How very sad. Only just read that June passed away in 2006. What a fantastic group. She had a truely great voice and what a loss to the family. Love to you all. R.I.P. June.
For anyone who takes live performances for granted, this is how it's done. There aren't many artists, certainly in the charts, that could come anywhere near this these days.
Vocal brilliance... and I'm predominantly into rock.
wow..they are wearing their "Baby come and get it" clothes....June was soooo sexy! Something about her...the voice, the legs, I will always love her.....I just wish I would have met her....I wish I would have been more assertive in meeting her.....it is hard cuz she is gone now.
what i loved about the Pointer Sisters is that fans of almost every genre-disco, hip hop, r & b, rock and roll, new wave, etc. all digged them. I mean this performance at the Montreux Golden Rose Rock Festival '85 was primarily for the new wave/pop acts at the time, and yet the Pointer Sisters tore down the house as always. Great find!
In my opinion, two things make The Pointer Sistes one of the most fabulous acts of all time: firstly, the variety of music that they have performed, always succesfully, from gospel to disco, an unbelievable achievement. Secondly, the amazing vocal abilities of each girl, whether it was lead, or backing. This live performance is a proof of what I mean. Thanks for uploading.
When this song came out, I bought the 45 and played it so much I wore the damn grooves out. The Pointer sisters have great voices, no doubt, but there's something about this beat and the instrumentals that literally gave me goose bumps! Hearing it now, 23 years later, it still has the same effect.
I love them, they were close with Sylvester and sung with him to in the early days in the bay area.Miss Boy George getting her dance off backstage werk bitch!
hello Guru, i remember that wonderful song from the Pointer sister's 'Party in Paris video on CBC Television, on the same video was Anita's Leading " SLOW HAND' i love that, can you post it for me
The Pointer Sisters were the greatest live act in the history of pop music. Electrifying, sensual to the max, sexy, and exciting! And oh, what powerful, ringingly-clear pipies they had! Only ABBA could match them. I saw the Pointers live in South Lake Tahoe in 1986. They tore the place up! You couldn't help but want to dance. And they circulated in the audience, hugging practically everyone and thanking everyone for coming. You wanted to marry all three all on the spot.
Great comment! I have to agree with almost everything you said! Who these days can match their performance, talent, live sound quality, and stage presence?
Ironically June and Bonnie formed a duo naming it Pointers, a pair, after a few months they talked, Anita, the one with the best personality, into joining them, then a few months later Ruth was invited to join, there was never a set lead singer the took turns
A poor family whose mother and father were Church of God ministers, the girls sang in their father's gospel quire, and helped the family with their earnings, eventualy buying them a house in Brentwoood, June was raped at 16 when she was walking home from practice, this is when her cocaine habit started
Evidently you never attended a live show with the Pointer Sisters, 'cause that would surely change your mind 4ever. These women sing like no one does today.
Just listen to all these so called pop stars- uuhh!!
There's some lyrics from this sampled into some really popular techno / electronica tracks. "Baby make your move, step across the line, touch me one more time". Sounds awesome. I love the original too
I am happy you posted this. I am irritated that damn youtube deleted the original video. Record companies, how much airtime does this get outside of youtube? Heaven forbid, the exposure might do you some good. Grow up! Let us enjoy the artists we love.

I remember the Music video to this song,
the lead singer walks into a Gym flled
with guys working out, and she taunts them to
dare her,and after her training scene. She beats one of the guys in a boxing ring.
