  • why cant you buy this dvd in the united states fuckn paypall sucks

  • can he play like that without distortion?

  • looks lik craig mabbit lol

  • ahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of heads and cabinets behind him.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is the red bean at right??????????????? ahahahahahhh YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH POD forever. =P

  • Very nice neo-classical :)

  • Where can I get these DVD's?

  • @SonOfOdinn45 if you go to our official website, just click 'shop' and all our DVDs and other items are there!

  • The Read Priest is wonderful guitar playing but I would have liked to hear it in a sweeter tone without so much distortion. As clean as his playing is the distortion just kills the nuances. I cant hardly hear any notes over the chainsaw buzzing sound. A Vinnie Moore tone would have been perfect.

  • norifumi shima and batio are pretty sick neoclassical players and way more original than joe not to say that joes bad.

  • what's the name of the piece??????????? (in final of video)

  • i was just starting to get into it, then it ended. what was that song? did he say? i watch again, i guess. i love that song, great tone also.

  • @tthhhhp the red priest or something along those lines. its good eh? lol

  • i have 1 question the dvd have tabs?

  • @fenixricardez Yes you can download and print the tabs after purchase. Everything is tabbed out.

  • he is melmsteen's brother or something?!?! the look the same

  • malmsteen is boring....but joe is fun

  • I reckon Joe should play Yngwie's signature strat, he'd love it

  • @EvoPogo he owns a bunch of them, but i reckon his custom esp snappers are a tad better

  • he is not like yngwie, hes pretty similar, beacause its a neoclassical guitar player but his riffs are so much different, and the solos are even more explosive than yngwie.

i love the neoclassical electric guitar

  • Shit hot!!!

  • lol i agree total wanna be yngwie i mean he even has a strat the same color as yngwie and it has all scalloped frets rofl

  • Has Malmsteen ever commented on this guy. I am betting he could'nt resist it.

  • @stevegrierson I've wondered the same thing.

  • lol can u say wanna be? lol but he is good no doubt.. he needs his own style tho

  • VEVALDI!!!! XD

  • hes wearing a WIG!!! no joke

  • That chord sequence is totally a rip off Dio's "Don't talk to Strangers" ... Disappointment.

  • @MrKylerRobinson

Amen, it couldn't get more obvious than this. Regardless, Joe Stump is a great guitarist.

  • @MrKylerRobinson and bark at the moon

  • shred on!!!

  • BASTAN!

  • is it snowing where u are joe

  • What guitar is it ?

    Che chitarra è ?

  • its a custom made ESP, like an esp snapper, with scalloped board, and hs3/yjm pickups

  • thx i've seen it on google, it looks like a fender stratocaster but its sound is totally different :/

  • When did Yngwie Malmsteen and Nikki Sixx have a baby?

  • lmaoo

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! BEST FUCKING CAMENT IN 5 YEARS OF YOUTUBE!!!!! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHH

  • coment

  • @Manowar4life1234

i swear there is no other yngwie copy out there that speaks the same, looks the same and sounds the same as yngwie oO

ridiculous if you ask me :D

  • @Manowar4life1234 AJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA

  • man total wanna be yngwie malmsteen haha.

  • well, he does teach at Berklee...

  • I like his lead tone..... but when he plays rhythm it sounds really bad

  • let's settle this. PAUL GILBERT IS THE BEST.

  • @fenderstrat6485 petrucci ;)

  • depends on how you look at it...technique is different.

  • @fenderstrat6485 i don't think so.. Jason Becker is the best ever!

  • @robbperz He's up there.

  • @fenderstrat6485 Seriously, Paul Gilbert is my idol as well, but it's god damn unnecessary to spam something like this on a page unrelated to Gilbert. It's okey to state an opinion but you are just provoking others with your fanboy mind, which tells people that you are immature and shouldn't even be posting at all

  • @fenderstrat6485 ... SOOOOO RIGHT ahahahahahahah

  • joe stump plays well, but i prefer the actual classical music as opposed to his. i think neoclassical is really hard to play [and i applaud you guys who can] but with the whole speed idea you kinda lose some musicality, ya know?

  • No. I sure don't know.

  • potevano fare l'intervista a Yngwie che ha tutto un altro tocco, altro che questo caccia-palle!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nick'83 da Bologna

  • I Want to play like he :)

  • Como se titula el tema del segundo ejemplo, cuando aparece el banner de Check put bla bla???

  • The dude can play, but this has ALL been done before - Hell, he even had the Yngwie "pout" at one stage there! And whatz with all the amp heads/jewellery? Im seeing "poser/wanker" here... Give me someone like Vinnie Moore anyday - THAT dude is better than Malmsteen AND this guy! Not only does he have more variety, but Im willing to bet this guy just stole most of Vinnie's lesson material anyway for his DVD - The 1st exercise here was featured on Vinnie's first instructional video - check it out!

  • i took lessons with joe hes insane at guitar

  • ynwie malmsteen wannabe he like talks like ynwie plays like ynwie dresses like ynwie! get a own style!!!!!

  • he was b4 yngwie man

  • still wannabe

  • Take a look on Joe's website. Yngwie is one of his main influence. As Al di Meola, Ritchie Blackmore, Hendrix etc.

  • bullshit

  • yes my grandmother can rape him..

  • Agreed, fucking clones... and Malmsteen was a clone of Blackmore anyway! Check the clothing, the guitars, the stances - what the fuck ever happened to people being original these days?!

  • this guy has the personality of a wet mop.

  • I'm sure he's never had to move his hand up and down so many times in his life!

  • existe diferencia etre este y yngwie malsteen..es decir..los 2 son gordos, tocan los mismos patrones, usan las mismas guitarras...en fin

  • Indeed R.I.P. Shawn Lane. He was truly a gift from god.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually the first part IS pedal tone...I'm sure that he knows what he's talking about. I find it really hard to believe that you haven't heard of this before. From classical music to Yngwie to Joe...it's called pedal tones....

  • actually this is a pedal tone

there is a different between a pedal (which u said) and a pedal "tone"

a pedal tone is harmonising off of one chord using notes of the scale

it does not have to be in unison, hell it can even be inverted

  • people should listen to his piece 'texas chainsaw boogie' he can play a great blues which is something malmsteen cant do. and it seems most people who say he's copying malmsteen dont say the same about dragonforce. have a good listen . what about randy rhoades? vinnie moore? racer x? lets go back to blackmore. either way he is doing what he wants and not conforming to trends while being deverse. anyone who has joes entire catalogue and still says he is not diverse should give it a second listen

  • if u can play neo-classical shreds. or straight up classical stuff..who cares if u can play the blues or not.

  • anyone who classes themselves as a musician wants to be deverse so thats who cares if they can play the blues. come to a lectureof mine in the music course i run or if not look up some journals . start with classical music for dummies it is a great and funny read . and a good place for people to start and try to understand what is music.

  • _\ m /

  • Yngwie WIN 100% :D

  • Yngwie vs. Joe Stump!!! Who wins???

Yngwie is the original, Joe is the fag...

  • Joe is not a clone of Yngwie.

I love the REAL Maestro, but Joe is not a clone.

  • Yngwie isnt the original. He made neo classical popular but he didnt pioneer it. Schekner, blackmore, uli jon roth, randy rhaods, steve moorse maybe im not too sure. But THOSE are the pioneers of the genre. They laid down the foundation of it which if they werent there yngwie wouldve had no body to absorb from and come out this showman for a genre.

  • Yea Joe play style like Speed metal and Malmsteen play Renesanc rock.

  • Awesome, why you all compare him to Malmsteen these are two different styles.

I see Joe is playing through a line6 Pod see it back there peeps.

    I like them both,

  • lol good players copy, great players steal, joe sounds amazing playing what he likes best

  • come on...sorry, but how are you copy Yngwie's tone and phrasing and then think you are doing something original? Isn't originality the most important thing?

His technique IS flawless though, would love to hear him doing his own thing...

  • The neoclassical music belongs to bach vivaldi albonini and the other ORIGINAL classical composers. Joe and Yngwie have very similiar music but, for the record my friend, joe is older than yngwie and has been doing this longer.

  • actually neoclassical is the music that has been made famous mainly by guitarists like joe and yngwie that is based upon baroque or classical music by composers such as bach and vivaldi... common mistake. but yeah, Joe did this before Yngwie, yngwie is just more well known

  • about the first thing i said. i meant that the two depend on them very much so the music in a sense is "neither of theirs."

  • that is true, but classical on rock guitar was never really done like that. now if someone comes along and does EXACTLY what you're doing, and has massive success with it, wouldn't you look for something else? At least another way to do it that doesn't sound like a rip off?

  • u speak the truth. thanks. but i think u get what im trying to say.

  • Joe is good, but I still like Yngwie better.

  • how cool is this 3:38

  • "this baroque style lick ..... Bach, Vivaldi..."

oh please Joe ........ you heard this for the first time on "I'll See The Light Tonight" just like the rest of us .......

admitting is the first step to recovery. :)

    but nice playing anyway

    just admit it

  • haha, thats so true, even his tone is the same

  • haha so true, this guy probably thought Bach was the singer from skid row before hearing malmsteen

  • Why dont you say that to his face at the school he teaches at in boston, MA Berklee. His job is enlightening guitarists and using his skill to teach. He knows his shit about guitar even when it comes to theory. I havent seen yngwie do anything like that before. Except have a fucking attitude and act like hes god of guitar when he doesnt compare shit to true virtuosos like lets say guthrie govan.

  • You're right, obviously he can play guitar and knows what he's talking about, but for better or worse, other guys have gotten popular with this style FIRST, so people will just say that Joe is copying.

Why bother continuing in that genre with the same tone and everything, especially someone as talented as Joe, he could easily do something different that no one else has touched upon.

For the record, I don't care much about Yngwie either, I just wanna hear this guy do other things.

  • Joe is at a disadvantage since all the yngwie fan boys or anyone new to the genre will just hear neo classical from anybody and just think yngwie. Hes like the metallica of neo classical the guy everyone knows that has anything to do with it. But you can still be a great neo classical guitarist like stump here and get some where

  • Joe Stump is cool but i always feel it's just like watching Yngwie in a different body

  • I agree there are alot of shredders that sound like Yngwie.

  • and thats not a bad thing

  • sounds like instructions for masturbation if you don't watch the video...haha fuckin hilarious

  • joe plays really nice here, maybe he copies some of yngwie's elements , like the strat with the pu's and the marshall amps and so on, but i must say i like his tone even more than yngwie's and ygwie's tone is already very good.

  • "Stump is a Malmsteen clone.

I like both, but seriously: He has the same licks, nearly the same guitar with scalloped frets and the same sound!"

    True. Almost identical technique too.

"Joe is a great guitar player, period"

    Also true

  • Emo yngwie! \m/

  • HAHAHA!

  • Joe Stump sounds cool lol

  • guitars werent even invented till like the 60's or 70's so you cant say malmsteen copies him

  • What are you talking about?

  • Classical guitars were invented a long time ago.

  • "Stump is a Malmsteen clone."

That's idiotic, Do you honestly believe that Malmsteen invented those licks? Most of those arpeggios and pedal tones have been around since the late 1600s.

Joe is a great guitar player, period,

  • It's true those lick's are 1600's bach riff's..But the

bottem line is he's straight up malmsteen sounding...Vinnie moore play's the greatist hit's

    lick's from 1600's..But he doesn't sound like yngwie...You hear simularities...But you know

    it's not yngwie....

  • nah...joe rocks!!

  • Stump is a Malmsteen clone.

I like both, but seriously: He has the same licks, nearly the same guitar with scalloped frets and the same sound!

    A bit too much ;P

  • all yngwie licks..

  • DUDE!!THIS is awesome!!JOE STUMP SHREDS and he is an awesome showman!!

  • Come on guys! You can't say that the style he plays is only Yngwie's. I love Yngwie's music but it's based on CLASSICAL motifs and techniques.

We don't say that Yngwie sux because he's such a Paganini rip off do we? Yngwie got his style from others too.

If Joe Stump is going to help spread this music, then let the man get down! GO FOR IT JOE!!!

  • Yngwie owns joe stump is okay compared to yjm

  • it's just, ya know...yeah, ya know....

  • Joe Stump based his entire career on Malmsteen. He's cool.

    NOT!

  • And Malmsteen based his entire career on old-school Classical music.

  • emo-malmsteen

sorry for the comment but kick ass chops!!!

  • very GOOD

  • the neo classical and shredding patts are great but i think the intro riff is very generic, sound slike a lot of power metal riffs out there

  • jesus fucking christ!!!

play the damn lick all ready. fuck i dont give a shit what you say just play the fucking thing

  • im gawnna tawk abowt sum blahblah imma fwum noo yawk...baroque dis right here!

  • The Red Priest is an awesome neoclassical metal tune replete with Stumps massive few holds barred shred chops...

  • what is the differnce between joe playing neoclassical or any other band play rock right? they copied classic rock artists didnt they?

  • As a massive fan of Yngwie, and an even bigger fan of this kind of guitar playing (neoclassical)I can understand others thinking it's like him, but you can't call everyone who plays harmonic minor an Yngwie wannabee..

As a big fan of YM's music I can hear how this guy (who I've never heard before) plays in his own way within neo-classical guitar..

If we go back to Baroque era, we could acuse EVERYONE of copying each other, because it all sounds similar, same style, different techniques!

  • People think Joe is an Yngwie wannabe because he plays neo classical and uses a strat ESP?

Look around and tell me how many guitarist have 80s hair and use stratocasters and they dont get called Yngwie wannabes.

  • That depends what they play and how they play it,Joe Stump is a great guitarist but come on man ,he is closer to yngwies style than the vast majority of other players influenced by him.Sure,Joe stump is probably tehcnically more skilled than Yngwie of today but the guy even writes similar songs/passages etc as yngwie does.He tries to emulate yngwie and for the most part he succeds, clearly a wannabe afaik, however good he is you would be mad to call him original.

  • Ture, but lets say that there is a guy who dresses like an 80s Glam Rocker, but uses a scalloped fender strat, but writes bon jovi songs, would he be considered an Yngwie wanna be or not?

  • No but that isn't the case here is it ? :-)I was commenting the first part of your sentence. But in all honesty most players that use a scalloped fretboard today got the intitial idea from Yngwie.I'm not saying he invented it but he made it popular among those who were heavily influenced by his playing.

As i said ,it depends what and how they play and not what kind of guitar they use.

  • Sorry about the crap typing, its late and i should be sleeping :p

  • true he is copying Yngwie but he is also the only guitarist that is lik him that Yngwie recognizes as a great guitarist, so he doesnt mind

  • Joes a great guy (I got his email from somewhere) i actually got him on this radio station which was cool.

if you haven't heard any of his cds check them out hes definitely the American Yngwie.

  • all looks simple

  • well all i can say is that ilike player like Greg Howe, Petrucci, Kiko Loreiro,,,n to em Joe Stump is far better than Yngwie,,,last Yngwie cd,,,even thou he's got Ripper,,,mediocre,,,last Stump instrumental cd,,,,just amazing,,,Yngwie doesn't own these sounds,,,n joe takes it to a more aggressive level than Yngwie,,,n Joe is a really nice guy too,,,so,,,i prefer Joe over Yngwie,,,anytime

  • , =/= .

  • hes a wanna be malmsteen

  • but better :D

  • whats that first song hes playing?

  • also i see him using different modes such as phrygian and aeolian which is not an evident playing style of malmsteen. Also uses nice choices of minor chords, or power chords. So dont knock on someone for being great a playing style that someone else is great at. its like trying to compare adrain legg and chet aktkins. they are both amazingly fluid and creative but have the same finger style playing. over and out. rant over ; )

  • joe stump is very close too malmsteen. in fact one of malmsteens favorite modes is phrygian and he uses plenty of aeolian licks. not as much as joe but he uses it in a lot of his songs

  • plus, wuts wrong with being inspired by someone elses music?

  • even though he may look like malmsteen, you have to realize that malmsteen is an idol for any practicing neo classical metal guitarist out there. I personally idolized him and aspire to play like him. Maybe the looks are a little overboard but give him credit for being a great clean guitarist. most people who try to emulate mlamsteens playing style fail when it comes to precision and clear voice of the guitar. Joe has made his own style of playing but not physical style. haha

  • yeah i wreckon hes taken alot from malmsteen, and jason becker, i bought an album of hes bout 10 yrs ago and the whole thing was harmonised like jason beckers stuff which was cool, but it gets 2 much, i can appreciate his technique, thats all, yngwies far better

  • for those obsessed about him sounding like yngwie, look at all the "metal" guitarists out there that all do the same stupid power chord bullshit. Appreciate skill.

  • TOTAL YNGWIE MALMSTEEN WANNA BE

look he even corse ear rintg like malmsteen and chain on hes left hand WTF DUDE wtf..

    no comment

  • Na he's not a Yngwie wanna be son he's arrived at that that level, in case you haven't noticed. Joe take's his licks that extra step that Malmsteen don't. If I was Malmsteen I would be inspired that Joe thought so much of my playing to have to learn it and say thanks dude!! They are both great and I am sure much better than you can do.

  • uh no malmsteen could tear this guy to shreds

  • Rock on Jersey Malmsteen!!!!!!!!!!

  • idk maybe he is a carbon copy from seen other vids

  • i dont think age is the issue malmsteen came out in late 70s where as stump came out in the early 90s although malmsteens technique is clearly seen in the vid all guitarists are made up of alot of differnt artists wouldnt you think? unless they are a carbon copy

  • what a fake guy

  • which one is the hardest of the Neoclassical Series DVD???

  • i hope these dvds are better than malmsteens

  • vinnie moore

  • Stump sounds just like YM and I am sure YM didn't even knew Stump was exist :) I am not saying this as I like YM because I don't. I think he is an arse hole. Though he is good guitar player and invented Blackmores style bit further.

  • stump never set out to be a copy of YM he claims that he was doing it way before YM ( stump is older so it is possible). However YM just got fame before he did. but to be honest i prefer YM

  • I hear you!

I prefer to play on humbuckers because I dont want to sound like YM!

    Dimarzio can´t be beaten!

  • Malmsteen anyone? The guy was doing this 30 years ago. It's like a carbon copy.

  • nice hair...

  • I love neoclassical so much!!!

  • i wanna see him play tocatta and fugue in d minor :)

  • the Red Priest ,Antonio Vivaldi.
