Mao Asada was too much overscored, as she is usually overscored with that Bells program. Very weak flow out of her 3a, face-slapping, no lutz, no salchow, no 3-3, very weak landing on her triple-combo, nearly tripped and singled a triple-toe, I mean c'mon, that? was worth second place? And she didn't smile on the podium- what bad manners for a supposedly "polite" Japanese girl. Many girls would kill for a medal- Mao acted like a spoiled brat.

@ZarathuPower I personally don't think that Zhang is really a rival of anyone right now. She really isn't anything to be proud of. Her jumps? Those are terrible. She has no height on them. When she does her triple Lutz, her foot comes above her head and she pounds her toepick into the ice and still can't land it half the time. She's a slow skater as well. All she has is flexibility. Nagasu, yes, she is a rival but not Zhang.

I am SO GLAD that Mirai did not get a medal. She is bratty and ugly and the quality of her skating is nowhere near that of Kim, Asada and Rochette. Mirai was lucky to get 4th. I'd have had her no higher than 7th.

4 of her 7 jumps in LP were incomplete. She robbed of the medal from the American girl Mirai Nagasu.

Asada Mao did NOT complete any real triple axels, sorry.

She has half a turn before she leaves the ice and another half turn after she lands. Clearly not a 3A. The judges seriously didn't catch this? Wow!

I read somewhere that Mao Asada even invited the judges and the coaches to japan before the olympics to get some 'advices'(???), it just shocked me about how Japan was prestigious.

Mao earned her silver medal despite what people may say, but I'm not sure that Joannie earned that bronze. Her skating was inspirational given her situation, but I think had they scored Mirai fairly her final score would have been better than Joannie's. That's okay tho b/c Mirai did what she needed to do: made the judges take notice of her. Hopefully they won't cheat her out of her PCS anymore...

@herm712 I do agree that Mirai performed superbly, that she was expected to be standing on the podium. As you said, I am sure that she caught the attention's of the judges, but judges were determined to give a medal to Joannie. We didn't see such sentiments of the judges in the two olymic games prior when Michelle Kwon, who was olympic gold medals hopeful, didn't win gold at the sudden appearance of Tara Lapinski and when out of ordinary performance was displayed by Sara Huges.

Mao received more marks than she deserve this time. She is an excellent skater, but she obviously didn't do very well at her FS in Olympic. I can't believe Mao scored 205 with her lousy FS when she skipped a triple combination. I personally think Yuna -1st, Joanne-2nd, and Nagasu-3rd. Miki deserves 4th and Mao deserves 5th.
