Wie alt sind deine Tiere, wie lange hast du die schon und welche Temperaturen herrschen im Terrarium?

Ich hatte durchaus versucht mehrere große Ficus-Bäume dort am Leben zu erhalten - ist mir nicht gelungen.

Die Strickleitern erfüllen nicht nur den Zweck, daß sich die Tiere beim Klettern etwas trainieren, sondern auch, daß Licht und Wärme bis in die unteren Ebenen des Terrarium kommt - und meine Tiere klettern sehr gerne darauf herum.

I use one Osram Vitalux 300W for UVB.

The Metal Halide lights are good. There are 3 daylight-bulbs with 70W. I dont know how many lux this are.

Hallo ich muß dir echt mal sagen so ist das becken ja echt schön groß . Aber meine persönliche meineung ist es feht was .Mann sollte die tiere immer so halten wir es in der natur vorkommt (z.b Pflanzen )

Auch wenn jetzt das agomend kommt die fressen die doch schau dir meins an meiner frist nur die Pflanzen an wenn er hunger hat (grins)

Tja, ich habs ja versucht, aber meine Grünen haben schon ein halbes Duzend Ficus-Bäume (Höhe 1,50m und höher) auf dem Gewissen. Ich möchte das ehrlich den Pflanzen nicht antun und mit der Zeit ist es auch etwas teuer. So ein Ficus hält da maximal 4 Wochen. Die Pflanzen werden auch nicht gefressen - sie klettern nur darauf herum. Das reicht dann schon. Ein kleinerer Ficus lebt noch(!), weil ich ihn mit Böschungsmatten gut verpackt habe, aber da sieht man dann nicht mehr viel von.

Die Tiere sind ja ganz schön, aber das terrarium sieht eher aus wie in einer Vogelvoliere, überall leitern. Schaff dir lieber nen Vogel für das becken an und geben den Iguanas mal etwas natürlichere Kletteräste.

Die Tiere klettern sehr viel und aktiv auf den Leitern herum. Mal davon abgesehen werden sie durch die Beweglichkeit der Leitern beim Klettern auch noch etwas gefordert.

Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, daß mehr Licht (aus knapp 3m Höhe) nach unten kommt und so der untere Bereich des Terrarium für die Tiere attraktiver wird. Ich finde die Leitern sehr gut - und meine Tiere offensichtlich auch - deswegen sehe ich keinen Grund da irgendetwas zu ändern.

They did never really fall - but sometimes they hang on just with one claw and then climb up again.

Nein, nicht der Wintergarten. Das Terrarium steht im Wohnzimmer.

Plastik-Grünpflanzen haben genauso schlechte Überlebenschancen wie echte Pflanzen - nämlich nicht fast keine. Meine Grünen bekommen alles klein :-). Ich hab bei Plastikpflanzen etwas Angst, daß sie kleine Stückchen, die sie abreißen beim rumklettern, fressen. Deswegen nehme ich entweder echte oder gar keine.

and im a pretty new iguana owner and every one tells me thagt they cannot live together because they fight yet you have plenty...and mine looks about the same size and age as yours.

They can live together if there is only one male iguana in the group and if the female iguanas are not dominant.

But a group needs a lot of space so that they can keep out of each others way.

There can always be problems when they do not like each other - there can be a lot of trouble if for instance the male does not like one of the females... they can start to hurt each other. You have to watch their behavior closely so that you can prevent that something bad happens.

Here are some other tips too:

Terrarium: 2 meters x 2 meters x 2 meters (if there is not so much length in one direction there should be added equal additional space in the other directions)

Temp: on the ground: 20-25°C, in the middle of the terrarium: 33-35°C, Sun Spots: 42-45°C

Humidity: 70-90% at day, 80-100% at night

Diet: fresh green leafs (Salat, herbs (dandelion, deadnettle, mint, melissa, basil, oregano...), carrots including leafs, leek...) Calcium & Korvimin (Reptile Vitamins)

Here is the rest:

lighting:

With normal sunlight (without any glass) for several hours a day in the terrarium you dont need a UV-Spotlight, but make sure the temps are right.

without sunlight:

1 x 300W Osram Ultra vitalux for a 2x2x2m Terrarium or 160W or 100W T-Rex UV HEAT for smaller ones.

2-4 DL HQI Lights (its important that they are DL or NDL)

some additional normal Spotlights until the temp is ok.

Many many horizontal branches (and some vertical too) for climbing.

And I know what you mean. I saw some of these videos here (with this shoebox sized cages, the wrong food, far to little light and so on) and I thought that it might be a good idea to show these people how iguanas really could be if they are kept under better conditions - so they maybe start to think about their cages... and other people possibly start to think before they buy an iguana.

Iguanas can jump even higher than in this video. They can be really fast too - if they want.

There are 3 iguanas in this terrarium at the moment (the same iguanas as in my other videos) and they are not shy and not aggressive so I can handle them almost like any other pet.
