However, if we look at time points on the deficit curve, we see Bush taking over in 2000 at 5.62 trillion debt and leaving in 2008 with 9.98 trillion debt, an increase of 4.36 trillion in 8 years. Obama took over and debt for 2010 is now 14.45 trillion, an increase 4.47 trillion in 2 years.
