olawoye1@yahoo.com SUNNY I love your music before & afther you came to USA in the early 70's You are one of the best music ian in Africa, i am proud of you. many people like your music, pls no retirement yet may God give you the strenght to continue for people still love your music. and they are exxpecting your new album for this year 2010.
It is one of the early Sunny tide...the talking drum came on saying...omo adeniyi o de. Eniti an wi o de. It is on the Youtube as King Sunny Ade-Sunny Ade (Audio). Classical Sunny Ade and great song.
@princessadekunbi1 This is not the song, there is one that was very popular in the early 90s. I have it on tape that I dubbed but don't know the title of it. But I know the beginning of the song goes
to my mind, white people who play our drums in a respectful manner are better than black people who deny their african heritage with a lot of junk about being descended from egyptians, moors, medieval monks and such garbage including being the descendants of spaceship dwellers! .. the woman who single-handedly preserved the ifa shrine in ogbomosho was a german . genunine interest rather than patronising condecension is better any day of the week, month or yr in africa ..
Youre free to express your concerns; however, are you certain that some group of people are better than others? In other words, how did you measure it, and what were the criteria? Clearly, youve demonstrated two conflicting views. On the one hand, youre against people who deny their cultural heritage and on the other hand, you supports people who deny their cultural heritage given the premise of your post. You could examine the similarity between the two groups.
No other instrument can replace the talking drum in yoruba music. They can experiment with, sax, etc but the talking drums in the hands of a traditionalist is awesome.
absolutely, i have been playing the talking drum for alittle while and i have a teacher plus my many years listening to KSA. its coming along and i have impressed those who are nigerian who have heard this geeky white guy play thier dun dun in a respectful manner. This album is KSA's BEST
Ive listened to and own a few of his albums, from the classic years to the album Ase'. What i love about this one is the production quality (island records has done much for afro pop artists as well as reggae) This album just speaks to me, which is why i also call this Album "The Gospel of KSA". I also feel this album is his best for personal reasons, first heard this album during a brief happy time in my childhood, not to mention all the KSA concerts i have been to. I am also a Talking drummer
