Man that is such a cool B&W clip... jazz to die for ...Great to hear Lenny play with a outstanding female vocalist.
Can you imagine how many filmed or taped shows of Lenny there are ...tied up by CBC and one of least favourte people ( Randy Bachman ). Lenny go such a great sound from that Baldwin acoustic dreadnought...Just amazing times for the world & him Cheers Thanks for Posting this beauty
Judi Singh and Lenny... MAN, what a natural combination. These two sound so good together it's unbeleivable. Anyone know if any of their old CBC radio/TV performances are available? Direct from CBC even?
What a courageous thing his daughter did to create this program for a man who was certainly capable of love, but perhaps didn't have the tools to be a dad too.
the son your asking about is called "new york city" and i s on the "Mo Breau" album, which I think is on cd now with the other tunes he recorder at that same time and studio, called 5 0 Clock Bells
Does anyone know the name of the song called @ 2:32 with the hammer-ons and wonderful harmonics ? Ukiemexican and I would like to know. If anyone can shed some light on this, we would greatly appreciate it . . . T.Y. =)
Its New York City off 5 O Clock Bell or Mo Breau, I think they are packaged together now. I think Swingin' on a Seven String is his best along with LB now! or the 2 RCA ones. Although those 2 are OK.
Emily doesn't have it quite right. Her mom Judi Singe was hired by CBC specifically to play on The Lenny Breau Show in 1966. This clip is from the Lenny Breau Show. They did do some other shows together after that but this was the show they met on.
This is a favorite video of Lenny and Emily's Mom. I have a great appreciation of Lenny and to add to this , it is very different to have the guitar player out front of the lead singer. It is very evident that Lenny's family are a great family and it is cool that Emily has included all the neat excerpts from their first meeting. So way cool and thank you for posting this video
Don't forget that Lenny had three daughters--Melody, Emily, and Dawn. He never married Emily's mom but he was married to the women who were the mothers of Melody and Dawn.
Just dont wanna forget that Emily and Judi are not the only families Lenny had but they seem to be the only one we hear about. Wonder why?
The reason we never hear about his other daughters is because we never hear of him anywhere, as great as he was, the mainstream ignored his genius because they could'nt get rich off of it.
At 1:51 in this video, Emily says : "I had never met any of my paternal family until I started this project" and since she was really the one who made the film, she does'nt say anything about them, because she's never met them.
But I agree, the film should have said something about it.
No Clovis, Lenny LOVED a beautiful woman with a good voice. I'm absolutely certain his view of her was colorblind. What a foul thing to say Clovis, you should have your mouth washed with acid...
