First Comment on one of your 'Trailer Analysis.' You'd be amaized the guy you are now at what you would see if you saw the movie today. This was done over a year ago! Its amaizing to connect with what was in the trailer and what we saw in the movie.
@Nyhama I really agree with u, I remember seeing the first pictures of the ship from this movie. It has no texture at all, like its been cast. I think one of the reasons it look bad, is because WETA didn't do the props and stuff for this film.
Like what you've said, the previous two narnia trailers give you encouragement but this VDT gives you discouragement. I think I agree with that too. I just want to ask, from this trailer, can you see that Michael Apted is a better director than Andrew Adamson or the other way around?
I hated the 'King to boy feelings' idea either. It totally mutilated Pete's character in PC, and now with Ed... But even if it does work, wouldn't it have been done earlier? I mean, this is 2 YEARS after their first trip to Narnia, less than a year after their second, so wouldn't he have felt the backlash when Peter did? Or was he strong for his sisters AND Peter and now that Peter's gone, he's all angsty? Oy...
Again, YES. Saving Narnia from WHAT?! If they want money, stay true to the book! XC
Jesus it is my friend and all. He will return quite soon may you all watch out of the dark force yes lets put the fear back at it. God bless all....Via Jesus who is the son of man you will see god...
@DiverseCityFreak i dunno, i think hes god himself, because he created the world of narnia the same way as god did to earth, about choosing a male, and a female, ( earth: adam and eve ) and in narnia the talking beast you know, but it could be also jezus, by the way he hes teh son of the emperror, is jezus the son of god.
You know GPuddle, I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the part showing Lucy waving to the woman in the water. I'd thought you'd say something about how its supposed to be either a mermaid or a seawoman and that it looks more like a female, ocean dwelling version of the river god in PC, which is sort of how I envisoned naiads were going to be potrayed after PC....
CS Lewis wrote this to a girl who asked about that:
.
"As to Aslan's other name, well I want you to guess. Has there never been anyone in this world who (1.) Arrived at the same time as Father Christmas. (2.) Said he was the son of the great Emperor. (3.) gave himself up for someone else's fault to be jeered at and killed by wicked people. (4.) Came to life again. (5.) Is sometimes spoken of as a Lamb.... Don't you really know His name in this world. Think it over and let me know your answer!"
@GPuddle i dunno, i think hes god himself, because he created the world of narnia the same way as god did to earth, about choosing a male, and a female, ( earth: adam and eve ) and in narnia the talking beast you know, but it could be also jezus, by the way he hes teh son of the emperror, is jezus the son of god.
the thing with the 3D and the carpet is that the movie's being converted to 3D. It wasnt shot that way. and not many 3D movies these days have the fly out at you effect. This trailer didnt really.
u should add the countdown for VDT!!!!! whenever i saw that for prince caspian i always enjoyed thuinking its coming closer and closr plz and thank you!
I definitely agree about Narnia being for their benefit, not just for an exciting journey, but for the Pevensie kids to grow in character and to get to know Aslan better in their world (Jesus), but of course they wouldn't mix the Christianity into it, which is surprising, really, since the director of this movie directed Amazing Grace, a very Christian movie.
The map scroll Coriakin throws at the camera remind me of the rolls of fabric thrown at us by Johnny Depp's mad hatter in Alice in Wonderland. Also in 3D btw.
If this is your reaction to a trailer for a movie that we ALL knew would get butchered, I can't wait to see what you do when Tilda Swinton is cast as The Lady of the Green Kirtle. Your head might just literally explode all over your Macintosh Notebook. Which would actually be pretty cool in 3D.
However, concerning the issue of Edmund "I was king before" attitude, I daresay I think it's fine. Why? Mainly because I recall Edmund pulling this card on Caspian during their stay at Deathwater Island. I can see how they might be using this scene to establish the coming conflict at Deathwater... ;)
That scene in the book is an isolated incident where they are trying to decide who has a right to the "Goldwater." Edmund is pleading his case why he has a right.
The way they seem to be approaching it in the film is that Edmund is mad because people are treating him like a kid when he knows he's a king. Brat.
CS Lewis never addressed that issue of what it's like to go from being a king back to being a kid. I think it would have taken away from the fairy tale simplicity.
@GPuddle I agree. Saw the same thing in the last movie. If anything, the books would have Peter and Edmund more dignified about the way they act, not whining for kingly treatment
@aCurrier but it's the way any kid acts. They want respect, but end up victims of age discrimination. it happens all the time in real life, and oftentimes parents are teachers are the culprits.
@ajmrowland I can understand where they're coming from, but the impression I get from reading the stories is that Peter and Edmund (as well as Susan and Lucy) mature from their time as kings and queens of Narnia. I mean, look at how much difference spending time in Narnia made to Eustace in reading The Silver Chair. He's matured. He's not the same whiny little brat he was before visiting Narnia in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I see the Pevensies as being mature for their time reigning in Narn
@ajmrowland C. S. Lewis brings out a paradox in the Chronicles of Narnia. In it he presents a child-like wonder and faith and at the same time a maturity beyond a child's years. Lewis capitalizes on Jesus' statement, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven," Matthew 18:3.
ok, i still think the trailer is great, but you did make some points that i agree with. There were few, but some. The one thing is that the CGI sucks.
If you haven't already you might be interested in having a look at Gustav Dore's illustrations for Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner some shots are reminiscent I think especially the last shot with the logo (of the ship inbetween the mountains). I'm sure Lewis would have read it, I can't help but think it might have influenced the albatross (there's an albtross in Mariner representative of Christ)
GP, you just raised another concern that I couldn't take my mind off the whole time. The Leaked Script. Even ELEMENTS from the leaked draft are unwelcome in my VDT movie.
I really hope they don't make Edmund like Peter because Edmund is my favorite one and I don't want them messing his character up.We do not need another Peter.
