I'm not.

UNLV is a top 80 ranked law school, higher than most law schools in the nation and routinely ranks in the top 5 in National Competitions (writing, moot court, etc.)

What's more, we teach/learn law without the political indoctrination in failed ideas that you get at Ivy-League schools.

  • As a Dem. and for the most part a 'liberal', I have to say that Im not overly happy with Sotomayor - I think the right actually has a case to make against her appointment.

Im fed up with identity politics.

  • Watching the Republican party right now is like watching a bunch of drunks commit suicide very slowly.

  • thumbs up for lolz

  • vet her

  • Sotomayor is a doodoohead, I don't have any evidence to back that up, or any examples, or any concrete logical reasons, but she's a doodoohead, just because she graduated at the very top of her class at Princeton doesn't exempt her from being a doodoohead, because she is in fact, a doodoohead, end of debate, I win

  • I have an anonymous source that just told me that Curt Levey just fabricated this anonymous source out of thin air to support his agenda. I can't tell you who this anonymous source is though, but he does exists........

  • what an asshole

  • Wow, so are people actually implying that Bush and Palin weren't the brightest individuals?

    What an enlightening finding! Fucktard.

Supreme Court nominee should be picked b/c his/her interpretation of the law matches the slant of the ruling party, not because of his/her IDENTITY.

Yes her background is inspiring (and if you LISTEN to Obama - his primary reason for choosing her!) but that belongs in a Disney movie - and not used to turn the Court into another Obama PR stunt...oh wait, oops.

  • Maybe Obama should have picked a candidate that didn't attend those 'elitist' schools like Princeton or Yale.

A school without all the glitz and prestige of an Ivy League university.

A school for the common person.

A school that would not make the Republicans and talking heads feel inferior.

    Some place like Liberty University.

Or the back of a matchbook.

    Or Whassamatta U.

  • You are my hero.....lmol

  • curt levey is an ignorant racist tool. he's great for Democrats because he shows conservatards for what they are

  • L A M E

  • Question to the Republicans out there.....

You're concerned about a Supreme Court judge being an "Intellectual Heavyweight".....

However, do you feel that label could have been applied to your Vice presidential nominee?

Shit.... could you have described President Bush that way?

If you say yes to either of those.... you yourself are no "intellectual heavyweight".

  • a republican intellectual? huh? what? where? sometime in the 60s? what an oxymoron.

  • republicans being stupid, ill-informed, partisan dicks? where is the news here?

  • from Bush to Palin

and suddenly intellect is important. lol.

if this weren't about racism & sexism, they world have just talked about her qualifications & experience. but instead they say things "she's loud". that argument is a great example of an intellectual heavyweight in action. this is sarcasm in case any puerto rican woman are reading this.

  • So Republicans are saying that women are inferior in intelligence. What's new?

  • she graduated with 3 different honors from princeton and was the fucking editor of the YALE LAW JOURNAL. how is she not intellectual? who was the last GOP nominee to have such honors? sure as hell wasnt roberts...

  • GOPiece of shit

  • I like how these assholes want "intellectual heavyweights" for this position. Aren't they always raving about how snobbishly intellectual democrats are?

  • He's not suggesting, he's plainly saying that she was picked ONLY because she was a latina... that's disgusting!

Also, why is anyone making quick desicions about Sonia, when no one has given her a chance to speak on the issues.

  • Viva Sonia!

  • i believe joe biden said about thomas he was picked solely because of race. i guess that makes him a race baiter too right?. what ever happened to him,,,,,,?

  • Funny that intellect is suddenly an issue with the GOP.

This IS the party that rallied behind Sarah Palin right?

  • She is a racist sexist . She said that her opinion is superior to a white man's. Does that mean her's is better than a Black man's or a Black woman's also. Her flaws are Obama's flaws and she should withdraw.

  • "She said that her opinion is superior to a white man's. "

Wow, that is completely not what she said. Fake News is taking that quote way out of context. I would suggest you actually read the full quote, especially the "who hasn't lived that life" part.

  • so if it looks like a racist, talks like a racist, and acts like a racist, it's not a racist because she's a Demorat opps, Democrat.

  • You can read her ENTIRE speech in the NY Times from May 14th. She was specifically referring to a wise latinas judgments in cases of racial and sexual discrimination being better than those of a wise white man who hasn't experienced those things.

It was part of the Justice Mario Olmos memorial lecture addressing the benifits of having people of color in the justice system.

Now please stop screaming racism, you make yourself look retarded.

  • but you are not retarded because you believe the NY Times, a failing tool of the left. How retarded is it to drink that cool-aid?

  • The MSNBC correspondent did a great job in this segment. He's a fool, and she did a great job putting him on display.

  • Frankly, I think the MSM is feeling LIBERATED after 20 or 30 years of Stockholm Syndrome, and being intimidated by the conservative attack machine with their baseless whines about the liberal media.

  • Yes...I loved the way she handed his @ss to him! :-)

  • OMG. So they pick based on race and gender? what a fucking JOKE!

  • She's a woman, Hispanic, and well

qualified for the job...GOP should know that it's possible to be ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!

  • Well said.

  • This guy is a twat. They're naysaying another one of Obama's choices. SHE GRADUATED SUMMA CUM LAUDE! How did this guy graduate? Not an intellectual heavyweght my ass...

  • It goes to show just how intellectually bankrupt the GOP is if they claim she is not intelligent.

They are pissed because she is not a white male who is a religious zealot and thinks women do not deserve privacy over their own bodies. PERIOD!

  • No..your are wrong...the R.I.P. ex gop party are "filled" with intellectual heavy weighters

  • HA great point by monica "temperment problems" = "she's a bitch"

  • We've already seen pretty much all they've got for the attack points.

    1. She's not "smart enough" (Translation: Got a free pass to Princeton and Yale because she was a minority...quotas, "reverse discrimination" blah blah...)

    2. Temperment problems (-she's a WOMAN. Hormones...bitchy...emotionally unstable...PMS..)

    3. "Activist Judge" (Duke University remark.)

    4. Socialist (Princeton yearbook quote)

Be prepared for two months of this during the confirmation hearings. No big deal.

  • The news anchor made him eat shit.

  • Yeah she did... bravo!

  • You watch way to much FOX News!! LOL!

The fact is the GOP is mad because she is not a White Male Christian Fundamentalist who is opposed to women's right to choose, PERIOD!

  • Obama couldn't have made a better pick. He knew any nomination would be challenged by the republican dogs of war. By choosing such a highly capable judge with huge experience and a perfect record, the republicans will only dig there own hole with their petty attacks, looking more interested in politics and games then contents and good government. Feed these guys a perfect steak and theyll throw it away demanding meat. To bad for them there other, hungry people at the table.

  • there are too many perfectly qualified people for the SCOTUS. with the general knowledge of the law prereqs down(which she obviously has), it's reasonable to take gender and race into consideration

  • "not an intillectual heavy weight"? really even considering her education and experiance? bullshit.

The woman who conducted that interview was pretty good. She let the guy dig a hole for himself then she buried him.

  • i love it when news people (do they count as journalists?) call others out on their bullshit. the lady from msnbc did fairly well letting him explain himself, then bringing up the obvious rebuttal.

  • I liked this interviewer. Quite effective and not rude or annoying like most cable types.

  • I'm still number one losers.

  • They can't show any one on the record

  • we rule based on law that is objective, not based on opinion. she was picked because of her distinguished qualifications and strong resume and not for her opinions.

  • NOT QUALIFIED?!?! She graduated at the top of her class in law school!! She was editor of the Yale University at Yale. If she's not qualified, nobody is.

  • If this is all it takes to be considered "qualified" why not just stop while you are ahead after graduation.

Take a look at how things really work in the world and get back to us.

  • Who is the woman doing the interview? I don't recall seeing her before. She did a good job of letting her guest speak, but still pointing out the absurdity of what he was saying. Three people do not constitute a consensus, indeed.
