I was home schooled and I hated it. Then one fine day my mom took up a job and we got to be in school. I loved being around my classmates. Home school sucks! It is a way for possessive moms to hold on to their kids way after they should let go. Its like that mom who insists that breast feeding her 12 year old is still okay cause no one can deny breast milk is healthy. That is stupid!
@zaphraud Please do more research. The "socialization" argument seems to be the only thing most people can come up with to defend traditional schooling. There are SOOOO many ways to socialize a child other than having them sit at a desk in a classroom with 25 other kids. Survey homeschooling parents in your area and I guarantee you that most of their kids are just as socialized as yours and are working at a higher grade level. Don't argue against something you have no knowledge of...
Excellent work on the homeschooling! Make sure to remember to allow her to go to school when she is a couple of years older, however, or she will end up living life with "below grade level" social skills - interaction with a huge number of kids is critical to learning how to relate to peers.
Oh you are so right - George Washington and many other founding fathers were SO lacking in social skills.. I just dont know how they managed without LARGE numbers of children their own age around....
