  • can you go a little slower on the first few notes? the ones that are on the a and e strings like the very first ones the strings that you play are a e a a e a a e a a e a a

im a little confused on that and i cant make it sound like yours even though ive been trying everyday for hours and hours and yet no progress :(

    Thanks! :)

  • @Analiketika411 Those are the right strings. Here is the fingering: 1 0 1 1 2 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1. Here are the notes: b e b b g# b b f# b b g g# b b. The first e is the first note of the measure.

  • Sir, with the help of postings like yours, I have begun to learn to play fiddle. As we know, when learning something by sheet music only, As an amateur, it is hard to grasp the rhythm, mood, technique and meter of the songs. There is a frustration factor with formal lessons as learning is delivered at a pace without the advantages of Stop/Pause/Rewind which I disparately need. Keep up the wonderful postings. There would be no harm in accepting tips through PayPal as your lessons help me greatly.

  • VERY GOOD! !

    THANK YOU

  • Hey dude, it looks like your version of McMaster-Carr is outdated!

  • this is awesome! what bowing would you recommend using?

  • @928ROSIE For the most part.... Bow every note on the A section, then do a long-short pattern on the B section.

  • @JohnsFiddleLessons-thanks! i see what you mean. the lesson is super helpful!

  • Thanks very much. Was wanting to learn this tune and thanks to you I have.

  • Thanks for this! This is one of my favorite tunes on "Another Gem." Have picked up my fiddle after a few years absence, am re-learning the few tunes I knew, and will be launching into this one with your assistance! Excellent.

  • Beautiful!

  • Brilliant u got talent!

  • I play this tune all the time on my whistle :) It was great learning both keys on my fiddle~ Thanks, John :)

  • Very nice, 5 stars

  • Thank you so much for sharing this song- it is very beautiful and I had never hear it before. Ive almost got it down thanks to your lesson. If you have any other Scottish or Irish (Celtic in general) songs float into your head, feel encouraged to share them, they're a lot of fun to play. Thanks again for taking the time to teach us!
