@iNf3rNuSdI4bLuS1 I'm with you man. It's due to the relationship between ignorance and fear. If people see things they don't understand those things scare them.
I'm doing a 2004 1.7 if I line up all of the marks and put a new timing belt on it should be ok right?? Thank you for posting the video!! they are handy
to briansmoblie1 suggestion next time just take the starter off and jam the fly wheel with a big socket then support ur extensions with a jack stand from ur braking bar to the bolt no heating needed time wise 30 minutes do that to all hondas harmonic balancers
@hectorbetanzos82 That is high risk high reward. Another high risk high reward method is to support the breaker bar and socket and then hit the starter momentarily. Thanks for sharing that here.
Thanks for the video. my huge hang-up was the harmonic balancer bolt. I used a MAPP tourch and a 1/2 impact took about 4 hours heat and beat. I would recomend this step first so that you know you can get it. Pull the wheel get that bolt loose first. If you can't get it your car is not laied up while you find a solution.
@idkfrofro I don't own a Civic. I drive a Cummins Turbo diesel. It does pretty good on gas too. I also have a CBR F4i it's even better on gas. It's silly to use something that's 4.8 tons to haul you around when something 0.1875 tons will do the job and is more fun.
Think about it, Brian, idkfrofro drinks 2 liters of soda at a time. He's probably one seriously fat fucking retard... He probably DOES need something that's 4.8 tons to haul his retarded ass around... ;)
@uraijit Even if he is. I'll still show him respect and try to teach what I can. If you exercise your whit to offend some one they won't listen to you any more. And then there's one more idiot to worry about in the world who is now your enemy. If you show an idiot respect for listening then before long they are neither your enemy nor an idiot. ; )
I dunno, he seems to be to be within about 10 IQ points of being a full-blown window licker... ;)
Good for you, for treating him nicely, even though he treated you like crap! Kudos. I'd hang out with ya! Probably not a two-way street there though, because I take a different approach. I seek to educate the idiots with the blunt object of cold, hard, reality... ;)
@uraijit I've had my days of violence, rebukes, and conflict. I was right, I was proud, I wasn't happy and always had to look over my shoulder. Thanks.
@idkfrofro Because treatment of diabetes is SO much more profitable than preventing it. Therefore corn and sugar producers are subsidized to increase production of the sugar water you drink while making it cost less to you. The engine is smaller because people demand more power and less fuel consumption. To accomplish this the compression ratio is increased by employing an interference engine, timing belt, fuel injection, egr valve, and a more aggressive cam and coil over plug ignition.
That's new news to me. I never thought a bad alt can fry the computer. Thought it would just drain the battery. Thanks again. My alt is long over due then. 200k with original alt
@83budda You bet. If the alt. fails it wipes out the computer $750 key program $60 Alternator $150 ELD $50. It's cheaper to just be super careful and replace the Alternator at 125K miles.
@83budda Make sure to get the alternator belt tension and and bolts tight. You may also want to replace the alternator at the same time. The circuits are protected from shorts to ground but NOT from an alternator that overcharges. Slipping belt can cause this as well as internals coming apart inside.
hey my husband and i followed you step by step got the job done but have created more problems than we had. the entire motor is shaking horribly where ae before it didnt...also the battery ie now dead could we have messed up putting the altnator on wrong or belt.....last but not least it feels like its not getting as much power when driving....we have no idea what to do...please help.
@xosamixo1989 The belt is MOST LIKELY off 1-3 teeth. Some rare outliers (statistics) are an unplugged cam sensor, or the worst case scenario is an alternator belt that wasn't tight enough. If your alternator overcharges it will make your tachometer not work, the temp gauge not work and the green key on the cluster flash. Make sure the alternator belt is tight by tightening it until you can twist it on it's longest run 90 degrees or quarter turn and NO more than that. Let me know what U find
Brian great video......I have a Problem, I had the dealer do the water pump and belt. I now have an oil leak. Oil drips from the underside of the timing case at the curve of the crank. Your video shows a oil free case. I am wondering where the oil would come from. Is there a weep hole in the case? If so it might be a seal. Could the valve cover gasket be the problem? Any ideas? TIM
Go to Home Depot/Lowes, they usually have loads of LED flash lights, I got 8 for $15 bucks, that's right...and they all work and quite bright too. I try to save money so I can't afford high tech anything.
And, after watching how lengthy it was to replace this water pump, I'm so glad my tiny Toyota was easier to manage than this one, kudos...good vid.
When you use a light for video, a large, close light source gives way better soft lighting that keeps everything illuminated, with fewer hot spots. Those rechargeable multi-LED trouble lights you can buy are great, if you remember to take them off the vehicle before the customer drives away (don't laugh, it's easy to do). When the light source is large, you don't get the sharp deep shadows or bright spots that are often seen with normal flashlights. Great job, Brian.
$50 Bluepoint Pen Light, brighter than any other light I've had (Even better than some "multi-bulb" Led lights I've had). Cringed at the idea of spending 50 F***n dollars on a penlight, but it was worth every penny.
Someone's been giving me a thumbs down too. Arghh childish unless you really don't like my vids. Which Im like you. If you don't like it that's cool just let me know so I can try and make it better next time.

@83budda The trouble comes from overcharging. If the belt slips the demand for juice kicks up. This can also happen if the alt shorts internally.
