I had the distinct pleasure of playing guitar in two seperate productions of this show. Once just out of college. The other it worked out well that I could quit my job to do the second production and after it was done, start a new, better job. Providence!!! I hope someday I can do this once more. It's such a hauntingly beautifull peice. Whomever posted this, your cast did a stellar job!!!
I'm currently in this and today we read through/mock-blocked act II. I'm playing Judas and am offstage at this point, so I didn't sing this. But, when I was offstage, I listened to everyone on stage singing this and I can honestly say I have never been moved so much by a piece of musical theatre music. There is SO MUCH meaning to this piece and I cannot explain how moving it is to be a part of this cast and portray this amazing message to the public. I love this song SOOO MUCH.
@58donthate i played the part of jesus. it was near impossible to finish this song with out tears. doesn't matter if your religious or believe in god but this is one of the most moving musicals to be a part of
AMAZING! I've always loved this haunting melody. The harmonies give me goosebumps and bring tears to my eyes. This is THE MOST beautiful version i've ever heard. I'm going to play it for a Bible study class - we're studying the period of the Babylonian exile - Psalm 137, Ezekiel, Isaiah. I notice that the lyrics occur at Matthew 26:20-30 - the Last Supper...
Choice song from a classic, nicely done.
